So everyone is talking about some of the FAs on this site.. Everyone knows Chandler, Nene, Crawford, Gasol, blah blah blah.

    Heard it all..

Here are some guys that I think could be very important pickups but arent getting any love:

Rodney Stuckey – Cant see the Pistons bringing him back since they have tons of players at the 2 and just drafted a young PG.. Stuckey’s days of running the point are over BTW, he is a 2 guard and can be a damn good one.. Guy is 6’5 with a mans body and can really score the ball at will.. If he goes to a team where they have a dire need at the 2, you could see a huge scoring year from him.. If he goes somewhere to run the point, meh, he will be average..

Josh Howard – A swing man who was coming into his own while in Dallas.  Sure he gets hurt a lot and he is a loose cannon but they guy brings some great tools to the table.  At 6’7, he has great size for the wing positions and has a littany of moves to score.  He is a nice defender when he wants to be.  Could he be a sleeper pick up for the Bulls or Clippers???

Andrei Kirilenko – AK47 still has some game left in him.. Plus, he has that sweet dragon tattoo on his back now.. That alone should be enough for someone to give him some money.  Seriously though, he is still a superb defender at the 3 spot and could be a huge piece for a contending team.  However, at one time in his career, there were rumbings that he didnt like being second fiddle to Williams/Boozer on given nights.. He prefered to be the big man on campus and have his team lose.  Well, here is his opportunity to tag on with a good team and be a 4th option or play with the Cavs/Raptors and be their scorer…

Carl Landry – Legit 4 in the NBA and has a proven record.  He is a great backup and could be a solid starter.. If he wants to win big, he will have to be a backup somewhere.  Plenty of teams are looking for sold big men to play behind their vets.  If Boston cant bring back Big Baby for some reason, they could be calling.. Also, the Spurs cant play Duncan 42 minutes a night so they will need another player to bang in the post with Blair.

Tayshaun Prince – The team that gets Prince needs to understand what they are getting.. He is a staring 3 on a contending team but he will not score 20 points or get you 10 rebounds.. He is a defender who will not turn the ball over and can do more than just defend and shoot.. He plays a good, not great, all around game and he is super smart.  If a team brings him in expecting to get 20 points out of him, they are crazy.. I want to see this guy be successful again.  IDK why, but I have always liked him.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. – Guy has been hurt for a long time but is looking to come back healthy.  A nice, smart player who can be a solid 2/3 with some great size.  Probably will see some glimpses of a really good player but will mainly be average.  Smart shooter with really good size and a basketball mind.. Always a good fit with a contender.

Kris Humphries – He had a great year, for him, and that is going to make some teams come after him really heavy.  I think now that he is away from Kim, it will make even more teams want him.. Yall probably think that I am crazy but I do think that teams will look at that as a distraction for him and his players.  A fantastic rebounder is something that every team needs and he has shown that he can be that.

Josh Howard back to the Mavs for the MLE, if they don’t resign Butler?

What about Stuckey to the Nets they could use some more offense.

I agree with you on Prince and Landry.

    Hahaha!

Other than that atrocity, this was an interesting post. A guy like Mike Dunleavy could make a good bench a great bench. High basketball IQ, excellent shooting ability and a smart passer; it’s a wonder there is virtually no buzz surrounding him.

He’s my favorite player, and I’ve been following him very closely for a long time.

You couldn’t be any more wrong in that statement. Kirilenko was frustrated because the Jazz were losing playoff games, NOT because they were winning without him. Kirilenko was playing about 20 minutes a game as Utah lost their first two games against Houston. He wanted more touches and playing time, but he never once suggested he should be the number one scoring option. Jerry Sloan actually starting running more plays through him and the Jazz ended up winning that series. Kirilenko hit the go-ahead three-pointed in game 7, and played excellent defense on McGrady down the stretch of those games.

I remember it so well because it was the first time Utah made the playoffs since the Stockton and Malone era. I have the games recorded and enjoy re-watching them every once in a while.

    @nomoney

The guy demanded a trade and was even willing to give up 63 million dollars on his 4 year contract.  He was pissed because Deron Williams was running the show.. He was mad because he was an All-Star before and now he wasnt an All-Star.. I swear man.. He is a write up about it.. You can look more into it if you want..

I see nothing in that article that proves my memory wrong (in fact I remember reading that very article).

Kirilenko, Williams and Sloan all made up. The Jazz front office turned down trade offers that involved Shawn Marion, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter because they were so intent on keeping Kirilenko. If he cared more about stats than winning, he would have been shipped away a long time ago.

It’s no secret he wanted off the Jazz at one point, but that was four years ago and it had absolutely nothing to do with the motivations you listed above.

    Year before it happend:
AK47 is the team leader and he is an All-Star but they dont make the playoffs…

    Year it happend:
First time the team has made the playoffs in 10 years but AK47 is the 3rd best player and is complaining about not getting enough shots or playing time, even though they are the best they have been in 10 years..

Take Kirilinko out of the equation and try to look at this as if it were Tracy Mcgrady when he played for the Magic or something.. Then, why does he want to leave???

BECAUSE HE WOULD RATHER BE THE BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM THAN WIN!

The only reason he ended up staying is because he cried.  Then, Jerry Sloan’s concrete heart chipped and broke a little bit so they had a meeting where he stroked Kiriliko’s ego for an hour.. He told him he was good and important to the team, because he really was, so he decided to stay.

I am not saying that He was not important to the team and they could have done it without him, because they couldnt have.. He was the 3rd reason they got where they were.. All I said is that at one point in his career, he didnt like taking a back seat to Williams/Boozer… That is very true!

He broke down because they were losing, as I mentioned before. Once he starting getting more involved in the offense (not scoring more points, mind you) the Jazz started playing better.

There is nothing anywhere that suggests Kirilenko would rather be the first-option and lose rather than be a role-player and win. In fact, he just wanted the opportunity to be a good role-player (which happened quite quickly).

And I really don’t need lessons in Utah Jazz history from you. I was obsessed with the Jazz during the 2006-2007 offseason. I was very actively following the Kirilenko drama at the time it was happening. Skip to the part that proves you right.

Otherwise, this is a very silly argument that isn’t even on-topic.

    And what the hell?

Kirilenko wasn’t an all-star the year before. He was injured for the majority of that season. He was an all-star in 2004, the year Utah finished 41-41.

And the last time Utah was in the playoffs prior to that year was 2003, not 1997 as you suggested (come on, they were in the finals in 1998!).

And Mehmet Okur was the third best player at the time, he was even an all-star that season.

Dunleavy jr. has to be on the league’s All Underacheived Players List…..In college he lead Duke in shot blocking..He’s a great shooter, decent athletic skills, passer and high IQ..He’s someone the Bulls should look at..They need another guy that can create plays and some outside shooters..

Landry is a solid bench guy..Wherever he’s gone he’s contributed..

That’s not really fair. I wouldn’t expect him to know every bit of Jazz trivia (but how do you not remember the 1998 finals?). He’s a knowledgable poster who has some of his facts a bit off.

It’s all irrelevent anyhow. Hope this topic can find its way back on track.

Grant Hill is a Free Agent, and I personally think that he can help a team just as much or even more than the aforementioned players. He is a battle-tested veteran, knows his role, can score the ball, rebound if needed, and even run the point in emergencies, and he can also guard the other team’s best play. I think he’d be a great addition in OCK, or Miami.
