Dwight Howard needs to improve his pick and pop game

Howard needs to improve his pick and pop game that way when he steps outs to make mid-range jumpers he won't get fouled as much when he shoots. It's much less likely to get fouled on a jumpshot than a deep post up. Also, he can open up the lane for Jeremy Lin, James Harden, and Patrick Beverly to pentrate and dish to Asik.

This is just stupid. He doesn't try to purposely miss shots. If he continued to chuck up mid range jump shots his teammates and coaches would lose it. Shaq could have done with a pick and pop game too but their strengths lie elsewhere. Better fixing something you can control like James Harden's defensive effort.

How can you improve on something that you don't even have?

I disagree. I hate that the NBA has so few people willing to challenge bigs when they go to the rim. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a giant man get blocked when he thinks he is flushing a monster dunk..

If you give me a choice, mentalities and personalities removed, of a big man with a skill set of Dwight or Dirk in today's NBA, I'm taking Dwight. That body, bounce, strenght, and quickness is unheard of. When he gets the mid set to go at the rim, he is all but unstoppable.

Telling Dwight to shoot outside more because it will help like telling a fish to fly because there are more bugs in the air.. Basically, its stupid..

Could he improve? Yes but who couldnt? Should he spend tons of time doing that? I say no.. Why hey try to change the best center in the NBA?

Dirk has a championship ring

Dirk has a championship ring and a Finals MVP. Dwight has none.

I'll never forget the time

I'll never forget the time that Nate Robinson blocked the dunk attempt by Yao Ming.

I have pretty much accepted

I have pretty much accepted this is Dwight. He is a good rim protecter and defender because of his god given gifts. I'm not expecting anything more. The TNT guys keep harping on he can be better and should be better, but really it isn't in his make up.

I forgot to mention.

He is also great at rebounding, put backs and anything around the rim, ect. However, the guy has his highs and lows. Things gets to him easily instead of feeding off of it, it effects him and his game in the wrong way. I'm starting to think that is the same with his teammate James Harden. Fun going goes, but can't feed off what comes with the title of super stars. So will just end up being stars in tbe league.

You're never going to win a

You're never going to win a title with Dwight Howard leading the team. Same with Griffin, Anthony, et. al. Some people just aren't winners and Howard is not a winner. He can pad his stats with useless defensive boards all he wants to look good, but he just doesn't have it, IMO.

I agree; he'd be a potential MVP

I could not agree more with OP-- I've been saying this for years. Dwight clearly relies too much on his physical gifts and needs to expand other areas of his game. Imagine how good he could be if he mastered the one-foot Dirk fadeaway. Unstoppable!
