I get the feeling free agency isn’t going to be the big mystery and circus that it usually is, especially with the big men.

DeAndre Jordan has all but stated that he wants to go to Dallas. ‘It all depends on what they want to do’.

LaMarcus Aldridge has been linked to San Antonio, which makes sense. He has Texas roots, and really wants to win a championship. SA would be the best bet.

Marc Gasol very probably stays in Memphis.

Love goes to LAL or Portland if Aldridge leaves. Probably LAL, where his girlfriend lives, where he went to college, where his last name is an icon, and where he can expect other big stars to flock within a year. All while being a #1 or two scoring option.

Love not fitting in in Cleveland wasn’t entirely what it seemed. Part of it was Love laying the groundwork for an exit. Now that we see he wasn’t really happy and forming any bonds in Cleveland, nobody will be really shocked and hate him if/when he bolts. Refusing to answer Kelly Olynyk’s calls suggests he’s probably not going to bolt to Boston.

    Greg Monroe to the Knicks.

Brook Lopez, Hibbert, and Al Jefferson might be the biggest mysteries among free agent bigs.

Aldridge and Gasol stay put in there respective teams.

Love leaves if the Cavs don’t win a championship, presumably he goes to Boston or LA. If Love decision not to sign with the Celtics is because of the Oynyk situation then I don’t even want him on my team. Olynyk is responsible enough to reach out to you and apologize for his actions but you just continue to ignore him just shows Loves immaturity.

    Greg Monroe to the Knicks

Overall don’t anticipate to see anything really surprising

lol Love won’t bolt, if anything he’ll pick his option for next year because his value pretty much dropped this year. The fact that he didn’t really fit in playing along side one of the best playmaker in the history and that he ends up being injured again is just not good for him. If the Lakers are dumb, they might throw money at him but they really shouldn’t. The Cavs lost Wiggins for the guy so they better not lose him for nothing, atleast chase another big man to replace him, I think I’d rather have Al Jefferson, he can Post up, rebound and stretch it too, maybe not to the 3 point line, but enough to create space. He doesn’t really defend well but Love is as bad.

By your logic, your lol logic, Love won’t bolt because his stock went down. As if he has any reasonable expectation that his stock will rise again next year in the exact same situation. lol yerself.

And lol at the idea that the Lakers won’t offer him max because of their intelligence.

I don’t know if the Lakers want Love considering how terrible he is on defense.  I guess it all depends on who Lakers are able to draft because there are a lot of swingman free agents that can be wooed to LA.

I think Aldrige is going to leave but I would be surprised to see Jordan leave considering I believe either the Bulls or Clippers win it all this year and right now my money is on Clippers unless Paul can not play.

Only see Gasol moving is Jordan leaves and there is an open spot at Center there.

Monroe is gone from Detroit and it would definitely be a solid front court with Monroe and possibly Towns.

I would love to see Brook leave but I think with the injuries and everything Brooklyn will do whatever to keep him.  If GSW does not win I would love to see them trade for him because their defense might take hit but they will have a legit inside big man for the playoffs.

Brook Lopez is either staying with the Nets or going back to Cali and signing with the Lakers.

Gasol & DeAndre Jordan and Jefferson stay. No way Cavs let Love split after giving up a future star.

Cavs don’t really have much say in whether Love stays or leaves, and Love’s emotional distance from his teammates, to the point that he gets called out on twitter, suggests Love never intended on getting too comfortable once he realized he was 3rd wheel and always would be in Cleveland.

You can tell when a player has one foot out the door. It was obvious with Rondo and Green in Boston.

People have been saying all year that the Clippers play like they don’t like each other, and that’s the classic tell-tale that at least one of them has a foot out the door, in this case Jordan.

Just like DHoward sent signals all year in LA that he wasn’t sticking around, and it didn’t really catch many people by surprise when he left.

Watch for Westbrook and Durant to show some of the same signs next year.

This is kind of a predictable question, because a lot of it is already in motion. Not much to discuss.

DeAndre Jordan- Why would he break up lob city? He had an incredible year, is in the perfect situation playing with Blake and CP3, and is in LA. He’s going to get PAID, and rightfully so. The Clippers are most likely going to the WCF, and a lot of people have them in the finals too. I think he sticks it out with his friends, and continues his success in LA.

LaMarcus Aldridge- LA is leaving, or atleast he should. He wanted out a few years ago, but Lillard kind of put that on pause for a while. Now that he knows this teams limits I don’t see why he would stick around. If Timmy retires I think he goes the the Spurs to play in Texas again, or he could potentially play for the Mavs. Idk how their salary situation is, so getting him might mean lossing out on Chandler, but if they can keep those two than a Chandler/LA backcourt would be nice.

Marc Gasol- Same thing as Jordan. Memphis is in a good position to win it all this year, and they have been one of the best teams in the NBA the past 3 seasons. He gets to play with a good PG, and in a system that highlights his success. I think Marc loves playing in the Grindhouse, and Mem is only going to get better. They are a smart organization who keeps adding solid pieces around him. I would be absolutely shocked if he left Memphis to go to a team that isn’t better.

Kevin Love- I hope he leaves, but again, you’re asking a player who wanted nothing more than to be in a winning situation to leave a chance to win a ring each and every year. The east is a cake walk, and playing next to Kyrie and LeBron makes life a lot easier for Love. Sure he gets the majority of the blame if they falter, but that doesn’t matter. Ask Bosh how he felt after he hit those threes against Boston, and then won a ring. It doesn’t matter. Also, can someone explain to me why he would go to LA? Or more importantly, why they would want him? They just drafted Randle, who will have the same impact as a scoring/rebounder who has shady D.

Greg Monroe- Obviously he’s gone. I think he’s probaly going to whoever will pony up the most money. I’m looking at you NY. I could also see Boston as a dark Horse team.

Yeah LA is going to the Spurs. I don’t think he and Lillard get along that well and now that lillard has kind of become face of the franchise it makes sense for him to go win in san Antonio.

I think it is 50-50 if Jordan leaves because he is from texas and he seems to have some interest in playing for the Mavs, but with the clippers most likely making the west finals and possibly the NBA finals that would be very hard to walk away from that.

This grizzlies team has another 2 to 3 years to compete and stay together. I really hope he stays those 2 to 3 years and then he could move on or be traded. I agree with you, it would be a shock if he left.

Klove is staying in Cleveland, especially if they keep Smith, Shumpert, thompson and mozgov. That team is good enough to win a few championships in the next 4 to 5 years. Like with bosh, it took a while for him to be appreciated but eventually he was and he was loved and respected by everyone. I think that will happen with Klove

I agree there is no way Monroe accepted that tender to not leave.

DeAndre Jordan – I don’t think the Clippers can resign him to a max contract and keep their other players. That means that if he wants the max, which he can get on the open market, he will need to leave. If I had to bet between him staying or going, I would bet he is going. Mavs, Celtics, and Magic all make sense. Magic are a sleeper for Jordan. If they renounced their rights to O’Quinn, Gordon, Harris, and Ridnour, they could offer him the max. A Jordan/Vucevic/Gordon/Oladipo/Payton core would be fundamentally flawed (shooting), but it would be an exciting core. Maybe Vucevic could be traded and Harris could be kept.

LaMarcus Aldridge – If he wants to win a championship, the Spurs are the best place to do that. A Leonard/Aldridge core would be really good, but i think both players are going to command the max, which is really going to cut down on their roster depth.

Marc Gasol – if Memphis lost in the first round, I think Gasol would have been 50-50 on going. Every series they win increases the likelihood they keep Gasol, especially if they beat the Warriors. The Knicks are still a really good fit.

Love – I think it is 50-40-10 Cavs-Lakers-Celtics right now. There is no doubt that the Lakers allure Love for personal reasons, and the Celtics offer a young team with a great system and great upside, but I think the Cavs offer Love the chance at championships, which is the easiest path to greatness.

Greg Monroe is going to the Knicks, although I’m not sure that Melo and him are a great fit.

Lopez will probably get Love’s leftovers. I don’t think he stays. Lakers could gamble on him, but he could doubly help the Celtics by signing with them. They would both get a center/all-star caliber player and their Nets pick next year would move up the lottery.

Jefferson is opting in. I don’t think he is getting any long contracts with his health problems. His 15 million this year is the best payday he will be able to get.

Hibbert is probably not going to opt out with his big contract either, but I do think that Bird will explore trading him.

I’m late so I probably won’t contribute anything new, but here’s my two cents:

DeAndre Jordan:  If I was Jordan, I’d abide by mgreener’s logic and stay in LA, but there has been far too much smoke about Jordan wanting to move to Dallas for there not to be fire.  The Mavericks have the cap space to offer him a competitive contract and he’d be playing in his home state, DeAndre Jordan is going to the Dallas Mavericks.

LaMarcus Aldridge:  It’s pretty clear that he’s leaving Portland at this point.  Him going to San Antonio would seem viable as they have cap space, but if Love leaves Cleveland he could be drawn to that team’s younger core, who will be able to better compete for a championship both next season and in future seasons.  As you’ll see below, I have Love leaving Cleveland, paving the way for Aldridge to perform a sign and trade deal to join the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Marc Gasol: He’s happy in Memphis, Memphis is more than happy with him, Gasol stays and earns boatloads of cash as a part of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Kevin Love: Although most of the rumors point Love towards the Celtics and Knicks, neither seem likely at this point.  Love already has strained relationships with the Celtics after that first round series and as a Knick he’ll be in an organisation that has been losing for most of the last decade.  The Lakers seem to be a more likely option.  He returns to his hometown to play for the team he supported growing up.

Greg Monroe:  He’s a bit of a potshot.  In my scenairo, the Celtics, Knicks and Spurs miss out on signing any elite big, despite having the cap room to do so.  Frank Isola of the New York Daily News has called a deal between Monroe and the Knicks "about as close to a done deal as you can get".  While this New York based reporter could be biased, he’s only confirming what others have been saying for months, so I see Greg Monroe signing with the New York Knicks.

Brook Lopez: I see Lopez resigning with the Brooklyn Nets.  He seems happy enough there and they can offer him the money and job security that no other team in the league can.

Roy Hibbert and Al Jefferson: I don’t see them opting out of their Player Option.  There are too many bigs out in the open market this offseason for either to earn more than they’re already making and they’ll want to take advantage of next season’s cap increase to net themselves a big contract next offseason.

I could see Jordan going after some money. I want to say Dallas, but I think they’re going to be too busy trying to lure Aldridge and other bigger names while another team will snatch up Jordan I see that team being Boston as they are a good fit for him and have the money.

I really want to see Aldridge in San Antonio. He wants to go home and not be over shadowed by teammates. San Antonio is the best Texas fit for him and they have a team first mentality and are low key so he won’t have the Lillard problem. He also seems like a guy who wants to win, be a part of a good organization, and isn’t about the money. I’m hoping Duncan stays on for a couple years (it’d be like Duncan’s first couple years with the Admiral) for cheap. Kinda want Manu to retire to save them some money.

Gasol is staying in Memphis. Good team for him, he’s always been there, and they’re winning.

Love to LA. It’s kind of his home. Big market. And he gets to be a bigger part of a team. Not a Laker fan, but I have a off season scenario in my head that’d be pretty good for them and is somewhat realistic. First, sign Love. Then draft Hezonja (if outside top 4, which works the best for this scenario). Three team Western trade that nets them Lawson (team wants to trade him) and Splitter (salary dump to sign Aldridge) for Hill, Swaggy P, and Clarkson. Lineup would be Lawson, Bryant, Hezonja, Love, and Splitter with Randle off the bench. It’s not a playoff team, but it’s a quick rebuild that gets them going in the right direction.

Monroe probably goes to the Knicks even though it’s a bad fit. But money talks. For his sake, I hope another team takes a shot at him.

Hibbert will opt in (could be a wild card to opt out as Bird said he won’t fit the team anymore as well as getting a longer contract) and hopefully is traded to a team that needs his skills (like Boston, Milwaukee or New Orleans).

Jefferson is opting in and staying in Charlotte.

Sounds like Lopez is opting out and I hope he leaves the dysfunctional Nets, but I don’t really know where he’d go? Probably to whoever missed out on the guys listed above. It’d be fun to see him go to Portland if Aldridge leaves and they resign his brother. Then they go twin towers style! Doubtful, but a man can dream cant he?

     Hassan Whiteside to the….?

    Knicks?

    Lakers?

    Bucks?

    Suns?

    Heat?

    Celtics?

I say any of these teams would love him. I see a two year deal, probably 18-24 million. That way he can sign a larger contract when the salary cap explodes.

He’s not a free agent until next year.

Why would Jordan leave Clippers when next year the cap will be so huge everyone is going to get paid.  Also I am sure LA will structure the contract right with that in mind.

Only team I am worried about losing LA12 to is the Spurs. If he leaves Portland needs to go hard after Millsap.
I can’t see LA12 on the Cavs because of I don’t think he would want to be third wheel. He is still the Man in Portland and would be 1B at worst with the Spurs.

The Spurs would have to do some juggling with the bird rights of players as some have big cap holds e.g
Tim Duncan’s cap hold is 15.5M, 150% of previous contract
Manu Ginobili’s cap hold is 10.5M, !50 % of previous contract

I learnt a lot from this article.
