Otis Smith said he’ll risk resigning Howard next summer before trading him. What do you think of this?Do you think D12 leaves Orlando like the original superman Shaq or Does he take the Kevin Durant Route and resigns with Magic?

Smith sounded pretty confident that Howard and his family feel that he will stay in Orlando. Then again you know the old saying, "Money talks…"

I think D12 has some class, I think he will resign with the magic but like you said you never know Money Talks.

But there was whispers of what if he left, then the whispers got louder and louder as the season before free agency happened .

We wont know what happens until it does when it comes to most super stars. I think he leaves if the Magic go the way of the Cavs, lose in the finals (they already did), not make it back but always be right there with a great record but wont put enough pieces or the wrong washed up ones (Jamison/Arenas) to win it all with their star.

Boston has lots of cap space in 2012, LA will as well, teams like GSW, NY, LAC and NJ will be trying to get cap space for him as well. NY wants a big 3 , GSW owners have stated they are trying to get money for that year, LAC wants another star with Blake, Dwill will try and recruit him, Boston’s big 3 will recruit him, Kobe will recruit him. Everyone will want him.

Lets not forget he could team up with CP3 somewhere as well that year

Just curious, but what does class have to do with him staying or going. Class would be not demanding a trade or doing what Lebron did with his Decision. He should do what is best for him. As far as money goes, if things stay the same, Orlando is going to have the most money and/or years to throw at Howard. You really can’t blame him if he left though. Right now he’s playing all the defense on the team and he’s not surrounded by any other great players.

I really want him to leave Orlando.  They have never been able to build a successful franchise.  Even with Shaq, T-Mac, and now Dwight.  They have failed several times with superstar players.  Nothing is going to change.  I mean, what’s been their biggest move since Dwight arrived?  Brining in Carter and Lewis?

To be fair, the Shaq team was close, and if it weren’t for injury problems/had Shaq stuck around they could have brought it home sooner or later.

Honestly, I don’t think SVG’s system is going to work for a championship team, it relies too much on how well the team is shooting from outside, which as we know, is an unreliable factor.

1.I think D12 has some class, 2.I think he will resign with the magic but like you said you never know Money Talks.

Those are two different comments.1.me stating he has class like he handle his business in a professonial manner(he can go wherever he wants, its his free will since he’s a free agent)

     2. Is my opinion of what I think he will do(even though as im thinking about,I probably should change it haha)

Also,I wouldn’t be mad at him if he left,I agree with you magic f@(Ked the team up with the arenas trade(trading a bad contract for a even worse contract imo) and richardson trade( getting rid of gortat and not even filling the role). Thier not going to the finals this year let alone winning it. Next year Otis smith is probably going to make another couple of trades(which will be even worse) and screw it up even more.

TOL23 yeah and we are witnessing thier failure to build a franchise and them digging a deeper hole.

^^^I don’t think its SVG’s system. He’s trying to provide more room for Dwight down low so he gets 3point shooters trying to get opponents worry more about their 3 pointers and less on Dwight.

If the Magic make a trade for Toronto’s Bargnani, I think they could do really well possibly compete for a championship thus keeping Dwight there. If not though, I think he will leave and team up with either join forces with Dwill in New Jersy or go to GS as they try to build a system very similar to Boston’s.

I agree about Bargnani, made a thread about it a little while ago proposing the idea haha. It all starts with a better PG in my opinion, Dwight deserves a pass-first PG who will make his life easier. Imagine what he could do with Rondo or CP3 and Bargnani.

Bargnani would make a good stretch foward for them while howard is downlow bargs can spot and shot 3s mid range shots. Bargs would also improve his defense im sure since SVG likes to get people’s faces so he would learn pretty fast.Ward B12 GS, thats the first i’ve heard someone mention them as a potential possibility, but as a nets fan I would love him coming to the nets.

In my opinion, SVG’s system doesn’t work.  Live and die by the three?  I don’t like those odds.

They need a go to wing player and another post defender that can hit the midrange shot consistently.

They don’t need Bargnani because that would just soften up the paint.  They need another defender that can hit the midrange shot.

The problem with the Magic and the reason as to why Dwight will leave is because of the contracts that were given or they acquired through trade.

    • Hedo Turkoglu: 4 years* for about 44mil.
    • Gilbert Arenas:  4 years* for about 80mil.
    • Quentin Richardson: 4 years* for about 8mil
    • Chris Duhon: 4 years* for about 14mil

    * = including 2010-2011 season

That’s about 38mil a year that is gone on wasted talent and old players.  With Dwight’s new contract, that will be another 18-20mil a year.  They can’t do anything for the next 3-4 years in terms of free agent signing or big trades.  Meaning if Dwight resigns, they’ll go through 4 mediocre seasons and by the time he’s 29, they’ll start rebuilding all over again.

What if he goes to the Clippers. They have the Wolves pick next year. Could possibly land Marquis Teague in 2012!!

Lineup: Teague, Gordon, Aminu, Griffen, Dwight. And they already the perfect backup to Dwight in Jordan, a good back PG in Bledsoe, four veteran players in Foye, Moon, Gomes, and Mo Williams. That’s a dang good team and would be much better for him than Orlando unless Orlando makes a trade for Bargnani.

Well the Clippers would probably have to trade Mo williams and Jordan to get Dwight. But still a good team: Teague, Gordon, Aminu, Griffen, Dwight. With Bledsoe, Foye, Moon, and Gomes as backups. They could always draft a C in the 2nd round this year to play the backup Center to Dwight…if he comes.

I think Orlando should just do trades.I also see they have a lot of bad contracts.Gil got his from Washington. But Chris Duhon for that I have to disagree.Q-Rich can contribute but he hasn’t.They need another star player on there with Dwight. But the Bargnani trade would do wonder for Orlando because their main need is a PF

It all depends if Howard feels the Magic are going in the right direction which means they ned to start winning in the playoffs
