Dwight

Not to pile on or anything but, wow, this guy looks bad in the post. I don't agree with the people that say he is bad offensively because they don't realize how much offensive rebounds he gets, how good of a finisher he can be off dump offs, his ability to finish on P&R, and just the attention he draws. But, one on one, he just doesn't know how to create his shot. He isn't creative and we all know that, but he doesn't even score in the simple yet effective ways. He never makes his move quick, he doesn't react to the defender, he doesn't know how to use his body to get his shot off, and he doesn't know how to use his athleticism to get his shot off. All I see is pound it, pound it and end up picking up his dribble, pausing or making a unnatural movement then shooting a low percentage shot. Bargs is locking him up this game! LeBron has just transitioned into a post player these last two years, and he is lightyears better in the post than Howard ever has been because Howard doesn't play instincutal, decisive and reactionary ball. What do you guys think? I personally think he can fix this and he definitely has the physical ability. He just needs someone to point out the problems so he can correct it.

Offensive rebounding has

Offensive rebounding has absolutely nothing to do with offensive ability.... When people refer to his lack of an offensive game they are referring to his subpar post game..

Read. Does offensive

Read. Does offensive rebounding not make him more valuable offensively. I just went on a tangent on what he doesn't do in the post.

'yes

I know Bargs shutting down Dwight is shocking but why is everyone on twitter, and in this post, saying Dwight Howard is bad in the low post. This has been the case for an extremely long period of time.

Other Breaking News:

Harden- bad at defense.

Melo- he shoots a lot.

JR Smith- also shoots a lot.

Doug Gottlieb - likes to talk.

No, I don't think he will fix this. He is too selfish and egotistical. If he doesn't listen to Dream or McHale, he will listen to no one.

Enough with that awful game. OKC and GS please!

Also tonight, in NCAA - Arizona looks really good. Wish they had a little better guard play but Aaron Gordon looks really really good. I thought he was an out of control version of Blake Griffin but he has worked on his game and has made some strides, quickly. This draft is insane. Top 5 teams will have some really tough decisions.

He looked terrible in the post tonight BUT

He looked terrible in the post tonight BUT whta about the games when he will score big, make quick moves, and use his athleticism to finish over defenders? Will you make a post saying how good he looks in the post? Thats what I dont understand. In games where Dwight actually does look good in the post and makes nice post moves, the only thing entioned is he is missing his free throws. In the games where he looks bad in the post but somehow shoots good at the line, people are criticizing his post game. It's like whatever he does, people are gonna find the negative.

As mentioned, this isn't

As mentioned, this isn't something new. It just isn't part of his game, never was, and probably never will be. Everyone just had super high expectations for him based on a few good years in Orlando, training with Hakeem, and being the "best center in the NBA", which was a title pretty much given to him because the center position was/is weak.

Throw him back in the 90's and he'd be a middle of the pack center. Someone on here compared him to Alonzo Mourning which I think is pretty accurate.

He's still a great player when healthy - best defensive big man in the game, rebounds well, blocks shots, etc. I really wish that'd be his only role.

Dwight

He did look terrible tonight but that is almost a norm if you are looking at his post game. He is robotic in the post, he reverse pivots often or attempts to shoot a running hook. You rarely see counter moves with Dwight or even simple up and unders. When he does score it is not off post moves, Ft's offensive rebounds, pick n roll, dump down etc. He is not a guy you are going to throw the ball to 20 times to get a bucket from a post move stand point. He can over athlete and physically dominate other centers but that's about it. He has been in the league 10 years and he still hasn't gotten lets say 1 move that he can go to always. He won't now. I think people over estimate dreams ability to teach him, some of those things are natural to DREAM from the foot work and balance standpoint. Dwight is super robatic in his movements. If dwight has a hard time doing a simple fake one way come back to other way jump hook, what makes you think he has the foot work to complete dream shakes or other agility related moves. As Bennydabull mentioned should Howard be a center in the 90's I think he would compare to ZO and Zo woulda destroyed him, ZO at least had a decent jumper. Dont get me wrong I am taking him on my team as he is the best rim protector in the game but he cannot be my focus point on offense if I am serious about winning a chip. His in most books is listed as the best center in the world and its not close, he does not dominate like you would expect. There is no reason at all that he went through the 1st half with what 1 shot. That speaks volumes about what his team mate and coached think about his ability to produce point in the post.

Sorry for the Rant but I really think from a post stand point Howard is terrible and will always be.
