forget westbrook comparisons, shumpert is the new d-wade
start buying the dudes rookie cards because this guy is on his way to many all star games
Dude you Loco, saying he is the next D- Wade.
I'm not even going to bother.
ha! you might want to sleep on this one buddy..
go check out how d-wade started his career.got better and better every game and nobody expected it.
I have no idea what Shumpert could have done in his first few games to deserve such high remarks and a comparison like The one radartrade just gave us...Shumpert looks like a solid combo guard but No One ever saw I'm as anything more than just that, a solid Combo Guard...the fact he plays for Mike D'Antoni should tell you something about his production(It could be very inflated by the system)...I like the kid as a long combo Guard with some defensive ability and an emerging offensive game, but to compare him to Westbrook and Wade this early sounds like a Homer Call or one by a very naive basketball fan...lets see the kid play more then 10 games to see if he can keep up the production he's giving The Knicks...Im just suprised that a lot of people are jumping on this kids bandwagon so soon, must be the ones that jumped off the John Wall bandwagon over the last 2 weeks...FYI...I still think Jrue Holiday is a better Pg than John Wall TODAY, and I'm the lone member on The Jrue Holiday bandwagon...
Against a team that was a #1 seed and the favorite to win the NCAA title in Kentucky. Not to mention, he shot 49.4% FG in college compared to Shumpert's 39.6% FG. He has done well in a high tempo offense, but he has shown incredibly few signs of being the next Dwyane Wade. But, I am sure there are a few people who might to buy whatever you are smoking.

What, are you crazy? D-WADE is not THAT overrated
Did u guys really think this was going so be a smart post when he started off suggesting in investing in the card market? For heaven's sake, tax money is even spent better than that.
You maybe didnt expect D-Wade to be great. But I really think most people that know basketball saw something.
I think this guy has been smoking some of the best grass money can buy, coming out of Georgia Tech Iman Shumpert wasn't even really viewed as a 1st round pick, He played his way into that position by a lack of Guards in last years draft, the Knicks liked him more than Josh selby(who would be putting up the same numbers in NY IMO) The Knicks are one of the Teams with the worst Guard rotation in the NBA, Fields averages 8 points per game as the Starting SG, so of course the Knicks will love any stats that come from Shumpert,Walker and Douglas...In that high octane offense NY runs, the players are going to get a ton of shots up...Teams scouting to stop Amare and Melo will help Shumpert's cause as well...But no matter what Iman does it will pale in comparison to what Wade did this early in his career, people forget that did come on late in his college career but was clearly a next level talent very early in his NBA career, maybe it was a case of a players style being suited for the NBA...Shumpert however never looked like a Next Level talent, in fact some people didn't think he was a NBA worthy talent at GT, Landry Fields got the same love last year and now looks like a fish out of water, flopping about on the deck of D'Antoni's ship to nowhere...Fields was a breakout rookie last year and viewed as a 2nd round steal, now he looks like an undrafted FA who's in over his head in NY...Shumpert looks to be stealing the spotlight(however dim it is) from Fields and people are overrating his production and I won't be suprised if people start pegging him as an All Rookie Team member...
Last year you were probably saying Landry Fields was the next Joe Johnson.
I like Shumpert and his play is not surprising me his body and style of play are tailored made for the NBA so I knew he'd hit the ground running. But for some reason he reminds me of one of those guys who isn't ever goinIrg to take that next step but instead will always be a really great role player. Like at one point Lou Williams looked like he was going to become what Monta Ellis is but it just never happened.
And Scarecrow I've been saying since Irving was in high school that he reminds me of Holiday only I think Holiday is better and I think Irving is better then Wall.
One thing i have noticed about Shumpert is he is an relentless defender, and he sets a tempo for the rest of the team, the Knicks were playing some great defense at times against the Bobcats (yes i know they aren't that good), but it was positive signs, both Chandler and Shumpert were really setting a standard for the others.
Iman Shumpert the new Dwayne Wade? Multiply all-stars apperances? Dude...chill out! Take a deep breath! He has played 4 games. Easy does it.
You sure know the season has started when the Knicks fans are calling their rookies all-stars.
Shumpert the next dwade or Westbrook? What are you smoking? Yes, Shumpert is doing great, but news flash, D'antoni system is tailor made to the point guard. Case in point, the Knicks PG last year, before they got Melo. Raymond Felton, he was averaging like 20 pts a game and 10 assists. This just after he averaged half that or even less with Charlotte. Then once he got traded his production once again went down to the same numbers in Charlotte. Now in Portland he is still averaging like 14 and 6. So, no Shumpert is not the next dwade or Westbrook, but probably the next Rodney Stuckey. Shumpert numbers are just getting inflated because he is playing in an offense that is tailor made to the PG.
your name should be retardrade
I think he's a poor man's Rodney Stuckey. I think he's gonna continue to grow, he's going to able to play both guard spots, and he attacks the basket and should get plenty of free throw attempts this season.
Time to unveil the remake to my not so famous NBAdraft.netWTF Moment:yes its the remake no its worse then the orginal
IF your still alive after watching this please go back and watch my spiderman movie?
Shumpert is already surpassing a lot of people's expectations. I remember draftday and how the majority of people were wondering WTF are Knicks doing selecting him with the likes of Singleton, Nolan Smith, Jordan Hamilton, etc. still available. And now Shumpert is showing he can do the job, at least for a not too loaded on the guards side NY team. He's doing well defensively, which was to be expected, but even more, he gets pretty good numbers offensively too.
With all that said, I think people are way too quick to jump to comparisons like the ones made recently on the board(Wade/Westbrook, etc). The guy is playing solid basketball, he has potential, he has good defensive drive and great atleticism, more than anything - in this NY team it seems he's gonna be getting the chances he needs. Just wait and see.
I hope you are talking bout yourself playing NBA 2K12 with Shumpert.
i like the comment about people jumping off the john wall bandwagon!
hey maybe we can jump on the iman shumpert is D-Wade bandwagon? at least until there is another young player who is better or worse than expected for 3 games or so....
