valentinei know this is dumb, stupid, ridiculous ok.
im not saying ive been a rubio fan since day 1 or nothing like that, BUT, after watching him play enough. i say, ricky rubio will be a Hall of Famer. the guy can pass as good as any player in the game right now ***as a rookie***. his shooting stroke is extremely smooth and i can tell you he will become a good shooter. he is NOT afraid of the big lights at all.

ShekiruBoomParticipantwhy do you have BOLD STATEMENTS like this? clearly if you get it right, you are gonna go around saying i told you so and when you get it wrong you are just going to completely forget this BOLD STATEMENT. there is really no point in making bold statements if there is no price to pay for getting it wrong. sorry way too early in the morning to read facepalm posts

AccountCanBeDeletedParticipantIt’s pointless making a ‘bold’ statement like Rubio to be a HOF’er one day. The kid is still a rookie for crying out loud, he hasn’t even played 50 games in the NBA.
Come back to me once he’s a multiple All-Star, ALL-NBA player, who has led his team in multiple meaningful playoff runs or won a ring.
Until then this kind of talk is stupid, for all we know he could get injured at any point, he could end up struggling in years to come. Anything could happen. All we know now is the kid got potential and that we hope one day he will become a Jason Kidd/Steve Nash caliber player. So let’s just stick to talking about Ricky for ‘ROY’ and forget about any nonsense HOF talk.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantYou can’t predict a player to be a hall of famer when he hasn’t even played 30 games in the NBA, let alone a full season. That is just ridiculous. It’s not a bold statement, It’s a dumb statement.

HAMingtonGoiN11Participantanything can happen in the NBA. a lot of fans thought the same about Brandon Roy… R.I.P to his knees

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI wouldnt say his shooting stroke is "smooth". I would say it is smoother than it was when he was in Europe but it still has a slight hitch.. His arms are very close together and his elbows are too tucked.. His feet are also too close together. Its a work in progress but its getting better.. He needs to work with Steve Kerr in the off season.. LOL

Future_Scoutlocking your elbow is one of the most important things when shooting

Maniac MaciejParticipantHis shooting stroke is smoother than Shaq’s free throw stroke, I’ll give him that.

ChewyParticipantCan they keep Love w/ out pay max conract? If they keep Love that would improve their chances of keeping Rubio long term. Also I think they are second behind hometown Indiana for Eric Gordon in free agency. If they could build a team around Rubio, Gordon and Love things will be looking up in Minny… thats a lot of "ifs" though

M-DYMESParticipantChewy
U a little behind schedule. Love signed an extension, below max but @ 4 years with an opt-out after 3.

SwatLakeCityParticipantLets calm down about Rubio. Yes, he’s a great player. Yes, he’s in consideration for ROY, Yes, he has exceeded my expectations for this year, but future HOF? Come on, lets take some things into consideration.
1. He’s a rookie. This is his first year in the league. A lot can happen over the course of a career. Look at Tyreke Evans. After averaging 20, 5, 5 in his rookie year, you could say that he had HOF potential, yet now his averages are going down ever since his rookie year. Look at Brandon Roy, after winning ROY in 2007, his knees went down and now because of that he retired way short of a HOF career.
2. Remember what we thought of Rubio before he entered the league? We all laughed at Kahn for drafting Rubio and thought he was going to be the next Jose Calderon. How do you go from the next Jose Calderon to future HOF in a matter of months?
3. He still plays a little like Calderon in that his shooting stroke isn’t great, but his passing level is about the same. Calderon averages about 9assists per game, and so does Rubio. His defense is what sets him apart from Calderon. Is Calderon a future HOF, hell no. His defense is a lot like Rondo. So you could say that he’s a mix between Rondo and Calderon. Is Rondo a future HOF, maybe.
So give it like 5 or 6 years. Then we’ll talk. For now, its just too soon.

The8thDeadlySinParticipant@ Future Scout
Having a tucked elbow on your shooting hand is very important but having both tucked, where it looks like they are about to bang together is bad.. You want one to come out a little bit.. Turst me.. I have been to lots of shooting clinics..

NYK2010ParticipantJust like when ppl went crazy over Brandon Jennings first 2 months in his rookie season.

CameronParticipantWas an absolute beast his first like 20-30 games of his rookie season….Now he’s just a beast at negotiations, future agent of the year. Too early to call on Rubio, and not a bold statement.
