I just want to see everyone’s opinion on him. He’s 24th on tha mock right now & that’s entirely too low to me. I think he’s a lottery pick at worst…He’s 6’6 with a nice body & a handle. He can score from every level & he can get anywhere he wants on tha court. This site compared him to Jamal Crawford, but I think he’s going to be better because he has an NBA frame & can finish through contact. From what I’ve seen, he’s shown good effort on D & on tha boards…if he can keep this up, he should be able to sneak into tha top 5 or 10. I’m not worried about his age. If he was a project player, I’d be concerned..but he’s NBA ready. I think he’d be an upgrade over a lot of wings right now.. Tell me what you guys think

Yeah I think he wil be top 5, he is a 2 way SG and he can score with the best of them. You know you can score when you play with scorers like Rathan Mayes and Malik Beasley, but he lead them in scoring. Bacon I think should be the top SG in the draft.. I compare him to Jordan just as far as body and scoring ability, but come on, who really is Michael Jordan… Deshawn Stevenson… cough cough… haha. But I think if Sixers get picks 1 and 4 they should take Simmons 1 and Bacon 4. That would be a really good one two punch with the bigs of Noel, Embiid, Saric and Jah

Tha game just comes so easy for him. It doesn’t even look like he’s breaking a sweat. His game is so smooth…He’s a stud. He’s just so big & long…his body reminds me of Tyreke Evans.

Not high on him at all. I don’t hate him but overall I dont like players that reclass. Not really a fan of players that build hype off of dominating younger players. and Even if he were one and done he would still be 21 before his rookie season starts. And even though hes leading his team in scoring and among the top players nationally, hes benifitting alot from playing alongside Beasley and Rathan Mayes who are also good scorers.

He may have ‘built hype off dominating younger players’, but so far, he’s dominating college guys too. And they’re benefitting from him too. It’s basketball, that’s why it’s 5 on 5…you’re suppose to benefit from your teammates if you’re a good team. But time will tell.

I did a top 14 before the year started and I was deciding between Allonzo Trier and Dwayne Bacon for a spot at 14. I went with Trier because the pick was more original, but obviously i made the wrong choice and Bacon is a lottery pick.

Albeit him being older than a regular freshman, his potential is still high. I really like his shooting mechanics

I still think he needs some seasoning as far as playing within a team concept but you can’t deny the talent is there. At worst I see him as a jr smith at the next level. Definitely has top 10 talent and could easily be drafted that high depending on how he does this year.

Exactly, and Bacon is old enough to be a college JUNIOR. Beating up on low level D1 teams is one thing. Let’s see how he does against good (not even great) teams. I bet he struggles, and have felt that he’s one of the more overrated prospects in this class for a long time.

I watched Bacon a bit last year, and this year.  He could score the ball against younger guys in high school easily.  He is having a good year so far at FSU, and is fun to watch.  I like his energy, and his attitude.  He looks like NBA material, but I think he needs a really great year to make it into the lottery.  I don’t see him over guys like Jamal Murray, Malik Newman, Isaiah Briscoe, or even Buddy Hield.  The draft is about upside and potential, and at his age he will be perceived as having less upside than guys a couple of years younger than he is.

The problem that Bacon will face is that he almost has to enter the draft this year because if he stays more than a year in college, he is gonna be way old.  He’s a 20 year-old freshman so if he stays 2 years he will be nearly 22 by draft time.  There are guys in the NBA who have 3 years experience by that age.  Look at Devin Booker on Kentucky’s team last year.  He was 17 when he started the season, and he just turned 18.

I like Bacon as a scoring guard.  But I think he is going to be perceived as someone with limited upside at a position that is very crowded in the NBA.  I think he is likely a late first round pick at best, unless FSU dominates and makes a deep tournament run.  If he can carry his team and make a run in the tournament, then I could see him sneaking into the lottery.  Otherwise he is a late first round pick to second rounder.

I’m sorry but I don’t see how Buddy Heield is better than Bacon even when you factor their ages.

He’s my #1 SG at the moment, since I consider Brown a 3 and Murray a 1. And at 6’6" to 6’7" and weighing in at 220-225, he reminds me a bit of Corey Maggette.

Maggette was probably a tad more explosive vertically, and was freakishly strong (and incredibly good at getting to the line), but Bacon has more shake to his game and a better handle. Probably projects to be a better perimeter shooter as well. But like Maggette, he’s a natural scorer with athleticism, who uses his body well and can score at all 3 levels.
