Here are my early playoff projections

    West

    1) LA Lakers

why? Odom is playing better than ever, Gasol is averaging 22 and 12, Kobe looks ferocious, bench is playing solid, this team is very scary

    2) San Antonio

why? Parker has raised his level and the big guys are all contributing…Expect coach Pop to lead this veteran team deep into the playoffs

    3) New Orleans

why? This could easily be a flash in the pan but the Hornets are getting great production from their 2, 3, and 5 guys. Also, adding Jarrett Jack will help provide O off the bench

    4) Utah

why? Their stock can only go up when Mehmet Okur returns to provide the Jazz with 3 very talented big men

    5) Oklahoma City

why? The emergence of Ibaka has the Thunder sitting pretty. It is only a matter of time until Jeff Green becomes their full time 6th man and Harden takes over at the 2

    6) Dallas

why? They don’t look that good offensively and their stock is heading south…Butler looks just average and they aren’t getting a ton of production from anyone other than Dirk and occasionally J. Terry

    7) Denver

why? When K-Mart and Birdman return this team will be better but Billups and Smith are playing poorly and Nene isn’t rebounding

    8) Portland

why? Nate McMillan is too good of a coach and despite Oden being lost for the season and Roy being hurt, I can guarantee he will find a way to get this squad into the playoffs

    EAST

    1) Boston- Excellent production from all across the board and their defense is only going to get better when Perk returns and they have 6 solid bigs (davis, KG, perk, shaq, jermaine oneal, erden)

    2) Orlando- Dwight Howard is playing at MVP caliber and Vince and Nelson are doing good things. Also, they have the best bench in the NBA.

    3) Chicago- When Boozer returns, look out. They have a great PG, C, SF, and coach. And soon-to-be one of the top bigs off the bench in the game with Gibson

    4) Miami- They have 3 great players, 2 or 3 reliable players, 2 good players HURT, and the rest are awful…odd concotion of athletes, probably the reason this team is underperforming

    5) Atlanta- Amazing start to the season but lately they have been bland, Joe Johnson is playing terribly and its a shame because this year looks like the year Horford breaks out

    6) New York- I think this is the spot where a team in the East gets in but has a losing record…my prediction is 39-43 for the Knicks but that could be good enough for them to make it at this spot

    7) Indiana- I feel weird seeing such a mediocre team making the playoffs. Hibbert has stepped his game up but they don’t have much help from their power forwards…proj. record 38-44

    8) Milwaukee- They haven’t looked good at any side of the spectrum this year..They are DEAD LAST in points per game and have lost 3 straight…Where is Michael Redd when we need him?! proj record: 37-45

If I’m Miami, I want Orlando to get the 1 seed in that scenario. Orlando has D-Howard but cannot stop the wings of Wade and James. Also, Miami probably has the best perimeter defense in the L.

denver status will depende on how the melo situation will resolve. memphis could grab their spot or even the suns.
the pacers are a better team than last year but i think they will fight hard for the last spot with a bunch of teams.

I don’t see Boston getting the 1st seed just because there core of players are older and rest.

They also don’t take the whole regular season seriously. They only seem to bring it certian nights, and I think they will struggle on the 2nd of back to back games.

I see them getting the 2nd seed or lower most likely.

Boston 9-4, "Excellent production from all across the board"

Miami 8-5, "They have 3 great players, 2 or 3 reliable players, 2 good players HURT, and the rest are awful…odd concotion of athletes, probably the reason this team is underperforming"

funny you put Boston as the number one seed in the East as they are on a two game losing streak

The celtics are right now owning the hawks by 20 at half…. was 39 13 and end of the first. Shaq looked like he found an age reversing potion Harry Potter would be jealous of… Too bad he cant play like this day ina nd day out!

Chicago is the wildcard in the east, a healthy boozer makes them scary good, him being hurt has allowed gibson and asik play bigger than expected rolls.

i think the magic grab the one just because of the depth and youth (excluding carter) ,also the pacers get the 6 and knicks get the 7 pacers are bette than people think, also i say utah grabs the 2 and the mavs will find a way to grab that 3 spots due to a trade involving butler. san antonio will end up 5 or 6 due to age but the rest seems good
