benny15Participantguy who drafted aminu over paul george is the same one that just signed him to that deal. could be an overpay, but after how the warriors won the championship, players who can switch and defend bigs and guards is gonna be the new premium now.

ExumInfernoParticipantHayward, George, they were the two picks after Aminu. Terrible drafting, and now terrible signing.
Batum and Aldridge spread the floor so Lillard could drive to the basket. So did Matthews and others. Now Portland has Henderson, Aminu and Plumlee and no shooting. Batum played with a broken hand and shot better than Aminu.
The Mavs would start Richard Jefferson over Aminu, and that was a team with Dirk shooting. A giant overpay, and a reason why Portland won’t get near the playoffs.
The worst part, the agents of a bench of bad bench players will now demand this type of money. Some will get it.
41% and 5.6 points and now he is getting that contract, the NBA is a scarey place right now. After that Portland signing, Brandon Bass is worth the max and Kosta Koufos will deserve getting 50% ownership of his new team.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantYou’ve got to understand this was before the Clips got CP3. At the time they had Eric Gordon (putting up 20-22 a game) so they didn’t necessarily need another potential scoring wing to put at the 3 alongside BG & DJ. Blake also said he wanted Faroq going into that draft.
Not trying to defend it, but it wasn’t as crazy as it looks now when you factor in context.

ZouldiersParticipantAminu is a great defender and is only 24 yrs old. With the cap rising next season, 7.5M per year is not that much.

llperezbs, that is a terrible deal. He averaged 5 points on 41 percent shooting last year and his 5 year career average is 6 points. He is the 10th man on any good team at best, close to 8 mill per is laughable. matt barnes, mike dunleavy, wes johnson, corey brewer and marco bellineli have all got to be beating off right now.

tblazer_NZParticipantThe work he put in in the playoffs boosted his FA stock. He can defend 2-4 and is a great offensive rebounder for his position. Still has potential and could put up ok numbers. He isn’t going to be looked at as a scorer. Really good hustle guy. 10-5 with a block in 28 mins+ is what I expect. hopefully for Portlands sake LaMarcus doesn’t take to long with his decision so the Blazers can move on.

XYRYXParticipantActually Khawhi hasn’t signed an extension yet as that would mean that the Spurs wouldn’t have Cap Space to sign someone like Aldridge but I’m sure they agreed on the reported 5 year 90 million deal.
Jimmy Butler has been offered the same deal by Bulls but is likely to sign a 4 year max deal with a player option for 4th ulimately with them.
The Nets seem to have agreed with Brook Lopez to a 3 year max deal worth 60 million and Thad Young to a 4 year 50 million deal. Both deals are waayyyy to much for me. There is no way a player with Brooks injury history should be paid max money and to spend 110 mio over 4 years for both of them won’t solve any of the Nets problems.
I hate to say it but if AD gets 145 mio extension, Butler, Leonard, Green, Gasol, Aldridge, DeAndre all get max deals and Lopez getting the max as well with his injury history Kanter is going to be really expensive for the Thunder. If he asks for more that what Ibaka got (4year, 49 mio I think) let him walk or do a sign and trade. They simply can’t afford this in the long run and Adams should be their longterm priority over Kanter.

trelos6ParticipantIf this is true, great pick up by the Pacers.
They really need some offense. Hill is a solid defensive PG, George and Hibbert can be stars defensively. But they need to give George help on the offensive end.

Sewok15ParticipantI know Cuban has money and he wants to put together a final run for Dirk but this is the stuff that holds franchises back in the long run. Matthews is a nice SG but he is coming off injury and I don’t really see him as an upgrade over Monta. I am a Chandler Parsons fan but they overpaid him last year (probably just to lure him from the Rockets) as well. They are going to be in trouble once Dirk retires since they are paying high level role players 15 million a season.

XYRYXParticipantMarc Stein is reporting that the Bucks and Chris Middleton are on the verge of finalising a 5 year 70 mio deal with the 23 year old wing who had kind of a breakout season last year.
After what Parsons and Hayward got last year and what 28 year old Wes Mathews is asking for this seems like fair value considering that teams need or are going to spend major money from now on with the cap space going up.
Still A LOT of money beeing thrown around already. Hard to tell if some teams will regret some of this moves in the long run and i still don’t know if 14 mio a year is fair money to some guys who will have a hard time beeing an All Star ever. In the end I like this signing for the Bucks. Middleton is not only a good and still developing player on the offensive end but has also great length to defend the wing.
If 14 million a year is the market value for young RFAs the Suns better prepare to throw the max at Knight or someone else will do.

machu46ParticipantKnight reportedly also got 5 years and $70 million.
Anyways, this is a good bargain for the Bucks. When the cap jumps, Middleton’s $14 mil will be the equivalent of $8-9 mil today. So he’ll be getting average or below average starting SG pay while being somewhere around the top 10 at the position (assuming he doesn’t improve from who he is today).

XYRYXParticipantAccording to Chris Broussard and his sources (might actually be true this time…) Danny Green agreed to sign 4 year 45 million deal with the Spurs.
Great for the Spurs but man I really need to get used to this type of numbers for guys who are only considered role players, even though a very good one. Might have been Fiansl MVP 2 years ago if they could have won the title. No knock on him at all but damn there is money beeing thrown around like crazy!
On the other hand this must mean that Aldridge to the Spurs is most likely dead since they already needed to get very creative with their payroles before signing Green to this contract.

HitsterParticipantGuys like Green and Carroll have got the good contracts their play deserves and when you see guys like them in their late 20’s getting big deals, the younger guys will of course look for similar or bigger deals as they potentially have more upside.
As a Phoenix fan, I’m pleased to get Chandler but wonder what this means for Alex Len long term, also does anyone know if Chandler’s 4 years are all guaranteed as he’ll be pushing 37 when his deal expires. But fora good defensive big that is about the going price.
