kikikikiParticipantLooking forward to the Draft combine-What things are you most looking to see come from this! And who might benefit the most?

Numbers_CruncherParticipantDepends what you mean by benefiting the most. Speaking in terms of money the player who could benefit most is Russell. He’s viewed as just an average athlete who will probably jump 35ish inches. If he jumps a 40" then he I think he would certainly move ahead of Mudiay and possibly Okafor on draft boards. A jump from the 4 to the 2 would make Russell approximately 1.6 million more over the first two years of his rookie contract (only the first 2 years are guaranteed in a rookie contract).
Looking at purely draft position then I think Justin Anderson could move up quite a bit. He looks very long and hasn’t been measured in like 4 years; plus, if he jumps 40" then he would, at the very least, move ahead of RHJ. Sam Dekker and Stanley Johnson could move up or down depending on how they perform. I guess this all depends on IF they perform?
The only difference between choosing between Tyus Stones and Cam Payne might come down to how they perform athletically.
Same with Kaminsky, Portis, Lyles, and Turner. Based on potential Lyles and Turner clearly take the cake, but what if Kamisky pulls a Cody Zeller and jumps a 40". That would be crazy, but I remember Kevin Love pulled off a crazy high vertical as well.
RJ Hunter and Devon Booker maybe seperated by as much as a vertical leap as well.

arambone2Cody Zeller didn’t jump 40", Russell isn’t going to jump 40", and Kaminsky sure as F isn’t going to jump 40".
Zeller jumped 37.5, and Aaron Gordon jumped 39.
Kaminsky will jump like 33-34 max vert, and Russell will jump like 35-36 max.

Numbers_CruncherParticipantI should’ve looked it up first, but my point was that they jumped higher then expected, and If Russell and Kaminsky jump higher then expected then it would be a boost to their stock. I never predicted that they would jump that high.

nill650Participant5 on 5 might be worth watching,if any top prospects were participating, but they are not.
combine is pretty much just a chance for scouts to interview and get to know the prospects theve already seen for years.
some of the athleticism ranking are interesting and could get players like walker or qualls drafted higher than there game would demand

OhCanada-ParticipantJarell Martin is going to prove his versatility and move up to just outside the lottery early twenty’s (15-25).

KDThunder35ParticipantI agree. Jarell needs to land in a good situation where he will be able to get time. His game kind of resembles Tobias Harris to me. Tobias has a higher basketball IQ, but Jarell may have the better outside shot and athelticism at the same age. I think the Kings should give him a look as he can play the 4 spot and would spread the floor for Boogie a bit. The Kings would need to make some trades to get a late first rounder, I wouldn’t gamble with a lottery pick on him.

machu46ParticipantIf he tests out to be solid athletically and shoots well in workouts, I could easily see it. He can spot up, shoot off the dribble, shoot off screens, and has potential as a defender.

EspressoprodigyParticipantI hope Rashad Vaughn lights it up. He has all the tools to shine in a combine setting, I dont know how healthy he is feeling though.
Someone mentioned Christian Wood, he needs to do good in interviews.

MopgrassParticipantI thought Mudiay wasn’t participating. Is he just doing measurements? I think we’ll see something in the 35-36" range vertically. He’s quick, fast, shifty, and strong. I’m more interested in seeing his running times and bench press.
I’m pretty sure Chris Walker and maybe Justin Anderson are in the 40" range.
I don’t think Myles Turner or Kelly Oubre are going to improve their stock with good verticals. Everyone knows they can jump. If Turner shows his running looks normal (overblown issue) and Oubre shows he can drive in 5 on 5’s, they’ll improve their stock.
The guy I think is going to jump off the page is Keifer Sykes. He’s a tiny dude, but his head gets even with the rim when he dunks (probably has to with his little arms). It looks like he’s wearing a jet pack when he throws one down. I’m certain he has a 40"+ vertical. He’s also a gnat on defense (in a positive way) and I think everyone’s sleeping on him Isaiah Thomas Jr. style.

arambone2I’m interested in who is going to surprise with improved/previously unknown measurables.
Most of these guys have been measured at previous camps or USA events, but none of them have been measured within the last 9 months.
The Kentucky guys were well measured at their pre-season team combine, and even their verticals.
Guys like Wood, McCullough, Towns, George Lucas who is only 18, Kevon Looney, Oubre, there’s going to be a nice surprise or two in there somewhere as far as measurables.

Rip255I like to see the difference between height with, and without shoes.
Are these guys wearing platform heels with 5 pairs of woolen socks underneath?
I’m looking at Kevin Love and JJ ‘6ft" Barea.

mgreener_34ParticipantKelly Oubre for me. If he blows the Combine away like I expect him too, he has a chance of being this years "guy who didn’t really play that well in college, but measured so well that some team is going to use a top 10 pick on them" player. If he comes at at a legit 6’7, with a 7+ wingspan, and jumps out the gym you guys know someone might snag him early. It happens every year.
Another player I’m interested in is Booker. He’s still so young that I would be surprised if he grew at all during the year. If he comes out as a legit 6’5 without shoes that would be great, and might offset some of the impact his shorter wingspan has on his game.

King CaluchaParticipantI just saw an interview on Oubre. He said team fit isn’t as important for him as getting drafted really high (top 7). He also talked about his superior athleticism. I’m not impressed by his game, but the potential is there.
PS: George Lucas will have good measurements. He will get late 1st consideration.

Mr. HookShotParticipantI am really interested in the Harrison-brothers. They started as top prospects, but every year they dropped a bit further in the mock drafts. If they show solid athleticism they should be able to stop their slide. But more importantly, if they do well in the interviews, and shed the label of being arrogant and desinterested, I still believe one of them will get picked in the first round.

OhCanada-ParticipantUpshaw unofficially measures in a 7’7 wingspan.
Tyus Jones 6’2 with 6’5 wingspan.
Rakeem Christmas 6’10 with 7’5 wingspan. Hard for me to believe Christmas doesn’t carve out an Amir Johnson type role. I understand he is older as a senior but he continues to develop, had a great year, really worked on his body, has excellent size as a PF and small C and also has excellent athleticism.

machu46ParticipantUpshaw’s was actually 7’5.5"; some incorrect information got tweeted out, but the (official per NBA.com) unofficial wingspan was 7’5.5".
And I’ll be rooting like crazy for Christmas. He’s a really good guy; met him a couple times at Syracuse and we have some mutual friends that always rave about how great of a person he is. Really hoping he finds his niche in the league.
