According to @hoopshype and jsonline Ilyasova has 6 offers hes looking at… He has offers from Milwaukee, Brooklyn and Toronto along with 3 offers from European teams… They claim he is leaning towards a big offer from one of the European teams… Id like to see him stay in the US either with the Bucks or a sign and trade that will get the Bucks a decent player in return…

The Nets? Wow, so I assume that the firs their going to do on July 11th is sign Gerald Wallace and Ilyasova if they get him and Milwakee doesn’t match, or another unrestricted FA, and then pull off the Joe Johnson deal(and a Dwight deal as well if it goes down) and then resign Deron Williams who has Bird Rights. the Nets are going to break a record for the team with the most cap one of these years, especially if they get Dwight.

And just a quick question, how would the Nets include Humphries in a sign and trade if he doesn’t even want to go to Orlando? Can’t he say "Screw you, I’m going to Sacramento"? They should be able to include Lopez in a sign and trade since he’s a restricted FA.

Yes, it seems the nets would have to do everything in a certain order to stay within the rules. I think that may be one of the huge benefits of having a lot of cap space then also re-signing an all star that you own the bird rights to.I think Miami did something similar when they assembled their team, but of course they didn’t have the additional trades. I agree about Humphries, but I have a feeling that he may get a front loaded contract that exceeds what he is worth or overpaid by quite a bit in a one year deal to convince him to not only do a sign and trade, but to also make sure the salaries match up.

Ilyasova is Unrestricted.. Milwaukee doesn’t have the luxury of matching..

There is such a thing as "Caps Hold" that prevent teams from doing what you are suggesting

I think cap holds are just minimum numbers to approximate a resigned restricted free agent that you have not renounced your rights to. They shouldn’t be significant to stop what the nets currently have planned. Basically though, DEill has to go last because he can be resigned over the cap based on Bird Rights. That is no big deal considering how much has already been worked out and we still have more than a week until July 11 when this stuff all gets signed up.

If Ilyasova can get signed that would be awesome because he is one of the prime unrestricted free agents in the market right now. Ilyasova and Lopez is by any definition at least a good front court. Combined with DWIll and JJ which anyone would call a very good back court and you pretty much have a starting five that folks have to pay attention to in a big way. Crash is obviously good at SF. Will this team look overpaid in three years? That is another story. But this team is shaping up to be built to come out of the gates in Brooklyn as a legit NBA team. We weren’t sure if this team had a chance of being over 500 just two months ago. 500+ and a playoff series would be an accomplishment.

A cap hold is the amount of space a free agent counts towards a team’s cap. These “cap holds” factor in when a team signs free agents. If they didn’t exist, a team could use their cap space to sign other free agents until the space was gone, and then re-sign their own free agents using the Bird exception. A cap hold cannot exceed the maximum contract offer that player can receive on the open market (as defined by years of experience. The cap hold disappears if the team renounces their own free agent, that free agent signs with a new team, or re-signs with the same team.

I really think Ersan Ilyasova should stay in the United States and continue playing in the NBA.  He had a breakout season this past season with the Bucks, and I’m sure many teams would be willing to pay him very good money to help their team make a run in the playoffs.  Ersan can spread the floor very well for a power forward who can shoot very, very well.

He was one of the lone bright spots on that Milwaukee Bucks roster last season, and I’m sure they would love to bring him back.

Would have to see him end up in Europe after such a promising season in the NBA. The Nets would be a great landing place for him, or if he wanted to play the SF position Sacramento, Toronto or Cleveland would be ideal.

He’s going to be in demand anywhere he goes, always thought he was underrated, nice to see him getting his due.
