sitlbitoParticipant6th and last day of group play. 10 teams are already qualified for the round of 16. France,Israel,Finland,Poland(Group A),Serbia,Italy(B),Greece,Croatia(C),Czech Republic,Lithuania(D).
Group A:
Poland-Finland(to determine the 3rd and 4th place):9 am eastern
Bosnia-Russia(both teams aliminated):11.30 am
France-Israel(to determine the 1st and 2nd place): 3pm
Group B:
Serbia-Italy(winner takes 1st seed):8.30 am
Germany-Spain(winner advances,loser eliminated):11.45 am
Turkey-Iceland(must-win for Turkey,and they’ll win):3 pm
Group C:
Slovenia-Macedonia(must win for Macedonia,Slovenia should advance):9 am
Croatia-Georgia(Georgia playing for their lives,Croatia already qualified):noon
Greece-Netherlands(Greece secured first place,Netherlands eliminated if they lose):3 pm
Group D:
Ukraine-Belgium(almost win or go home): 8.30 am
Latvia-Estonia(kinda win or go home also): 11.30 am
Lithuania-Czech Republic(winner takes first place): 2.30 pm

sitlbitoParticipantFirst 4 games done and we have our first round of 16 game:Serbia will face Finland.
Serbia beat Italy,101-82,though Italy played without Belinelli and played their end of bench players a lot more than usual.
Belgium(3-2) beats Ukraine(eliminated with a 1-4 record) and advances to the round of 16. Places still to be determined by the Lithuania-Czech Republic game tonight.
Poland beat Finland 78-65 in a game where "facing Serbia’s monster team if you lose" was on the line. Poland will now advance and face either Turkey,Spain or Italy I think.
Finally,Slovenia won 62-51 against Macedonia and will finish third,advance. Macedonia still has to wait the results or Georgia and the Netherlands against Croatia and Greece.
The highlight of the day still to come:Germany-Spain in a win or go(stay?) home game.

sitlbitoParticipantAlso,Spain vs Germany=Pau Gasol vs Dirk Nowitzki, an it being a win or go home also means that the loser of those two will have played his last game with his national team.

herceg_bukuParticipantFirst off Bellineli was rested for most of the game, not sure if it was due to injury or they were just saving him for further competition. Serbia won by nearly 20pts, the game might have been a little bit closer had Bellineli played, but Serbias defense might just be the best defense in teh Eurobasket competition. Italy has a very solid starting 5, but when they go to the bench they just drop off so bad. While Serbias talent almsot doesnt drop off at all when they go to the bench, they are just a very solid team.
Greece is playing really well in this competition, I was surprised to see France struggle with Russia yesterday.

sitlbitoParticipantWhat a finish in Berlin! Spain was leading by 3,they foul Schröder on a 3 pt attempt,he makes the first 2 but misses the third,and Spain prevails,advances to the round of 16. Germany is eliminated after losing 3 games by 2,by 1 and in overtime. We’ll never see Nowitzki with his national team again,and honestly he didn’t look very good in this competition. 77-76 final score. Spain will finish 2nd or third.
Macedonia and the Netherlands will be mad,as Georgia beats a "I don’t care about this game" Croatian team(they’ll finish 2nd no matter what),71-58. If the netherlands lose against Greece,Georgia advances(likely),if the Netherlands win,they advance.
Latvia advances also after beating Estonia 75-64. Estonia is eliminated but showed a lot of heart,even leading by 16,by 11 after the half.

sitlbitoParticipantFrance destroys Israel who tanked/didn’t care about the game,as they rested Mekel,Casspi and Eliyahu,and lost 86-58(Parker didn’t even score,Fournier had 12 on 4/6 behind the arc).
Greece stays undefeated,beats Netherlands 68-62. Netherlands were THAT close to advance.
Lithuania takes 1st place in Group D after beating the Czech Republic in overtime.
Turkey had the nice idea to win against Iceland …in overtime in a meaningless game considering they knex they would finish 4th. I mean just tank the game and lose and don’t play 5 extra minutes.
The 8 games of the round of 16 are set.
Saturday:Spain-Poland

Sunday:Serbia-Finland
Croatia-Czech Republic

Time will be determined later. All games will be played in Lille,France in a soccer stadium being transformed in a Basketball place. The capacity of the crowd will be 27000. Remember:You have to go to the Finals to qualify directly to the olympics,and teams from 3rd to 7th will go to a qualifying tournament next year. It means lose the round of 16 game: No Olympic games.
