negguaryParticipantAccording to Heinke Embid will be out 5-8 months despite of the orginal report that went out stating 4-6 months. As a die hard sixers fan I feel good that Heinke is coming right out and saying we are thinking about him long term. I actually think this is the type of situation he needed to be in where he isn’t forced to rush back. Whereas now he can “attempt” to get fully healthy overall and develop as a player. That development would e huge for him especially being that he just started playing a couple of years ago. As for now we wont know whether we made the right decision but I think this is a great start!

EndlessknightParticipantI guess he’ll sit the whole year. Even if he comes back healthy and lives up to his full potential I just don’t see how him Noel and Saric can fit together.

IhateusernamesParticipantI think sari is a trade piece down the line, like Mirotic was/is.

negguaryParticipantThey only keep 2 of the three bigs. Whichever two fit best together stays and the other gets traded LOL

EndlessknightParticipantFor me it’s all going to be about watching how MCW and Noel progress more so then the wins/losses

JoeWolf1This most likely means he’ll sit out the full season. I like the pick for Philly. Rebuilding is not an easy process, but I think a healthy Nerlens Noel will help ease the sting of picking a guy who has to sit out his first season.

tuck243ParticipantHow much faith do you have in Hinkie until you guys are ready to get rid of him? Like what year are you guys giving him until yall ready to pull the plug?
I always say you can’t skip steps… The Basketball Gods will always make a way for success not to happen when you do (its a working theory of mine)… So, basically tanking on purpose without one game played is practically horse sh*t… Especially coming off a season full of tanking… Then selecting players that won’t play for a year or 2 is really um…. BOLD… I don’t see why 6ers fans are so willing to stand behind Hinkie like this… I just don’t get it… Me personally, I think you should only tank after mid season or after your best player(s) go down to injuries… Like the Bulls last year should’ve tanked IMO… But you simply don’t trade all-star players and your top scorers to make that happen… We know people in Philly are impatient folks, so when are you guys going to be done with this experiment of the 76ers if you guys don’t get better anytime soon?

burgessfourParticipantsaying tuck243. As a Sixers fan we have seen it all, most previous GM’s had no real plan except instant gratification. You may have noticed we’ve had some pretty bad front offices over the years. Hinkie is taking a little heat with the local media and there’s no doubt when they trot out that sorry looking team next year it will only get hotter. At least Hinkie has a plan, like it or not. To answer your question, I think they’ll need to start showing some real improvement during the 2015/2016 season. I expect next year they’ll be in the 16-22 win area again. I think 2015/2016 needs to be a 30+ win season or the vultures will start circling Hinkie. Just my opinion.

tuck243ParticipantI was just a little curious because this isn’t something I think Philly fans will be too patient with… It’s definitely a little unorthoodox with the way he went about it (a way I totally don’t like)… But I get it… Thanks!!

i’m jus so offendedParticipantThe biggest problem is the era we live in. EVERYTHING has to be right now. People have no patience and the media doesn’t help anything. I hope they just let this ride out. What was their ceiling before Hinkie came? Continual 1st round beat downs? Let someone at least try. Have we all forgot he hit a home run last year by taking the 1st or 2nd best player in last years draft at 12. And everyone is quick to forget Noel would have been sure fire #1 if he wasn’t injured. Grabbing Wroten for a 2nd rounder was a really good get. Let’s just all relax, hopefully Hinkie gets around 4-5 years regardless of results. MCW, Noel and Embiid could make for a top 3 defensive team someday.

GrandmamaParticipantTank mode again for the Sixers this year. But I wouldn’t be upset if I am a Sixers fan. Embiid’s upside was just too much to pass on, and regardless of who they picked this year, they weren’t going to compete. If he comes back healthy in 2015, they’ll have a future stud. Him and Noel down low will be a nightmare for teams to score on. Plus they have MCW. That’s a nice little nucleus to build around.
