Anyone see a player or two from Florida Gulf Coast vaulting into the first round of the 2013 draft?

If they beat Florida, Sherwood Brown and Bernard Thompson will certainly be making some draft noise. If they don’t beat Florida I think both of them will go sometime in the second round.

I don’t think so, even 2nd round is a reach, they’re a nice story and I wouldn’t be surprised one bit to see them run the tables and win the National Championship, but remember, George Mason didn’t get anyone drafted either, the 2011 Butler didn’t either, so I don’t think so.

Gordon Hayward 9th pick in 2010 draft
Shelvin Mack 34th pick in 2011 draft

I said 2011 Butler didn’t, I accounted for Hayward, forgot about Mack, but my point in general is that other than those are the exception.

Wouldn’t be surprised one bit if they run the table and win the national championship? That would be the biggest shocker in basketball history.

Guys. This has been fun. But if you’ve been watching what the other Florida is doing, then you know this run ends with FGCU’s next game. Florida has two game tapes and a week to prepare for FGCU, they will create stops, there will be none of these lob passes and the FGCU guys aren’t going to know what hit them. But I’m hoping for a solid game and I will certainly be watching.

I do think Brown will have a chance to get drafted. A lot of guys that are juniors that people have as second rounders might return for next season. That could open up a some spots for him. He has a great work ethic and a never give up attitude. The guy was a walk on and is now the face of that school. I think some NBA teams would take a chance on him, somebody like the Spurs maybe? I said in another thread I think in a couple of years Comer has a chance to get drafted too if he gets a consistent jumper. He isn’t athletic but very crafty. I think Chase Fieler might get some looks too next year and Bernard Thompson depending on how they follow up. From watching the game yesterday does anybody think my cousin Eric Mcknight has a chance to get drafted in a couple of years? He is still raw basketball wise because he only started playing once he got taller. But he is fluid and athletic at 6’9. Has a long wingspan. Somewhere in the 7 foot range. He just needs to get bigger. He is the size of an NBA 3 right now. And he needs to play smarter on defense because he finds himself in foul trouble a lot. I think he could be a Tyrus Thomas or Larry Sanders type player.

Have loved watching them this tourney. Don’t see any 1st rounders but maybe 2nd rounder or two. Had never heard of them before this but this team has shot the ball well and has looked great.
