MagikKnickParticipantDonald Jones told police that he "threw a knife" at his friend Ronald Oliver during an argument while the two watched game one of the NBA Finals (the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks) on Tuesday. Police found Jones kneeling next to Oliver and holding a towel to Oliver’s chest. But Oliver, 40, was already dead. On Wednesday, Jackson County prosecutors charged Jones, 41, with voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action. Jones and Oliver were watching the game at a home in the 3300 block of East 30th Street. They began to argue, and one of them went to the kitchen to get the knife "because it was relevant to the argument." Jones didn’t recall stabbing Oliver but did say he’d thrown the knife at his friend. He said he’d pulled the knife out of Oliver’s chest and tried to put pressure on the wound. Oliver is Kansas City, Missouri’s 38th homicide of 2011.

How was the knife relevant to an argument about basketball?

marcusfizer21ParticipantBasketball is a game… It’s not worthy to kill someone over it… We can argue all we want but at the end of the day, it’s a game… It’s tough to see something like this…
