Bledsoe is heading to Milwaukee for Greg Monroe and a first-round pick in return. As a fan of neither team, I sit back and question the Suns’ front office with this deal; I feel as if they should have jumped on the first proposal when Thon Maker was attached to the package.

In addition to the initial post, I am seeing that a second-round pick was added to the deal by another source, but I don’t know how true this is. Can anyone confirm whether this is correct or not?

The Bucks are gonna be Dangerous. They clearly got the better Half of the deal. Bledsoe could very well be the final piece. Bledsoe, Middleton, Giannis, Maker is scary. Any word on Jabari Parkers return?

Parker should be ready by February, from my understanding. I just watched a YouTube link the other day and he’s rehabbing well, I just hope he sticks it out and returns to Milwaukee, in the offseason.

That would definitely be a Crazy starting lineup with all the Length and Skill Jason kidd can put on the floor with Malcolm Brogdon a legit 6th man canidate now. I think I may found a new team to run with on 2k lol

They should already be your team! Giannis is downright unfair. I’m 19-0 with the bucks in play now. Giannis has to be averaging at least 20-5-5 in those games.

I’m really happy the Bucks were able to pull off this trade without losing Brogdan or Maker. Realistically that first rounder will end up in the 20’s and Greg Monroe was never their future at center anyways. This likely wont be the starting line-up, but imagine this lineup in game (when Parker gets healthy):

    PG – Bleadsoe

    SG – Brogdan

    SF – Middleton

    PF – Parker

    C – Antendendenden… Greek Freek

This would be the quickest, switch heavy line-up in the NBA. Not sustainable against every team, but against opponents weak on the interior, this is going to be a vaccum on defense. Can’t wait to see it.

As for the Suns, I don’t hate this deal. My biggest issue is the same issue I have with the Kings trade of Demarcus (my hometown team), they should’ve gotten more. It wasn’t a bad trade for the Kings in hindsight, but they should’ve gotten another 2018 first rounder (top 3 protected) for Boogie in that trade.

I’m sure the Suns biggest regret is not pulling the trigger sooner, probably during this last years draft to get a pick in that 14-22 range, maybe CHA at 11? His value dropped similarly to how Okafor’s is dropping, although not to the same degree. Overall though, I really like Monroe’s fit on the Suns. He’s one of the best passing bigs in the NBA. On a young athletic team like PHX, he’ll be able to find Booker for more 3’s, hit J Jackson on backdoor cuts, and have some nice big-to-big oops to Chriss while operating in the high post.

    Trade Grades:

    – Mil: B+

    – Phx: C+

Now knowing Monroe won’t play, I’m confused why this was the trade they were "waiting for" unless there really wasn’t a market for Bleadsoe. They need veterans on the court playing with these young guys, not just Vets in the lockeroom (Chandler & J Dudley) and I still think Monroe could be that guy. He probably really doesnt want to be on the Suns.

As a Suns fan if we were offered the Maker then I’d have snapped the Bucks hand off. Monroe will be a FA this summer and how much the Suns use him I do wonder with Chandler, Len, Chriss and Bender in the frontcourt already.

The Bucks going forward with Giannis and Bledsoe on the same team will be interesting to see who will be the main ball carrier. If they can get Parker back and long term Maker turns out to be anything like his upside hype then they can be scary.

I highl doubt Maker was ever offered in any possible deal but this is a really poor deal for the Suns and we still don’t know if there are any protections on the pick or when it will come over.

This will increase the Role of Henson for the Bucks who plays a nice year in limited minutes and Jabari will also be back soon demanding minutes so overall an nice move by the Bucks. 30 mil over the next 2 years seems like a bargain now if Bledsoe stays healthy and locks in for the Bucks but Inkind of feel sorry for Brogdon who exceeded expectation by a very good amount. They also pay Delly 10 mio per year to be a backup pg so they kind of created a logjam now and have two of these players in Delly and Brogdon.

Overall pretty clear who won this deal and not to include any of the core players (Thon, Middleton or Brogdon) is a huge win for the Bucks and since we don’t know much about the pick I don’t know what the Suns really got aside from just shipping Bledsoe out.

The Suns were never going to "win" this deal or even get equal value in return.  That’s what happens when a player torpedos his own value and the franchise compounds it by essentially saying that he’s not wanted.

And again I’ll repeat, Thon is garbage.  He shouldn’t be a deal breaker or um….maker.  He still looks like he doesn’t know how to play basketball and he lied about his age too.  Dude is like already 24.

I totally agree with you on the fact that Bledsoe killed his ‚value‘ with his actions but I disagree on Thon. Well this age discussion is well documented but in the end we will never know for sure so I don’t want to go into this discussion but talk about his game for sure.

While I see that he is not the player John Henson is at the moment for example, I think the talent is there and he is growing into his body at this stage of his career. Unlike many I don’t see Thon as a center in the long run, I think he is more of a modern 4 with a nice jumper and more offensive potential then many realize. He still has a lot of flaws but regardless of his true age, he is growing into his body now and and already looks completely different then a few years ago in his highlight videos.

I don’t think he will be a Porzingis type of player since he doesn’t have the handles but he will come along and there is a lot of untapped potential. I mean what’s the risk? He seems like a nice dude, works hard, already transformed his body (like Giannis did by the way) and can pad the box score in many different ways. Look at Noel for example. He was on his way to a 4 year 70 million and has no offensive game at all, is slim himself and has similar defensive tools. I don’t say he will succeed but he works hard, is a good guy and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him being a core member of the Bucks going forward.

Good value for the Bucks and it adds an additional scorer and ball-handler. but I thought Brogdon was doing fine at the point. Bledsoe and Brogdon are both good defensively but I think Brogdon has more versatility with his better size.  Bledsoe is also more ball-dominant and less effective off the ball than Brogdon.  The extra ball-handling could relieve some pressure off of Giannis, but do they want the ball out of his hands more? It’s added talent, but it’s not a great fit around Giannis.  What it does add is a necessary primary ball-handler for when Giannis is off the floor, so maybe Kidd will stagger their minutes accordingly.  To me it doesn’t address their biggest weaknesses which interior defense and rebounding.  If they could’ve somehow gotten Tyson Chandler, this deal would’ve been perfect, even if it meant giving up Maker.  Thon is garbage anyways so it wouldn’t have been much of a loss.

If Bledsoe could play off the ball with John Wall, and be successful, I’m sure he can do it again.

Fit in college and fit in the NBA are 2 entirely different animals. Fit matters less in college especially on teams like UK who can overwhelm their opponents with physical talent.  The NBA is much more of a superstar centered game.  It matters more how the pieces fit around the star, in this case, Giannis.  Bledsoe is an infusion of talent, but on paper he’s not a great fit around Giannis.  If egos weren’t involved, I’d think about keeping Brogdon as the starter with Bledsoe being the scoring punch, primary ball-handler, creator off the bench.

Good move for this Bucks. Getting Bledsoe without giving anything key up is awesome for them. Phoenix got slightly more than I expected in return for Bledsoe after they announced he’d no longer be with them, so that’s a plus. I do wonder what Phoenix could’ve gotten if they played it cool about the tweet and continued playing Bledsoe.

I still feel as if Phoenix, was better off getting a return from Denver.

It would have made more sense because they would be filling a hole with Kenneth Faried and getting a position in return with Emmanuel Mudiay because Brandon Knight is out for the season. Mike James and Tyler Ulis is all they have currently.

Here are the protections on the first rounder:

    • Suns receive pick in 2018 it falls between Nos. 11 and 16.
    • If Suns don’t receive 2018 pick, they’ll receive pick in 2019 if it falls between Nos. 4 and 16.
    • If Suns don’t receive 2019 pick, they’ll receive 2020 pick (top-7 protected).
    • If Suns still haven’t received pick after 2020, they’ll receive unprotected 2021 pick.
