Out of those options, I’d say Embiid (assuming healthy) and Porzingis. Those two are two of the brightest young stars in the game, and the fact that they’re big men may help them get the votes needed, as there are a lot of guards/forwards on that list.

This was very difficult. For getting voted in, this is who I have:

Guards: Wall and Irving (Lowry if Irving is traded to the West)

    Forwards: James, Giannis, and Hayward

*Wade and Anthony are dark horses to get voted in due to their star status. I don’t think either of them will deserve an all star appearance next year.

For the other all star choices I have:

Guards: Thomas and Lowry (Walker if Iriving is in the West)

Forwards: Whiteside, Embiid (health dependent), and Love (don’t think Turner or Porzingis will be on winning teams, thus Love the veteran gets the choice)

The Other Two: DeRozan and Walker (Beal if Irving is in West)

    Just missed: Dragic, Batum, Horford

Good call on Batum.  Horford, Drummond and Vuciec should all be solid and just miss the cut

I want to say Porzingus – he def deserves it but the Knicks could be a mess & that might hurt him if there are only 2 spots

Washington is going to have a great season & Beal being Wall’s right hand man is going to have a big year

Embiid was a Monster last year at Both ends basically by himself. Putting the amount of talent around Embiid that Phila now features (once they gel) & Embiid is going to be down right Nightmarish for teams to deal with. As Incredible as he was at the Offensive end his Defensive skills are Jaw Dropping – he moves in open space to alter shot trajectory & the opposing player has this look on his face like he can not believe a man that size is covering that amount of ground that fast & I have the same puzzled look on my face at home watching it on TV

I don’t think Carmelo makes it.

I am gonna go with Porzingas, Brad Beal, and Embiid.

Beal might be a semi-lock for next year’s All Star Game.

Embiid has to play enough games obviously.  He might even get VOTED IN as a starter.

Porzingas might not be a super lock, but I think he is in the discussion — could get voted in as starter, too.

I think he will be THE GUY for the Knicks next season.

I only have 5 locks for the East next year: LeBron, Greek Freak, Kyrie Irving (if he is still playing in the Eastern Conference), John Wall, and Isaiah Thomas.

Obviously, Kyle Lowry is one of the best players in the East, but he is not young and has had some injuries.  What if he falls off, or at least falls back into the rest of the pack?  Do they REALLY have more than THREE locks at point guard (Kyrie, Wall, and IT).

I would think that Gordon Hayward would be a lock, too, but Boston might have only ONE lock All Star.  Then Horford might be their second pick.

Hayward might be more of a SEMI LOCK (along with EITHER Lowry/DeRozan and probably Kevin Love).

Goran Dragic makes the allstar team this year despite all the great options.

    EAST
Starters:    Wall, Kyrie, Gianis, LeBron, Embiid
Bench:       IT, Lowry, DeRozen, Beal, Hayward, Love, Whiteside

Analysis:   If it were up to fan voting alone, this would look much different, but players and media will (hopefully) balance rewarding player success with team success. Whiteside gets in because the heat will round out the top 4/5 spot. Wizards, Raptors, Celtics all getting two players in. Embiid was 3rd in fan votes last year and will have an even better year production wise so his chances are hightened.

Snubs/misses:   Porzingis, Kemba, Oladipo, Myles Turner, Melo, D-Wade, Drummond, Jabari, Schroder

    WEST

Starters:     Curry, Westbrook, Durant, Kawhi, Davis
Bench:       Harden, CP3, Klay, Jimmy B, PG, Blake, Gobert

Analysis:    Westbrook will start this year thanks to the players and media. He should be #1 in their votes and probably third on guard fan votes. The Jazz will surprise teams and Gobert will get a nod over Draymond. But the West is so stacked its unbelievable. Cousins will miss out. Draymond will miss out. Lilliard will continue to get snubbed, as will CJ and Conley. One of DJ/Blake was going to make it and I truely believe Blake will have a great productive year. KAT and Wiggins won’t get in because its stacked. Milsap and Jokic won’t get in because its stacked. Booker will have to wait a while to get his shine. This might be the all-time best group of players in the west.

Snubs/misses:   Cousins, Draymond, Lilliard, CJ, Conley, Gasol, Milsap, Jokic, KAT, Wiggins, DJ, Devin Booker

I’m on the same page as you with these. My only difference for the east would be Kemba making the all star team. I think Charlotte will be like a 6 seed next year and deserving of 1 all star. He would replace IT (see if he can keep up his stellar play), Lowry/DeRozan (Toronto may not be deserving of 2 all stars) or Beal (Washington may not be deserving of 2 all stars).

The West is a crap shoot. Can’t disagree with any of your picks. I would like to get Lillard in there and it would have to be over Klay or Butler by the looks of it. Klay could be out if GS isn’t on another record pace and they won’t be able to get 3-4 all stars this year (Curry and KD are locks). Butler might be on the outside if Minny isn’t in playoff contention then and Portland is.

Valid points. IT’s production will go down this year so he may be swapped for Kemba.
