I know it is very early to predict which teams will be in the NBA Finals this season but I still thought it would be fun and interesting to see what teams you guys believe will make it through the West and the East and play for the NBA championship.

For me I am going to go with a rematch of last years Finals, The Los Angeles Lakers against the Boston Celtics.

Lakers- I believe that currently in a seven game series nobody can beat the Lakers, down low they have Bynum and Gasol, two seven footers who are more then capable low post scorers, can both rebound and their length gives any team in the West problems, this and they have Mr. Versatile, Lamar Odom coming off the bench which gives them even more length and a guy who can work you in the post and can handle the ball in the fast break and even run offensive sets, he can rebound and has shown consistency so far this season which he normally lacks. You have, in my eyes the best Basketball player in the game on your team Kobe Bryant who has learned to become a team player and has displayed strong leadership skills in recent years. Kobe possesses that killer instinct and is the best closer in our game today, he can score in a variety of ways, the 3, in the post, mid range, getting to the rim/or foul line. He has shown time and time again that he is the guy to go to in late game situations and though he is getting older, still can play at an elite level. Next you have Matt Barnes and Ron Artest, both guys who are hard nosed, aggressive defenders who can, on a given night, hit open threes/ and score consistently, Barnes is great at attacking the glass and both are great perimeter defenders, both capable of defending the opposing teams best perimeter player. They bring toughness and energy that is needed for any successful team. Derek Fisher, though not exactly a quality PG anymore, is still capable of hitting open shots and also always comes through to hit a clutch basket as he shows time and time again. The Lakers though have now brought in Steve Blake to share minutes with the older veteran Fisher. Blake can handle the ball and fits the Triangle Offense very well. Shannon Brown this year has shown more then just the ability to dunk, he has shown he can come off the bench and bring firepower to the Lakers offense and has a much improved perimeter game and when he can shoot the ball, the Lakers are very deadly.

Celtics- when healthy there frontcourt consists of Kevin Garnett, Big Baby Davis, Jermaine O’Neal, Shaquille O’Neal, Kendrick Perkins and Paul Pierce. Now tell me who can match that in the East? Garnett provides defense and scoring, Big Baby has shown he is a solid contributor off the bench, Both O’Neals can defend any big men because of their toughness and big bodies and can still score a decent about of points when given oppurtunity. Kendrick Perkins in my mind is the best low post defender we have in our game and really makes the opposite teams big men work for points and he never backs down, his effectiveness goes beyond just scoring points, put him in Game 7 last year and you may be looking at a different outcome at the end of the game ( this coming from a Laker fan). Paul Pierce aka the Truth has shown consistency throughout his career and displays the ability to score and distribute the ball very well. Ray Allen still remains as one of the top shooters and efficient players in our game. He almost shoots as well as the Holy Land of Shooting ( 50 FG, 40 3 Point Field Goal Percentage, 90 FT  but only misses 90% FT by 2%) and has shown the ability to knock down clutch shot after clutch shot when needed for his team. Rajon Rondo is the catalyst of the Big Three and means as much to them as they do to him. He nearly averaged a triple double in the Playoffs about two seasons ago and this season almost averages 14 assists. He rebounds very well for his size and has proven to be an all around player other then shooting but considering the fact he rarely ever shoots anyway unless he is more then just wide open, is not much of a concern right now especially since he plays with such a great team, his court vision is excellent and the timing of his passes are right on. He is no slouch and defense either and is very good playing the passing lanes and due to his big hands can really bother the person he is defending.

I dont think that it will happen but i think Spurs vs. Celtics would be a great final! The Spurs are firing on all cylinders this year.

I’d say it’s between Miami,Orlando and Boston out East and the Spurs and Lakers out West. Kobe vs LeBron would be a huge final and one more trip to the finals for the likes of Shaq or KG would be nice to see.

At the moment I’d just favour Boston and Lakers for the final.
