PPierce was drafted late in the Draft & Helped Turn C’s around with AWalker.

Kobe was drafted 13th and is the Face of the Lakers

Amare was drafted 9th & he was a Franchise guy with Suns

Dirk was taken 9th also i believe, so these are the most recent players that were taken late & changed their team culture for the next 5-10 years.

Its just good to see value in the L that is not drafted in the Top 3 slots. Because most players drafted between 7-14 end up being role players, with a few AllStar selections throughout their careers.

Without being hassled? Oh, right, they are obnoxious. Yes, it is good too see guys drafted in the later lottery who end up being really high value. Paul Pierce was 10th and Antoine Walker was the 6th pick in 1996. But, they also make people maybe overvalue picks because "Kobe was taken 13th, that means the guy taken there this year must be good!". Most people do not realize that star players drafted in the later lotto are rarities rather than the norm.

It’s not so rare that a talented guy fell late in the first round or even in the second round but as said before, the quality of the draft is very important. This year, because of the lock out, the quality of the draft isn’t really good, let’s wait for next year to have more of these guys.

In 2008: Serge Ibaka (24), Nicolas Batum (25) and DeAndre Jordan (35)

In 2007: Carl Landry (31), Marc Gasol (48) and Ramon Sessions (56)

    In 2006: Paul Millsap (47)

In 2005: David Lee (30), Monta Ellis (40), Louis Williams (45), Andre Blatche (49) and Marcin Gortat (57)

In 2004: Kevin Martin (26), Anderson Varejao (31) and Trevor Ariza (44)

In 2003: Kendrick Perkins (27), Leandro Barbosa (28), Josh Howard (29) and Mo Williams (47)

Most of them are, at least, starters and some few are considered among the top of the league: David Lee (rebounding), Monta Ellis (scoring) and Serge Ibaka (blocking/defense). I don’t see any player of that kind in the draft this year but nobody believed that any of the players above would become what they became so why not. If I have one name to give, I would say Nikola Mirotic.

     JuJuan Johnson

    Jeremy Tyler

    Marshon Brooks

    Nikola Vucevic

    Keneth Faried

    Tobias Harris

    Biyombo

Are just a few names that may be drafted after the 20’s but wind up having huge impacts for years to come in the league.
