piratejpParticipantIn his recent chat, Chad Ford mentioned a couple trades the Kings are looking at. The first is with the Bucks: Sanders and Knight for the 8th pick & something else – he said McLemore, but I hope not. Obviously hoping it’s Jason Thompson, which makes more sense salary-wise anyway. Any thoughts/input on this?
The other thing he mentioned was a trade involving the Hawks, and it’s actually the one I’m most curious about because he didn’t elaborate on it at all. Would it involve some combination of Schroeder, Nogueira or Millsap…the three guys I could see being possibly involved…their pick at 16, their 2nd rounder and/or future picks. Anyone heard anything about possible scenarios? Any guesses?
As a Kings fan, I’m somewhat in favor of moving out of the 8th spot if they can get good value. There seems to be a drop-off right after that spot (depending on who you ask obviously) and might ramp up the pick’s value to net them something pretty decent in trade. Not sure I’m in love with either of these scenarios honestly, but if it balances the roster and jettisons JT’s contract, I guess I can get behind it and just hope Smart/Gordon/whoever doesn’t end up being an absolute stud.
Honestly though, whatever they do, anything is better than the last few years with the MaGoofs…at least these new guys aren’t pulling a Major League on the town and are actually trying to win basketball games.

llperezpersonally, i think the kings need defense first and foremost. I mean they have cousins, gay, thomas and mclemore and others who can all score. I think there are 2 guys, 1 of which should be available at 8 and that’s smart and gordon. Both of those guys will bring immediate defense and play a position that could use an upgrade. I would stay put.

LlamaDramaParticipantAm not a huge fan of brandon knight and I like Larry sanders but his bad attitude might not mix well with cousins (who honestly isn’t as immature as perceived), I would love for us to grab millsap but what they really need is a defensive power foward someone who could at the very least consistently alter shots, I think they shouldn’t trade until they see who could potentially fall to them, saving themselves from making a mistake much like they did in 2011 with jimmer, as they ended up with john salmons (huge contract), and missed out on brandon knight who unexpectedly fell that night, regardless I think they will have a chance at a good prospect, 5-8 in my eyes is all a gamble, have a feeling randle, smart, vonleh, or Gordon could fall their way into Sacramento’s lap, I like all of those guys but if they could find a trade that suits, one that hopefully doesn’t include mclemore, gets rid of one of those big contracts jt, landry etc and hopefully manage to at least acquire a pick farther back, I would be happy, I trust these guys are better than the maloofs and Petrie.

ChoppyParticipantDon’t say that too loudly or Detroit might hear you and try and get the kings to trade for Josh Smith…

OhCanada-ParticipantThat would give Sacramento two qaulity starters. Both playrs sre young and still developing. I like it for Sacramento. Its a gauranteed upgrade to their roster.
Milwaukee may not want to make this deal unless they truly believe Smart will available or Payton have high upside. Knight is still only 22 and has alot of room to grow.

PlatypusParticipantBored in class so I played around on the trade machine
Sac sends: Detroit has the right to swap 1st round picks in 2015, a 2nd rounder in 2014, Terry, and Derrick Williams
Det sends: Josh Smith
Okc sends: Thabo (S&T 1 yr deal)
Sac recieves: Josh Smith
Det recieves: the right to swap picks, a 2nd rounder in 2015, Thabo, and Derrick Williams
Okc recieves: Jason Terry
Sac: get a shot blocker and someone to stretch the floor with Cousins and someone to run the court with
Draft pick – Mclemore – Gay – Smith – Cousins
MacCullum – free agent – Outlaw – Landry – Thompson
Det: frees itself from Josh Smith and money to sign Monroe and brings in someone to mentor KCP and Sefolosha can play the 3 until its figured out
Jennings – Stuckey – Sefolosha – Monroe – Drummond
Bynum – KCP – Singler – Williams – 2nd round pick
Okc: brings in a scorer (6th man) and a veteran who has won a ring, can let Jackson focus on being a playmaker and not worry about scoring, brings in flexibility to back court. If I am OKC I would hope that Payne falls because he is someone who would be great off the bench and could play right away
Westbrook – Lamb – Durant – Ibaka – Perkins
Jackson – Terry – Jones – Collison – Adams

Moon RiverParticipantHe also mentioned that he believes that 2 teams with top 10 picks will trade them. Only two weeks to go so this is really going to start heating up. Love this time of year.

NtsapParticipantSanders and Cousins are cool with each other . However bucks value both of those players highly interesting to see what they do.

piratejpParticipantHe’s really athletic and should develop into an adequate outside shooter within the next couple years. He could be a plus defender if he sets his mind to that. I don’t think he’s the next coming of Ray Allen or anything, but given what his trade value likely is (sweetener) at this point, better to keep him and (hopefully) develop him into something useful.
That said, I’d almost certainly trade him before I’d trade McCallum at this point.
Also agree the Kings need D…both Gordon & Smart make a lot of sense for them, but keep hearing trade. Be interesting to see what happens.
