According to reports, Goran Dragic will test out free agency next summer.

After coming to life last season for the Suns, Dragic will surely command huge interest from around the league if he opts out of his contract in the summer. However, this doesn’t mean that he will leave the Suns even though it has been a huge adjustment for him to play alongside fellow point guards Isaiah Thomas and Eric Bledsoe

    ———————

I personally think it would be a mistake for the suns to let him go, he is 28yo.

Pacers & Heat come to mind who would be interested, any other teams ?

I am probably in the minority on this, but I feel like most players are better off staying right where they are if they have experienced success. It is a risk to go to a new environment and a new role.

can’t really fault dragic for that move.  gotta get paid while your stock is hot.  it’ll be interesting to see what he thinks his value is at.  going to be tough for phoenix to put the money out there with thomas, bledsoe, ennis and goodwin all on the roster.  to me, the san antonio spurs would be a good fit for him.  he’s got a lot of manu in his game and is a good passer and shooter.

The Suns probably made a mistake on Bledsoe. I wonder if it will impact their thinking on Dragic.

      Absolutely!

Per Basketball reference, Dragic has spent 91% of the season as a SG, compared to a 47% in 2013/14 and 3% in 2012/13. He’s a score-first PG, but… he’s still the best distributor and playmaker on that team!

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it; everyone says. So I don’t understand whyy the Suns would look for reinforcement in the most loaded position in the roster. I’d certainly prefer Dragic over Thomas.

Probably down the road but all these guards the Suns have wont see court time.  Big trade ideas?  Just a few.  Would like to see "Double Dragon bros" vs Bledsoe so here are some options

    1. Suns trade Bledsoe, Tucker,Toliver, pick from Lakers

    Pacers trade George, Scola,

Pacers would have to want to reset in this trade.  More for future for Pacers, Next year for Suns

    2. Suns trade Bledsoe, Tucker, Toliver, Suns pick 2015

Pistons trade J. Smith, G. Monroe

Suns get bigger and Pistons move past failed experiement with Smith.  Avoid contract tussel with Monroe

    3. Suns trade Bledsoe, Tucker, Tolliver, right to swap picks

    Knicks trade Stoudamire, Shumpert

Knicks lose 5 mil off cap, gain dynamic backcourt.  Suns try out former star, shed his salary if necessary

    4.  Suns trade Bledsoe, Tucker,

     Wizards trade Nene, Porter

Suns get much need rebounding. Wizards pair Kentucky backcourt of Wall and Bledsoe.

      1. Pacers would never ever in their mind think about trading George (especially not when his stock is at an all-time low due to his injury)

      2. Smith fits their style of play but Monroe would just be a rental (he will receive a max offer this summer I believe). So it would basically be Bledsoe (+ solid Tucker, Tolliver and a Pick) for Smith… no thanks.

      3. As much as I like Shumpert as a player, he is nowhere near Bledsoe. Why give up additional stuff as well? (Although swapping picks would definitely favor the Suns).

      4. ‘Best’ idea of this four, with Nene being a very solid big men who would fit the Suns (as their starting 5). However, Wizards will never trade away these two players to net them a back-up PG in Bledsoe (and Bledsoe would go mad if he had to go back as a back-up again).

Suns should try to trade away Bledsoe to give the keys back to Dragic. The thing they need are big men that can defend and run within their system. I would love it when they could exchange Bledsoe for Gibson and some additional pieces (Butler is too much I think, but McDermott and Snell?). This would give Phoenix a defensive athletic big man, Gibson would be able to start, and the Bulls would get a player that can attack the basket next to Rose (to lessen the burden on him) and that can replace Rose whenever he gets injured again.

His market value is tough because there’s so many good points in the league and he has reached his full potential.

Houston can clear enough room for him, they would be happy to have him return.

Phoenix do have too many point guards, they all can’t stay happy.

Something has to change, maybe it is just Ennis being traded, but if the Suns keep Dragic and Bledsoe and Thomas they will be spending around $36,000,000 on point guard types every season.

Trade Thomas to the Knicks for Shumpert or Hardaway and everything is settled.
