Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantPretty much everyone here saw the Witchita-Kentucky game yesterday and were impressed by Early’s overall play (that dunk on WCS was pretty good). Now, it is safe to say that Cleanthony Early will be a very solid NBA player, as his game can convert to the NBA well. With that said, I am considering him this years’ Chandler Parsons. Parsons and Early are the same in that they both have played 4 years of college ball and are/were older than most of their fellow draft peers. Both are 6’8-6’9, 215+ pounds, have very nice forms on their shots, and are very well-rounded. With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to go in the 2nd round like Parsons did. I am not saying he isn’t worth a 1st round pick, but he doesn’t have the upside that other prospects have. The reason why Parsons slipped was partially because of his lack of upside at 22+. Parsons didn’t have the luxury of having a very good team around his, so his lack of notoriety contributed to his draft slip as well. Early was on an undefeated team and got some attention as a prospect. All-in-all, whoever gets Early will have a very nice player at their disposal, just like the Rockets did when they got Chandler.

Memphis MadnessParticipantEarly did everything he had to do. I wish that last play had been drawn up for him, or at least for Ron Baker.
Early does what a small forward should. That’s what we thought we were getting with Andrew Wiggins.
The 10-25 draft range is wide open and a team that looks at Rodney Hood, McDermott, and James Young should also look at Cleanthony Early.

DolanCareParticipantThats an interesting comparison. I agree with the similarities between the two, and their draft stock scenarios. I would be fairly surprised if Early slipped to the second round. It could be a greater possibility if he comes back with crappy measurements at the combine.
All in all, I think Early is a better athelete and rebounder than Parsons. (Parsons is probably the better shooter and playmaker). But if Early is snagged by a contender, he could very well play that floor-stretcher role like Chandler.
Personally, when I watch Early play he reminds me of a mix between the Morris twins. Not as powerful and strong like Markieff, but has the shot-creating/rangy skills of Marcus.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantI agree with that. Early is more of a combo-forward while Parsons is a type or tall 2, in my opinion. I get what you mean when you compare Cleanthony to the Morris brothers, but they both were drafted in the lottery, which is unlikely for Early. If Early is picked up by a team like the Spurs, he could be a very dangerous role player. I am excited to see who he goes to because he can fit in anywhere but the Knicks, who don’t have a pick.

King CaluchaParticipantI see some Jeff Green in his game (not talking about ceiling… I always make this clarification).

TRC1991ParticipantThe fact that he played THAT well in a big game shows he’s got some toughness to his character
