 Sort of irrelevant, but me and a friend was arguing a week ago about Ish Smith and Jeff Teague.A game of theirs came on a couple days ago and I said Ish Smith was faster and quicker than Jeff Teague was, my friend didn’t believe me and thought Jeff was the superior athlete of the 2. What are you guys’s take?

Ish Smith is a waterbug.  I think he’s probably quicker than Teague.  Teauge is more explosive and stronger than Ish, but Ish is one of the quickest players I have seen in a while.  Very hard to keep in front of on D.

 Watch Wake’s game vs Kentucky and John Wall.  People that watched Ish for a while knows that he has every bit the speed and quickness of Wall and probably as much overall athleticism, just not as tall or long.  The other major difference is, Wall is a terrific finisher and Ish is not.   This is why he sticks around, because of his speed and athleticism because the other parts of his game are quite raw.

 Right, I’ve watched about 15 Wake games from the 2008-09 season and Teague was quick and fast in his own right, but Smith was clearly faster and accelerated quicker than Teague. Teague was stronger and just overall a way better scorer than Smith, but I think Smith is as quick as anyone i’ve seen.

Except Ty Lawson , Lawson abused Smith in college.

 speed for speed, Smith may be faster than Lawson…and I am a UNC fan.  like I said though, Ish doesnt have the skills to compliment his great speed and athleticism.  Lawson is fast but he knows how to use it and almost is never out of control with it.  Smith’s speed often would find him in a troubled spot and he didnt know how to get out of it.

Still stunned at how far Wake Forest basketball has fallen since the 2008-2009 season when they beat UNC and many projected them to make a final four run.  Can they just admit hiring Bzdelik as their coach was a colossal mistake?

 I said it when they announced it.  Said it about Brownell at Clemson too.  Bzdelic basically lost his entire team since he has been there.  Not too long ago, Wake was a top 5-10 team in the nation under Prosser.  I admit, I was very critical of Gaudio….but damn, they shouldve kept him over Bzdelic!

These are average coaches at best that even if they could take a team a notch higher, thats not the coach you go for in the ACC to compete with UNC and Duke.  State was lucky to get Gottfried, because they had ruined themselves with 5 years of Lowe and about 8 years of Les Robinson, with a brief intermission (but non-exciting style of ball) from Sendek.  NOBODY of note wanted that State job….I think Jeff Capel was even considered but chose to be an assistant over that.  Shaka Smart turned down a couple extra mil a year to come less than 3 hours down the road.  We know Sean Miller didnt want it.  Sorry for the State tangent, but just saying…these ACC schools will never compete at the top as long as they dont at least pretend like they want to take their schools to the highest heights.  Most of them have the money to afford better.

1. Ish is quicker laterally, but Teague is longer and stronger.  I’d probably pick Ish in a foot race as well. 

2. Bzdelik had better turn things around this season or he should be out the door.  I was also critical of Gaudio and when they fired him my only thought was, "They must have a big name lined up."  Then they hired Bzdelik…

Ish is faster and quicker, but I don’t think he’s as vertically explosive as guys like Teague and Wall.
