Face of Franchise?

With all this uncertainty in the NBA, I thought I would pose the question of who you see being the face of your franchise in 3years? I know some teams will not have that player on their roster right now but just have a think.

I feel the Pacers will have two: Roy Hibbert and Paul George.

As a Pacers supporter, I will

As a Pacers supporter, I will cry if Roy Hibbert and/or Paul George are the faces of our franchise in three years.

Hibbert can be a generic verson of Rik Smits and I'm a George fan, but I don't think either of those guys will be good enough to carry a franchise in three seasons.

Utah Jazz- Gordon Hayward &

Utah Jazz- Gordon Hayward & Derrick Favors, The franchise has already pretty much hinted to these two guys it was theirs for the taking, saw incredible glimpses of what Hayward could do throughout the season, coupled with Favors defensive tenacity it should be these two hands down as of now, i like the two other rookies coming in, but dont think they are on parr with either of these guys. This could also change depending on where they land in the lottery this year with the possibility of landing 2 more picks in the top 14, if they somehow get their hands on Barnes, Davis or Drummond &$#%#&@! will get riddiculous in salt lake real quick.

Indiana Basketball...../

Who do you see it being for Indiana? Right now I believe that those two will be the best players we will have on the roster. I don't think we will be recieving a high draft pick anytime soon and Indiana never seems to attract the big name free agents.

I guess at this point, you

I guess at this point, you have to go with those two since they'll probably be the best two players on the team.

I'm hoping that the Pacers are able to land an actual franchise guy either through free-agency or trade. I'm HOPING.

I remember when JO arrived in town... He had the talent and paid his dues playing behind very good bigs, but nobody thought he'd be our franchise guy. I'm hoping we can get another player like that... I mean, maybe George IS that guy.

I can see Hibbert giving

I can see Hibbert giving 18ppg-10rpg-2apg-2bpg and Paul George 21ppg-7rpg-3apg-2spg-1bpg in their primes, which is hopefully about the same-time. Hopefully they have one other guy who can score points and surround themselves with good defensive roleplayers and shooters.

as a raptor fan

i'm ALWAYS optimistic about the raps doing better every year. i get excited for all the moves made and feel like things are getting better... that hasn't changed but to guess on a face or faces of the franchise right now? its hard (for me)..

sure the closest thing would be demar and jonas but as much as i love both of them as players.. i don't feel like they can get to the level that they deserve to be a franchise player. the type of player who can carry a team on both ends of the floor and emotionally lead to help the team win.

IMO franchise players are tougher on their teammates than the coaches are. they expect their teammates to perform at the same level and intensity as they do. the kobes, KGs, duncans... that's one trait you can't work on

remember i like both players... demar is constantly improving with his amazing work ethic and jonas was a great pick at the draft spot they had.

but

demar doesn't have IT.. he can hone his bball skills but can he be a capable leader?

jonas has a fine skill set, he can work on his body and improve tremendously but you really never know what a player can do until he plays in the nba. its too early to expect that much from him

that's how i feel about this.. our team (the raptors) are filled with role players and are in need of a superstar to push them to the next level

with that said... i HOPE both demar and jonas can prove me wrong :D

My choices

ScottOant

What about Deron Williams??

As for me, the Toronto Raptors of course, I would choose DeMar DeRozan as our franchise player and possibly Jonas Valaciunas, but I have too see him play first.

For the lakers i know kobe

For the lakers i know kobe will still be around but youd have to assume the franchise is being lead by an improved Andrew Bynum at that stage.

I think its almost certain he will leave the nets if the lockout takes the whole season, and even if there is a season I don't think it will seem as attractive to him as other teams. I mean we would need to get D12, along with signing a few other role players, i don't see that especially happing, i mean lebron, wade, bosh, boozer, amare, melo all passed on nj. I know this was way before we got Deron Williams, but they knew that if they would have joined the nets someone would follow them(mostly talking about lebron, wade, melo, and amare). Plus as much as the hype of the new brookyln arena the nets are trying to sell, it won't compare to the historical feeling of madison square gardens. I honestly think its dissapointing that NJ no longer gets to have an nba team, and NY gets another. NJ basically only have the devils(nhl) as a team that brands it team as NJ.

As a Spurs fan...

I can't say Timmy because he's past his prime and in the twilight of his career

Can't say Manu because he'll be about 35-36 in 3 years

Can't say Tony because I'm not sure if he'll even be in a Spurs uniform in 3 years

Can't say DeJuan because although I like him, I cannot dismiss the fact that he is inconsistent, has weight issues and most importantly NO ACLS IN EITHER KNEE!!!

Can't say RJ because I don't want to

Which now leaves me to the young'ns Tiago and Kawhi. But I honestly do not see either player becoming nothing more than above-average blue collar players with a defensive first mentality.

So, in short....

Utah Jazz

As a hardcore jazz fan, right now it would have to be Favors but hopefully it can be Myck Kabongo. Imagine their line up in 2-3 years:

PG: Myck Kabongo

SG: Alec Burks

SF: Gordon Hayward

PF: Derrick Favors

C: Enes Kanter

I think the influence of moving to Brooklyn and Jay-Z and Prokhorov will make him stay. Also, the potential of getting Dwight Howard will be worth the risk for him to stay.

Celtics it will be Rajon

Celtics it will be Rajon Rondo, and Bobcats it'll be either Kemba Walker or whoever they get in the lottery this year. I'm really hoping Charlotte can find a true franchise player in this draft, where they are ripe for the picking, would love for them to win the lottery and get Barnes.

For my Warriors, that's easy,

For my Warriors, that's easy, Steph Curry, although I do hope that we keep Monta, and maybe Jeremy Tyler could imerge into that role.

And RSharpe, I never understood all the fuss about Blair not having ACLs. Wouldn't that be good thing, cause then you can't tear them.

Depending on how much respect

Depending on how much respect he earned in the Bulls series by this time next year it could be Jeff Teague, but currently I would say Al Horford.

Granger will only be 31, guys. I think he will finally be a mature veteran player and will not yet have worn down

Yeah, I read the artile you

Yeah, I read the artile you posted, and even before that I googled to find somthing about it, and it basically was saying what the artile was saying.

But as long as his hamstrings are rock solid, does that mean he'll be fine?

Exactly. And this is where

Exactly. And this is where the Blair's weight issues come into play. Eventually, he'll get that fixed as long as Coach Pop is there, but regardless to what, I see him averaging around 14 and 9, but not being a franchise face for the Spurs. He is also undersized in his position.

Sorry Bmore DC

Just can't lump McGee in with Wall. Wall is the face the the franchise. You should be proud of it.

Philadelphia 76ers...Scare Crow Time...

76ers Picking my face of my franchise is easy at this point, although Iguadola is an amazing player and will no doubt be respected as such on his next team(presumablly a dynasty like the Lakers or fringe contender like the Memphis Grizzlies) he WILL be traded at some point for either another Big body/expiring contract and draft pick in the 10 to 15 range (lots of Rumors about Kaman/Foye and 2012 draft pick for Iguadola and rookie Nikoli Vucevic have been running around for months) and since this will leave us without Iggy's skills and production we turn to our youth...

1. Holiday Franchise Pg 20ppg/8apg/4rpg/2.5spg/1bpg 2. Turner Overall 3 position player 15/5/5 3. Young Athletic Sf 18ppg and 7rpg

other possibilities are this

1.Trade-We get a better offer than the Clippers and get a Scorer, whoever we get for trading Iguadola in this scenario would be young, many other rumors have been focused mainly on Monta Ellis, Joe Johnson and Rudy Gay...I'm in favor of trading for Rudy Gay(although I've always chuckled at his name) A guy like Rudy Gay or Monta Ellis instantly becomes the MAN as they are clearly in question of their places on their respective teams(Warriors and Grizzlies)...Iggy fits on the Grizzlies as a bigger, better and younger Tony Allen type, If the Warriors do let go of Ellis in favor of Curry they'll need a guy like Iggy to cover up for the defensive mistakes he can make...

2. Draft- Perry Jones(15th to 20th pick)Anthony Davis(8th to 14th pick) or gasp...Andre Drummond(1st to 7th pick)Bottom line is we need players with size and skill...

3. Free Agency- Hopefully the owners get the deal they want in the NEXT CBA and are allowed to TERMINATE the contracts of the countless players making excessive amounts on their team killing Deals...If this happens and we are allowed to CUT a player like Elton Brand(although he is a great player and team leader, his deal is killing this team's potential to get the missing piece either in free agency or trade) with Elton's massive deal off the Books and a roster of exellent young players, getting a superstar like Dwight Howard would be amazing for all parties...Howard and other Superstars should look to join young teams they can grow with and compete for championships with a longer window of oppurtunity

Personally as a Laker fan, I'm hoping for Dwight to come over some how. That'd be my fav situation. Especially considering how high I am on Darius Morris's potential as a pass first P&R point guard.

Bulls

It's pretty obvious that Derrick Rose is gonna be in a Bulls uniform for a long long time but I still feel that he needs a 1-2 punch combo to help him carry the load... Obviously, Bogans isn't the answer at the 2 position... I'm just hoping they get a young guy or a solid vet like J-Rich to help the team get better...

The Toronto Raptors have a

The Toronto Raptors have a ton of talent that is not to be denied, although a frachise player...I dont know about that. DeMar Derozan definitely has tons of potential and with a 3-point shot, more agressiveness, and refs actaully giving him calls he could easily average 23-ppg, although he may never average 6-rpg, or 3-apg, which is what franchise players need to do. A franchise player needs to effect the game dramatically across the board.

I really hope the Raptors grab Drummond. Andre Drummonds huge imposing size, alongside Jonas Valanciunas and Ed Davis would be an awesome frontcourt going into the future, and extremely versatile. Trading Bargnani and Amir may end up easier said then done especially after the new CBA but I just dont think a 6'11 260 pound monster who moves like Amare Stoudemire and is built like Dwight Howard is very easy to pass up on. Remember when the Raptors were decent, they had Bosh at the PF position no real SG, no real C, and no defense. While imagine if they can get someone playing a similar PF role, with that first/second option SG already in place with Derozan, and two great interior defenders with Davis and Valanciunas.
