McDunkinAs Kobe Bryant struggled through a nightmarish first half in Thursday night’s decisive game of the NBA Finals, Marcus decided it was the ideal time to weigh in on the frequent comparisons between his father and the Lakers star. Here’s what Michael’s youngest son Tweeted late in the second quarter:
“NO ONE…And I mean NO ONE should EVER com par kobe Bryant to my dad an say that he is anywhere near close to my dad He’s jagging this game”
Then during halftime when ABC showed a chart comparing Bryant and Jordan in the NBA Finals, Marcus Tweeted, “I know y’all just seen the stats too” and “no comparison.”
It’s ironic that Marcus would be the one to make such a statement since he and older brother Jeffrey know all too well the burden of following in the footsteps of the greatest player in NBA history. They endured other kids following them to get a glimpse of their father, opposing fans chanting “You’re no Michael” at high school and AAU games, and reporters badgering them about their vertical leaps or why they don’t play with their tongue out.
Marcus, long considered the more talented of Michael’s two sons, averaged eight points and 3.1 rebounds as a freshman at Central Florida last season. Jeffrey averaged 1.6 points and 1.7 assists in 13.8 minutes per game as a junior for Illinois last season, but he will transfer to join his brother at Central Florida because his playing time was likely to evaporate next season.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantDeceiving headline, i thought michael really said this. I expect this from his “Sons” if anybodys dad is considered the best at something, then another man starts to get some buzz, the kids always going 2 say that their dad better. Family over anything or anyone thats the motto

SteroidParticipantI think his kid(s) need to shut up and try to make something of themselves instead of causing drama… Honestly, I don’t think the Kobe enthusiasts even care about the Kobe-MJ comparison. The only people who try to prove that Kobe isn’t better than MJ are the MJ fans. Kobe is a good player in his own right, and he has 5 rings. He’s probably going to be in the finals at least 2 more times before his career is over.
Kobe is Kobe…

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipanti think when everyone hears the name michael jordan they automatically jump on whoever is on jordans side before even hearing what the argument is about. to me no doubt is kobe the better “player” that doesnt mean his legend will be greater than michaels though. in my opinion jordan benefited greatly from never having to go up against and athlectics scorer/defender the best on ball defender at that time was on his own team. now every team has that one guy who can jump out the building, back then not so much. byron russel was good but he just couldnt keep up athleticaly with jordan. in my opinion kobe is by far the better shooter hes also a better passer and ball handler and then theyr tied in clutchness and defence. jordan was the original but kobe is the improved version

severinParticipantit’s not really about titles, who is better. I think it’s impossible to say who is better. they played in different times. also even though jordan has more titles kobe has been to the finals more. I Think micheal’s teams were unique because they never had any True Bigs that could score inside. Micheal and Scottie were the best post up players. You don’t see teams like that any more other then the denver nuggets.

gregoden08ParticipantJordan would never go 6-24 in game 7 of the Finals…Jordan will always be ahead of Kobe.

adamsdankParticipantFirst of all, Michael Jordan, for his career, is better in EVERY statistical category than Kobe(except FT%…both shoot83% for career). The same can also be said for Jordans Playoff numbers, better in EVERY category including FT%. Kobe has been First team all NBA 7 times to MJ’s 10. Kobe has been on the all defensive team 7 times to Michael’s 9. Jordan was Defensive player of the year in 1988. How many times has Kobe been the leagues Defensive MVP? Everyone of Kobe’s team that have won a title have been more talented than any team MJ won a championship with. An earlier post stated the Bulls never really had a true post presence. On the other hand you have kobe who could lean on Shaq, the m ost dominant big man ever, for his first three titles. MJ was MVP in all six finals he participated in Kobe was MVP two out of 5. Kobe has 1 regular season MVP to Jordans 5. Numbers and awards dont lie and the numbers, to most people who don’t have their lips wraped around Kobe’s black mamba, MJ is the better player.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantadamsdank you idiot! obviously your too stupid to understand what your reading since i wasnt comparing based on statistics.i was comparing theyr styles of play.ofcourse jordan is going to have better numbers when he doesnt have a good low post player on his team, all the offence ran through him in and ouside the post. he and scottie were the bulls post players.its pretty easy to score and put up great numbers on a team full of complimentary players
