Durant and Westbrook
Is everybody here expecting for these players to be REALLY REALLY good this season? I mean they came off a 6 game series that was seconds away from being 7 games vs the back to back NBA champions.
Not only that, they are playing for Team USA and gaining experience and great coachng from one of the greatest coaches.
I'm expecting 28ppg and 8rpg and 3apg from Durant, and he's going to bring many more intangibles than before.
I expect Westbrook to be a 19-9-6 guy with 2 spg.
Jeff Green may be a 16-7 guy next year.
Harden is going to be a 13-14ppg game next season and hopefully eventually become that 18ppg guy that he has potential to be.
Durant could easily get those numbers but westbrook is no jason kidd and thats what those stats indicate. He's a great young player, athletic as can be and one of the best defenders at his position but i dont think he'll get those numbers. Just my opinion
i see 29ppg, 9rpg, and 2.5apg with 1.5 blocks and steals for durant this year. westbrook i see as a 17ppg, 5rpg, 7apg with 2.3 steals. so yes i expect them both to be very good and i expect the thunder to win alot of games but i still dont think they are a contender. they are yound and exciting and have loads of talent but they just dont have the tall low post scorer they need. in the playoffs an undersized 4 may work for a little but when you advance you will run into that bigger front line(bynum and gasol or perkins and garnett) and its not going to be easy. they are 1 player away from becoming a contender. who that player is, i dont know but i think they can get a good big man but they will have to let jeff green go and of all the young talent, i think he is the one guy they can do without. someone on here said jeff green for jason thompson, i dont know if thompson is the answer but that intrigued me as he can score and he has the size(6 foot 11).
Westbrook averaged 16ppg, 8apg, and 5rpg last year so getting the 19, 9, and 6 is not gonna be very hard for him at all.
i dont really see how that is indicating he is jason kidd if he pretty much averaged that last season lol.
and durant can get those numbers, maybe even more than 30ppg this year.
lol yeah sacphil is obviously ignorant lol
I'm not just talking about stats, but their experience in the playoffs and Team USA will be of great help.
Westbrook could average those number but OKC wont need him to score 19 points but i do see him average 17- 9- 6, he shouldn't get more then 6 rebounds a game if he does it means that OKC's big men arent doing their job well..
Mark my words however Durant will average over 30 points a game.
Green I'm not so sure of in fact I think he is kinda the odd man out despite his relationship with KD. What OKC should get out of Green tho is 16 8 and 4 assists remember with Russ, KD, and Harden, Everybody but KD's scoring average is going to Dip because basically Kevin is the man.
I expect Westbrook to be a 19-9-6 guy with 2 spg.
Actually tongueoutlike23 im not ignorant, just realistic and dont live in fantasy worlds or play NBA 2K video games where guys make jumps in stats like that from season to season. Those numbers you said are jason kidd numbers and he's not that good. Playing for team USA isnt going to turn anyone into a bonafide superstar especially if they dont have that potential to begin with. He has great athleticism and is a great on ball defender but with durant and possibly harden moving into the starting lineup where they will look to get him shots, his field goal attempts will only go down and he's not a good shooter so his stats may decrease as far a points are concerned. Last year the starting 2 was thabo sefalosha so he didnt have to give the ball up to him therefore giving him more scoring opportunities. with harden starting (which he will at some point in the season) he'll get less opportunities.
he averages 16-8-5.. how could he not average 19-9-6? it's 3 more pts, 1 more asts, and 1 more rebound.
Of course they'll be much improved. You can't ignore the experience/confidence they gained taking the Lakers to six games and playing with Team USA this summer. Add that to the fact they're always working hard to improve their games. I mean, they live in the gym.
I think Durant is going to have an amazing season. He's my early pick for MVP.
I'd like to see Westbrook make better decisions in the half-court, turn the ball over less, improve his jumpshot and become a more efficient scorer. Like they said vs Russia today, he plays at one speed. I'm not sold on him being Durant's second option right now.
I'm not sold on Jeff Green at the four or the rest of OKC's front court either.
Those are Jason Kidd type numbers.
I don't see that happening at all. The rebound could do down if Ibaka and Aldrich get solid PT. The assists numbers could be the same. Also, think about it: Russell Westbrook is gonna lead the Thunder in rebounds? I don't see it.
I could see like 16 ppg, 5rpg and 7apg next season.
Lol. Yea I don't see how y'all can't see Westbrook averaging 1 more ast 3 more points and 1 more rebounds he will be a year better and he is the point guard so reguardless if harden gets better it's still up to Westbrook to give him the ball. So by some of talks logic Derrick rose points and rebounds should be making a big drop with the addition of boozer right?
Oh I'm tripping. The mid number is the AST number.
Do people see how much of a drop rose and Westbrook are from cp3 and dwill during the worlds?
You actually see Westbrook's numbers declining?
Please forgive two two-year players for not being quite as good as two veteran point guards who happen to be the best in the league.
No need to excuse. It's common sense but you obviously havnt been up here much or you would know there are some who think rose is on dwill and cp3s level. It's ok you're excused because you didn't know
