With the Embiid announcement here’s how I’ll react to the Sixers draft picks:

    1)  Okafor:  Oh shhht.  Embiid is really hurt.  Don’t like Okafor’s defense.  Think he’d do well with Noel still, woudln’t be the worst thing in the world, but just really worried that we used this pick on the big man.  I want to see Embiid become a star, and hate that it would be a wasted draft pick.

    2)  Russell:  Okay, im alright with this.  Means Embiid isn’t hurt too badly and Hinkie still sees the PG being the best pick for the future of the team (next year’s PG stock doesn’t look as promising as Russell/Mudiay).  Hinkie has gone into team building mode and I’m fine with that, because he thinks Embiid will still turn out alright.  If Embiid is hurt, why are we taking this guy if there is no low post threat to get the sniper his open shots?

    3)  Porzingis:  7’1” big Latvian kid.  Potential game changer.  I trust Hinkie’s time and effort, and will ultimately judge his talent evaluation by how this kid turns out.  It means Embiid probably needs more time to heal up and this is a slightly better piece to create a winner than a PG without weapons.  Gotta get the weapons, can get a distributor anywhere.  If Embiid isn’t right, let’s get him this weapon.

Basically after watching some Porzingis highlights and seeing his potential, I’d like to see him a little more in real game sitautions running the floor with athletes and see how he stacks up.  As a BIG kid with skill, I am impressed right now, and wouldn’t mind taking him on his upside over Russell (who I am a big fan of because of his skill), and Mudiay.  More excited by the potential of a 7′ killer than another PG to run your system.

I love seeing the Philly fans panic after selling their never played together core as a potential dynasty in a few years.  The 76ers will have a 30 for 30 in a few years titled "when being the best losers goes bad".

Keep drinking that Hinkie Juice 6er fans.  You’re strategy is proving fruitful.

than being an 8 seed, losing in the first round every year, and having Billy King as your GM, who clears enough cap space to sign either Josh Smith or Elton Brand as your missing piece.

I love the potential.  I think this draft (Porzingis, Okafor, or Russell), with an injured Embiid, is going to define the Hinkie era.  If he fails, at least we tried.  We are still stockpiling some talent and good pieces.

Future looks promising.  Down for the future.

If I was a player, I’d much rather play in Philly than LA or NY right now, with their ownership.

Embiid’s setback doesn’t really effect their draft choice I think. It all depends on who is on board at 3, if Russell is still there I think Hinkie takes him.

Next season is still 20 odd weeks away, so Embiid has time to heal. Just hope we haven’t got a Greg Oden type scenario here.

That wasn’t Billy King who signed Brand. It was Stephanski.  Even worse. The guy never traded anyone…ever. three years never made a trade. Giant puss. Fired. Then Doug Collins had say and he is the last guy who should be assemblimg a team. Lets sit Vucivic in favor of Lavoy Allen. Then trade Nikki and sign Allen to a two year deal. All of these guys had zero vision and were way worse options than Hinkie. Hinkie will do anything to aqcuire talent. I respect him for that and embrace the process.

The same Philly front office that gave up Iggy, Vucevic etc in the Howard/Bynum and Iggy trade.

Hinkie hasn’t amassed as many first rounders as the Cavs did and Boston have done in the last few years. He has had to get back future picks owed to Miami and Orlando also.

If the 76ers do stay well below cap next season, I can then see Hinkie really looking to take on salary dumps to get extra picks. The roster will have Embiid, Noel plus this year’s pick, with Saric to come over in the next year or two, Hinkie will then be looking for more precise fits in the team and will be looking to draft players who play certain positions.

The more picks he can amass, the more flexability it will give him in future drafts.

He has 5 second rounders this year and could certainly flip 35 and 37 into another first rounder this year or for next year.
