Who are some people that you think will make the all star game this year?

    Some of my thoughts…

    WILL/SHOULD be there:
    Andrew Bynum
    Monta Ellis
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Kyle Lowry
    Andrea Bargnani

    COULD be there: (Some longshots)
    Guards:
    Brandon Jennings
    Ty Lawson
    James Harden
    Tyreke Evans
    Jose Calderon
    DJ Augustin
    Jarrett Jack
    Kyrie Irving
    Ricky Rubio

    Forwards:
    Josh Smith
    Ryan Anderson
    Danilo Gallinari
    Rudy Gay

Centers: (All have very simular stats, but the Western Conference does need a Backup, and injuries could happen…)
    Greg Monroe
    Tyson Chandler
    Marc Gasol
    Roy Hibbert
    Demarcus Cousins
    Spencer Hawes

Now i know i threw a lot of names out there, and obviously theres some rediculous longshots that wont make the team but are having solid seasons with their teams. But I just wanted to know that if there was anybody on these list that your think have a chance to make the team, or should be there that havent been there before.

Roy Hibbert deserves an all-star appearance this year. Horford has been the back up centre in the east for the past few years, but his numbers are down and his team is actually having a worse year than Indiana. The only centre in the East with better numbers is Greg Monroe, but his team sucks.

Marc Gasol should be the back up in the West, he hasn’t been great, but he has been very solid and his team isn’t too bad. He is averaging 13 points, 11 rebounds and  almost 3 blocks and 3 assits and I don’t believe there is a centre other than Bynum that deserves the spot more than him.

Your guard list confuses me, I mean Jarrett Jack isn’t even the best guard on his team. Not like it really matters, since the guard position is stacked for both the West and the East and none of these players have much of a chance.

According to the early voting returns

these guys are the starters right now

    Western Conference-

    *

    Center/Bynum….Forwards/Griffin & Durant…..Guards/Kobe/CP3

    *

    Eastern Conference-

    *

    Center/Howard….Forwards/Lebron & Carmelo….Guards/Wade & D Rose

    *

    So the coaches Select 1 center…2 forwards……2 guards…..and 2 players from any other position…..

My guess as to who the coaches will select for the WEST would be_

    CENTER-Marc Gasol

    Forwards/Kevin Love/Dirk/Aldridge

Guards/James Harden/Tony Parker /Westbrook(I think Monta Ellis & Kyle Lowry has played better then Westbrook & Parker, but coaches will hold the Rockets & Warriors record against them)

    *

    *

EASTERN CONFERENCE Reserves i think the coaches will select…

    CENTER-Roy Hibbert

    FORWARDS-Bosh/Deng/Amare

GUARDS-Rondo(Before the season started i pegged Rondo,Deron Williams & Wall as the reserve guards for the East, but only Rondo as been solid so far..D Will started off slowly ,but he’s picked up his play the last 2 weeks and Wall looks unhappy and hasnt improved as much as alot of folks thought.) So besides Rondo, the Eastern reserve guards spot are wide open, some guys from teams with losing records might make it……So 2 of these guys Jennings,D Williams,Joe Johnson or Ray Allen have a chance to make the team..

Ray Allen BTW is playing his best ball since he has become a Celtic, shooting ridiculous percentages, if he keeps it up, I say he makes the All-Star team based on his previous achievements and current basketball. Damn it he is good for someone nearing 40

I really think Kyle Lowry and Monta Ellis need to be there in the West.  Do you think that if their respective teams pull to .500 or near it that they will have a better shot of getting voted in by the coaches?

I understands Jack wont make it, it was just one of the names i decided to throw out there, he’s stepped up with Gordons injury but he wont make it.

Tyson Chandler could be a shot at the reserve C position unless David Stern puts in another forward instead.

Bynum should definitely make it, he’s been playing very well in the West, and certainly better than any other C out there.

Lakers made the right call holding onto him, hopefully he can just stay on the court for an extended amount of time so we can get a feel for their ceiling.
