I Mean the guy was a big prospect coming into the draft, he has a great shot , can drive , and has great ball-handling. I was though very dissapointed of him coming into the season exspecially after the all-star break. But What about next season does any suspect a change in his game or do you think he’s a bust?

You do know that he just played one season in the league. Why panic now ?? he has some spots to improve on but i see him lasting in the league and being a role player at worst if he doesn’t reach his star potential .

For one, he does not have great shot at all and that is his primary weakness right now- especially in terms of three pointers. He played on 23 mpg in his rookie year and put up okay stats as a backup. For him to get and extended amount of playing time he’ll either have to beat out Thaddeus Young for the sixth man role( unlikely unless Young leaves via free agency), compete for the same role with Lou Williams and/or also beat out Jodie Meeks for a starting role. If Iguodala is traded that would obviously give him a shot to start, too but I’m not sure if Philly will trade him. All of these situtations for more PT except the last one of course revolve around Turner improving his jumper. The only reason Meeks started over Turner is becasue he can drain the three ball and from a defensive standpoint, Jrue Holiday can effectively guard shooting guards. Lou Williams and Young are both instant offense and while Young might not be a three-point marksman he is a much better scorer than Turner is.

I’m tired of hearing he’s a possible draft bust…..when was the last time have you seen the 1st pick or the 2nd pick riding the bench during critical situations? you havent! if you ask me IMO he dosent fit in doug collins style of play he’s a point foward that needs the ball in his hand at least 30-45% of the time to be effective he can create and his mid range game is average if he went to another team in that draft he wouldve been in the race for Rookie of the year. The NBA is about oppertunity and thats something he’s not getting at this point.

Can’t label him anything yet – he had one season and needs more playing time. If you look at his game log, he put up good stats when he got playing time last season.

The 76ers knew what they were getting, to get the best out of him, he needs the ball in his hands. But they already have a player like that in Iguodala so i’m still confused with the pick, sure he was the best available but Favors or Johnson would’ve been a better fit IMO. Turner showed last season that he has the talent of a second overall pick, what i liked about his play was how crafty he was, very Roy-like in that aspect.

But the people above me have hit the nail on the head, he’s stuck in the rotation where guys like Young, Meeks and Iguodala(obviously) are preferred because, the first two, they don’t dramatically change the 6ers’ style of play. Iguodala is their star of course, he’s going to get the freedom to do whatever he wants on the court, with Iggy playing so much big minutes, it’s hard for Turner to get much of a meaningful chance, due to the fact that playing two ball dominant players at the same time, isn’t a really a good thing to do, it can be done but to put a shooter or an athletic player next to a ball dominant player is considered much better.

If Turner was a consistent jumpshooter, he would get more chances, for me, getting a consistent jumpshot is the key to unlock more playing time in his situation. However, Turner needs more time before he can be given the label of bust, i normally give a player six seasons before i can make that decision, also, i think he’s one to watch next season.

I still Like Turner’s potential, but like many has said, he doesnt fit the 76ers style of play. There has been rumors of Iggy being dealt for Ellis, how about Turner for Ellis? Deal will have to include 3.1 millions$ of additional contract going to GSW, but thats a deal I think thatll be interesting. Ellis-Iggy the 1-2 scoring punch, while Turner goes to a system where his skills is needed as Curry gets a big guard to play alongside who can also run the offense. Klay Thompson the gets time to develope, and when he’s ready, Turner can slide to the SF position.

He’s not going to be a bust.  He played decent the entire year, NO he did not play up to his hype, but he showed plenty enough to convince me that he will become a very good starting SG/SF in the league.  He showed this season that his rebounding and passing does translate to the NBA, he just needs to figure out how to use his tools to become a better scorer, which will come in time.

Evan Turner is going to be a very good NBA player once he gets the opportunity to show it. I believe the next time an NBA season is played, ET will be the leading scorer on the Sixers. In the Sixers Game 4 win, Evan Turner was the leading scorer. I hope Doug Collins is on here to read this…
