Twolves also get Clevelands late first round pick (currently 28th).

That is so stupid. Why would

That is so stupid. Why would minnesota give pekovic up for the 28th pick in the draft and alonzo Gee? He is averaging 16 points and 9 rebounds. They could get a decent amount more for him. I dont know why you even included the cavs in the deal. They dont need pekovic if they have varijao.

Varajoe is always injured, so

Varajoe is always injured, so they don't really have him. Pek is a good offensive Center, and the Cavs need efficient scorers to help Irving.

Unless I'm missing something ...

this trade doesn't really help either team at all, actually.

Wolves get Pau, an

Wolves get Pau, an experienced inside player who does not duplicate Love's talents, a Spainard like Rubio, a champion, a talented big who fits perfectly in Adelman's system.

Lakers get a stretch 4, back-up point guard, and a rotation defender who D'antoni trusts.

Jazz get a solid wing player and young talent (Williams) for Milsap's expiring contract.

Cavs get a highly efficient inside scorer, which they do not have right now.

But you are right ... this trade really doesn't help anybody or give any team what they are looking for.

A new report today now has

A new report today now has Minnesota showing interest in trading for Utah's Paul Millsap. Who might head to the Jazz if a deal is made? Here are the latest details.

ESPN's Chris Broussard tweets: "One of the teams Utah has talked to about Paul Millsap is Minnesota. The name of the very available Derrick Williams came up."

Lets figure for a second that Millsap and Williams are the two key pieces of the deal. Why might that work for both teams? From Utah's standpoint, they essentially flip an overachiever in Millsap who figures to sign elsewhere as an unrestricted free agent over the summer for an underachiever with upside in Williams who is locked up at a fairly reasonable rate for next year and in 2014-15 (team option). The Jazz have the cap space to gamble that the former No. 2 pick in 2011 will become a solid player if provided a chance of scenery.

This is a little more of a head-scratcher if you're Minnesota, which would likely also have to include a draft pick and/or someone like backup center Greg Stiemsma to make the deal work. Would Millsap be a guy they'd try to sign to a long-term deal after the season, perhaps as a replacement to Kevin Love? Or would this simply be a last-ditch effort to make a run at the playoffs (they trail No. 8 seed Houston by 7.5 games heading into Wednesday) with Millsap filling in at power forward until Love returns? If the answer is B, then such a deal would mostly just be a way to shed Williams' salary which seems a bit extreme since the second-year forward has actually played pretty well as of late and still has a reasonably bright future.

Still not feeling it, though....

I mean, clearly what Utah really needs in return is a PG (obviously).

And as far as Minnesota ... what they could probably use most is a better team doctor.

Do your favorite NBA team

Do your favorite NBA team have an all-star power forward? Well, good news, they're gamblers in the Paul Millsap lottery, too!

Hmm

If I'm Utah, why am I getting rid of a PF who's close to all-star quality and bringing in another PF who wouldn't help solve the logjam? Why am I not getting a friggin' PG?

If I'm Minny, why am I not getting back WING PLAYERS instead?! Offer Williams for Hayward or Burks instead!

Williams is a decent Power

Williams is a decent Power forward, and if he could play there more often he would at least be a quality starter and a good bench PF. He definitely isnt a SF. He has been doing ok when he gets minutes at the power forward.

I really don't want the

I really don't want the wolves to give up on Williams before they give him playing time for an extended period of time... Especially if all they get back is virtually the older version of Williams without the 3p threat..

This trade doesn't make sense

This trade doesn't make sense for Utah mostly. The whole purpose of trading Millsap or Jefferson is so you can give playing time to Kanter and Favors. Now Williams isn't going to pan out in Minnessota because he is not a SF and the PF position is already covered.

I want to see the Jazz making a play for Eric Bledsoe. If the Clips are willing to get KG they should be willing to get Millsap for a playoff push.
