ESPN reporting trade is imminent!
Unless i'm seeing things ESPN bottom line is reporting DH 4-Team deal w/ lakers nugs and 76ers is imminent and could be done by Friday morning. Is this Dwightmare fianally going to be over?
Dwightmare isn't over until Dwight retires.
For some reason, I feel like this trade is going to fall through as well. There have been 3 deals that were reported "close" to being done and never got done. If this trade DOES go through, Philly will be the real winners, that is if Bynum decides to sign an extension, Lakers are giving up alot for Dwight and bum Harrington. I just have a strong feeling the Lakers are screwed either way, trade or no trade. Even with a core of Nash, Kobe, and Dwight, this team is bound to lose again to OKC in the second round.
Iggy for Bynum? If the Sixers pull that off, simply by managerial standards, my god...
If this trade goes down the 76ers GM will look like a Genuis, I don't know if there is a better C to play in Philadelphia than Andrew Bynum, he has a certain amount of toughness but it has to be reigned in...
Howard and Kobe would be a great Duo in LA with Nash playing the role of Pure Pg
I really just hope The Magic don't think they'll get more than this if they wait....
Just make the dam trade already Orlando!!!
Give the Lakers Howard and The 76ers Andrew Bynum, I'd love to a Lakers Vs. Sixers rivalry over the next 5 to 10 years, Bynum Vs. Howard LOL...
The Magic can rebuild by trading Pau to Houston...
The Nuggets get a defender for Kobe/Durant/Gay/Lebron etc.etc.etc.
Saw conflicting reports whether or not Gasol was involved. I really hope they keep him, because Nash will do wonders for Gasol.
If Pau Gasol is also part of the trade this might be the first bad trade in Lakers history.
And Why The Heck would Dwight Howard resign in LA with an aging Kobe and Nash? Especially since he likes Brooklyn more.
Dwight could use this season to rent a ring and then go off somewhere else to be the man.
I am not sure if any team comes out of this deal a winner. What does Orlando need an aging Pau and his contract for? Hopefully they get some damn good draft picks, though with Pau they will be just good enough to not get a great pick, either in the late lotto or as the 8th seed in the playoffs.
If the Sixers get Bynum they will be stacked at center but they would lose their best defender and perimeter player.
Denver does better in that Iggy is a better player than either Aflalo or Al Harrington, but Iggy is older than Afflalo and more of a small forward. If Iggy could play the 2 then this could be one of Denver's best teams. Iggy and Lawson in the backcourt with a front line of Gallo, Faried, and Javale McGee with Andre Miller and Jordan Hamilton off the bench.
This trade would make the Lakers worse, would turn the Magic into the Hawks of Disney World, still wouldn't turn Philly into a legit title contender this year, and would make Denver a little more dangerous and put them in that category of four or five Western Conference teams that are a notch below the Thunder.
With that Nuggets team I actually like the way they stack up against the Thunder. Iggy could guard Durant, McGee could defend the middle with Faried rebounding. Gallo could provide the scoring as a counter to KD. Put Ty Lawson on Westrook. They wouldn't have an answer for Harden unless Evan Fournier could step in there right away and would counter Eric Maynor and Perry Jones with Andre Miller and Jordan Hamilton. If Mozgov is still on the Nuggets then he gives them another solid big man.
If Gasol isn't included, then who goes to the Magic?
I really dislike this trade for the Lakers, You don't trade 2 All Star 7 footers(Gasol was one in the past) for one. Dwight Howard isn't that much better than Bynum, let alone Bynum and Gasol. Dwight Howard has shown he wants to be the number 1 option, he wants to be the guy. When Dwight Howard was the main focus of the Magic offense the team suffered. The Magic were the best when the rest of the team got to shoot, Turkoglu started the offense and then Dwight pretty much got his points off of rebounds are great high passes. He can't pass out of the double team, He can't dribble, he has no leadership abilities, he has a bad back, and he still has limited post moves.
Wasn't the story after Kobe told him he'd be a 2nd or 3rd option, he said he didn't want to go to LA? Now Steve Nash is a great ball distributor but Dwight still isn't going to get the touches or be in the position he wants.
Another thing, The best case of the Princeton offense in the NBA is the Sacramento Kings from the Chris Webber years, Great passing big mean, guard penetration, great shooters, good high/low post offense. The Lakers would have none of those except Steve Nash penetrating, Kobe would have to be the main source of a successful post offense.
But I love this trade for all of the other teams. Bynum with Evan Turner and Jrue Holiday, Maurice Harkless and Thad Young.
The Magic trading Pau for a ton of great young pieces in Houston, and Igoudala getting a new start in a new city.
The only dumb part of this trade is the Lakers.
Based on numerous reports all over twitter though, Gasol really isn't included.
It'd be very interesting if he was though, with the bold comments Kobe made recently about Gasol remaining a Laker as long as he was there.
With recent reports of Kobe being more involved this offseason with the front office and moves being made, I can't see him making a bold statement without having assurance that they will go through him before making any kind of Gasol deal. After all, they did run through 3 NBA finals together winning 2, that makes teammates grow close, no matter how many times Gasol goes white swan on Kobe. The respect for helping him get to #5 will always be there.
- If its a 4-Way w/o Pau can be:
4 #1'5 (3 from Philly, 1 from LAL, 1 from Denver)
76ers give up Iggy, Vucevic and 3#'1s for Bynum (he'll
commit close to home and max deal)
Nuggets give up Chandler, Affalo, #1 for Iggy and JRich (who
are great fits for Denver)
Lakers give up AB, Blake, Ebanks, McBob, Eyenga #1 for D12
Magic give up D12 for good young prospects - Affalo,
Chandler, Vucevic, Ebanks, and Miller and 5 - #1's.
You gotta think Houston can beat this deal. HOWEVER,
Houston may not be willing to give up JLamb (or perhaps DMo)
and that may be the sticking point.
Houston kinda fell in love with JLamb, White, and DMo over
the Summer. ORL likely wants JLamb AND DMo. Houston may
not be willing to give that up for AB or a Dwight rental.
Note, this is not my opinion, just something I got from a laker site posted by a friend.
I would really like to see how would Gasol play alongside Nash they would kill it in the pick and roll.
But if however Gasol is included in the trade I would like if the Lakers ask for a Sign and Trade for Meeks from Philly and another young wing from either Denver or Philly rather than acquiring J.Rich.
but... Orlando gets a 1st from each team, Afflalo, Harrington, Vucevic
Sixers ger Jason Richardson, and Bynum
Lakers get Dwight
Denver gets Igoudala.
League phone call scheduled for friday morning.
Well, Stein is reporting that Richardson will be going to Philly w/ Bynum, Harrington, Afflalo, Vucevic and AT LEAST 3 1's rounders( one from each team), and Dwight coming to LAL. No reports on who else will be going to LAL , Big Baby perhaps?, my speculation would be Reddick or a combo of Duhon and Q.Rich perhaps.
@ The Juice, looks like you beat me to it.
Forgot about Meeks, I wouldn't be surprised if he's involved heading to LAL. Otherwise I fully expect Barbosa to end up in LAL backing up Bean.
Stearn should cancel this trade for BB reasons!
I dig it.
Gasol and Dwight would be a nasty defensive duo, covering for the aged guards. Gasol is a reliable defender still.
Think how vicious teaming up McGee, Iggy and Faried will be for the Nuggets. They will run rings around opposing teams with those athletes.
and iggy's offense will shine in that uptempo offense, which is basically what they were trying to implement in philly.
they will still need that go-to guy (star power) to get them over the hump.
i really like this trade for all the teams, except orl.
Read harkless to Orlando too. Not a bad haul for a player you were going to lose but could have got more if they traded him a year ago.
The Nuggets are going to be good. I like them better than the Clippers.
I can't wait to play with this team in NBA 2K13...
