So, I've been told this over a week ago, but didn't post anything bc of fear of getting negs. However, Im going to just because. My boss, he and his wife are very good friends with a few of the owners of the Atlanta Hawks. Last week he went drinking with a few of them, and came back to me with a few "FYIs". Keep in mind, he's not a sports fan, so I had to decipher some of the things he was telling me.
Hawks draft- They promised some guy from Greece that they will draft him (Giannis Adetokoubo I assume). They have two picks in the draft (2 first rounders) and will take him with one. However, they are afraid some other team will take him so they are debating whether or not to trade these picks to move up to take him.--(IMO, I think he will fall to them since he's not working out with anyone.)
Hawks FA- There are two great players out there they want to sign (Paul/Howard). If they can get them, they look to trade their current best player (Horford I assume) to fill out their roster. They like some guy from Indiana (West/Granger??) (IMO- They do not get Paul/Howard).
Jazz draft- Utah likes this kid from Florida (Larkin/MIA I assume) and will take him. They also have two picks. They also fear he will not be there with their 2nd pick (21) and are willing to draft him with their first (#14). He also pointed out that they prefer him over some kid from Germany (Schroeder), and that many teams are turned off by Schroeder's personality. (Has anyone heard any concerns about him??)
(IMO- there were rumbles a while back of Larkin cracking the lotto, and I disagreed. Will have to wait and see if this happens).
These are not my bright ideas, and this is just something that was told to me by someone who is close to a few Hawks owners. Take it with a grain of salt if you want, but I think Im going to pencil in Giannis Adetokoubo to the Hawks on my mock, and really considering Larkin at #14 to Jazz. has anyone heard any rumors out there of any of the three rumors Ive mentioned????
Hawks has been known in the past to give out guarantees so I would not be a bit surprised if they gave out another one. As a Hawks fan why wouldn't we want to have a big 3 of Paul, Howard, and Horford? Horford only makes 12 million a year so they won't run into issues of 3 max players.
I'm pretty sure that if ATL was even in the running for Dwight Coward (pardon me I'm a Magic fan) then Jsmoove would HAVE to be staying in ATL, along with that other cast of like 4-5 guys that Dwight Coward played with in high school or whatever.
Also as a Hawks fan, who is going to shot the ball? Trade Hortford for someone on the wing to shot IF we to get CP3 and Howard (which I doubt we will)
There are rumors Hawks are interested in David West, but if they were to bring in Howard, I think he would prefer Horford next to him right? Either way, I think we all agree Howard and Paul are not going to be Hawks.
I think most of us will find the Giannis Adetokoubo promise believable, but what do you all take on Utah taking Larkin at 14, possibly over Schroeder and MCW?
I think MCW goes before Utah's pick, going anywhere from as low as Dallas to as high as Detroit. I think those 2 places and possibly OKC are his most likely destinations, so he should be gone before Utah picks. I don't know much about Schroeder, so I can't really say much about that.
I know people that are fairly high up in the Jazz organization and my sources know absolutely nothing about what the real decision makers are doing. The Jazz are notoriously tight lipped. There is absolutely no way an owner of any other team knows what the Jazz are going to do (Larkin v. Schroeder v. MCW v. etc.).
I'm not doubting the overall conversation. The points about the Hawks' plans seem reasonable. It's just not reasonable to think Hawks' brass know what Jazz decision makers are doing. All that said, Larkin apparently had a very good workout for the Jazz earlier this week.
I would take Schroeder or MCW over Larkin. The size factor (combined with somewhat short arms) is troubling to me. I'm not sure he can ever be a good 2-way pro regardless of his athleticism. On the other hand, I don't think there's a more likeable guy in the draft. I really hope he proves doubters like me wrong.
As a fan of the league and a basketball armchair historian, I would tell CP3 and Dwight to join forces with Al Horford and try to get something done. Big Al would be the perfect big guy next to Dwight Howard. Then CP3 can get D Ho the ball.
Then put some shooters around those three. John Jenkins should be a long term fit. Then whoever they can resign.
Lou Williams looks like an ideal sixth man for those guys.
With the Heat looking like they are slipping a bit, the East might be a bit more wide open next year. Indy should be very good, as should Chicago, but the Knicks might have peaked too. The Nets are flawed and have a low ceiling, and upstarts like the Cavs and Wizards look to be a few seasons away, at least.
If I am Atlanta, I am looking at the Spurs getting the best of the Heat last night with brilliant point guard play, size inside, and timely 3 point shooting.
Atlanta needs to find a Kawhi Leonard type if possible (can the Greek kid play D?), and some solid role players. Hopefully they are cheap and good shooters.
The Hawks need to try to get Paul and Howard on board. This could be there best chance since Nique's prime.
Draft wise, if they get a big three of their own, they need help on the wing. Guys like Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.
for schroeder : yes there are more than one story (some reported here in the forum by someone who know a former schroeder's teammate) about his big big big ... huge ... ego.
But is this so bad after all ?... he is compared to rondo so it's a little bit logical.
here is the link ...
I dont think Howard would leave La unless he gets into a win now situation... It's not like hes gonna go to a team this summer and win a chip so why not stay u guys were injured all year
Dwight's best fit will be with Chris Paul, Al Horford, Lou Williams, John Jenkins, DeShawn Stevenson (and picks) in Atlanta.
I guess the Jazz want to continue Big Al and Mo Williams' legacy of terrible defense. *sigh* Schroeder is working out in Utah this afternoon and I hope it goes well.

main problem with this site...
It's the main problem with the users. Why care about negs? That's a lot of insecurity/want to be accepted.

Thats y i lik posters like siggy, scarecrow, rudeboy, tol23 & joe wolf.. Dey aint scared to go against whats not popolur..they speak dey minds and sometime dey be rite.....,,,,!!!""!!
I think Schroeder will be a better fit for Utah because of his defense, Larkin may be the better offensive player with his pick and roll ability, I think both guards will be great selections. I just think Utah needs a defensive guard to help their team battle against the Tony Parkers and Westbrooks in the West...even tho not many guys can stop those all stars from doing what they do best.
I think teams like Utah and Atlanta should be happy what direction they're going, Utah has a bright future with Favors/Kanter gaining experience and should break out into the 14' season and Atlanta has to make big moves in the free agency to enter the level of the Heat, Bulls, Pacers and Knicks.
Chris Paul to the East would be HUGE. Any team with Chris Paul is an excellent team, remember the Hornets with West/Chandler?
Good info man.
I had Larkin in the lottery 3 weeks ago and was getting responses like this one.
"I will personally guarantee you right now that Shane Larkin will not be a lottery pick. A sub 6 foot height and wingspan pretty much guarantees that in itself, and he's not elite in any aspect of his game (his combine numbers don't really translate to the court)." - Wahoo757
I really like him to be the 2nd best PG in this draft and he would fit great with Utah who needs a boost in outside shooting and a PG to move forward with.
Adetokoubo would make perfect sense with Atlanta as well. They are likely losing Josh Smith this offseason and they have two picks in the range Adetokoubo is expected to go. They most likely won't be able to convince Paul or Howard to come but they will still be a player in free agency and a guy like Pekovic would be a great fit and allow Horford to play PF.
op is such a troll, i can't belive you take him seriously, his story is bull&$#%#&@! and full of loopholes!! don't belive him, it's not happened!!
