Is it just me? Or is there some draft collusion going on?

Just a lot going on leading up to the draft. Russell cancels his 76ers workout? Hmmm… Now Okafor is going 4TH?!?! I dont know about that.

I think its coming from New York and Philly honestly. They are the teams who desperately need to hit in this draft. Because the Lakers and Wolves really cant miss with Towns, Russell, or Okafor.

I like suspense. Although, it may be pretty concrete to a domino effect of what is to occur; I like suspense to shake things up a bit and not bore us all on draft day.

Prospects rise and fall all the time, especially within mere days of the Draft

I see no reason to believe the 76ers would risk several 1st round picks to collude with their cross state rival Knicks, especially when they are seemingly in the driver’s seat if this years draft and the next (several 2nd round picks this year, and a few 1st round picks in 2016)

Why would the 76ers risk their future by trying to collude with their competition when they are in a great position to draft a G like Russell/Mudiay/Hezonja OR take a huge gamble on Porzingas if they truly feel like he’s a Dirk Nowitski type talent, I’m not sure of anything at this point…

It all seems like smoke screen and postering by several GM’s and news sources, people have a lot of vested interests involved in this draft, millions of dollars at stake that night…

I’m not going to read too much into these rumors and reports, the start of the NBA season isn’t until late October so let’s just hold off on Embiid health scares until than…

I think they are targeting Russell, Porzingas and Hezonja and are going to select the BEST player in their opinions…

I think they may be trying to trade back into the lottery to secure the rights to Mario Hezonja, he and Dario Saric would add a ton of versatility to the roster…

I’m just going wait until the draft to see what happens… Its bound to be interesting…

It’s not wise to assume that a little seen athletic 7’1" 3 point sniper ranked around 5th might rise and break up your precious consensus top 4.

And it wouldn’t be a surprise if prospects avoided a hell hole like the 76ers, especially if it means going to LA.

Last year Marcus Smart refused to work out for Utah, knowing that the two best franchises in NBA history were picking at 6 and 7.

And Randle turned down a second workout with Boston because he grew up a Lakers fan.

The playoff atmosphere in Philly is unlike anywhere, and that includes places like the Bay Area and Cleveland where they haven’t won forever.  Philly fans know their sports and don’t just root for you if you do good or bad.  They want greatness, they know talent, and they know who works their butt off.  So although I think we all are surprised by what Iggy is doing right now, people hated him thinking he’s an Alpha player like Iverson.  And they used to cringe everytime he took a three.  Iggy was not really a Philly type baller because he coudln’t handle the Philly fan cringes, whihc were appropriate.

Iverson was a great player who left it all out tehre, and Philly loved that.  I think if Lebron came here, you’d never see him want to leave town.

That atmosphere is not something you get in NY at the Garden, where its still more of a show playing in the big apple.  And LA wehre its just flashy fakeness.  Boston and Philly fans are great, and great players will tell you the same.  Barkley still loves Philly fans.

I think Hinkie knows what he is doing also, his approach is calculated.  It has us excited.  Its not a hell-hole, we are a true sports town.  The best sports season in my lifetime, was the 2001 Sixers.  That had the town excited more than the 2004 Eagles (and this is a football town first), and the 2008 Phillies who won the chip.

We are as passionate as it gets.

because of the GM, again, I’d take what they’re doing now, and watching the development, over being an 8 seed and drafting 16 – 18 every year, and handing out bad contracts to washed up stars like Elton Brand and Chris Webber.

I’m down with this plan.  I’m also okay with tanking next year as well for Simmons who looks really good.  This next year’s draft will be excellent.  Down to tank one more year, for Simmons and I like Malik Newman for next year as well.

The approach is calculated and that’s what is going to put players off.

They just saw the Sixers trade their ROY winning point guard after a season and a half after the guy was forced to play with D-leaguers for the start of his career.

It’s that sort of lack of loyalty that would put you off a place.

Who wants to go to a team that is committed to losing for the foreseeable future?

It’s not about Philly the city, it’s about the Sixers as a franchise and the culture they’ve created (or destroyed).

Correct. The franchise is a hellhole, not the city.

I kinda like what Philly is doing, but my guess is that most of these 19 years olds see Philly losing a lot and don’t really care how passionate the fans are. All fans are passionate about their team, so what makes Philly different? The perception is that their organization has been tanking. Not necessarily true, but thats probably what a 19 yr old is thinking.

Dario Saric is totally down with the plan of coming to play in Philly, and said he liekd what they were doing.  Its about player development which is what Brett Brown is all about.

Any player with high IQ and foresight will be down to play in Philly.  Unfortunately tehy need to go and watch some Iverson highlights because I think a 19 year old in 2001 was 5 then, lol.

This town is more passionate about sports.  Every town has energy, but this place is something else.  Some teams’ fans will root for their squad even when down.  Philly doesn’t do that for any player.

I’d consider Philly the NBA’s hell-hole. If there was a free-agent "destination-of-choice" Power Rankings, Philly would be #30. Even Minnessota has jumped ahead of them. Put whatever spin you like on it….they’re going to be the joke of the NBA next season as well. I’ve never switched teams before, but I would if I lived in Philly and supported the 76ers.

And why on earth would someone from Philly buy tickets to watch them intentionally lose? I’d rather give my money to the local wheelchair basketball team.

And believe it or not…being an attractive destination for free agents and trading for veterans (Which Philly once did)…is just as good as rebuilding through the draft.

And as for the "Ask Dario" Crap….lol. Why don’t you ask MCW instead since he knows first-hand….

Haha, i wouldnt call Philly a hell-hole, but they need to be careful about letting a losing culture become accepted. I hated the MCW trade and the latest Embiid news doesnt sound good.

Btw, by collusion i meant over-exagerating workouts and injuries. You always hear an un-named scout or exec say "if …. doesnt go #1 then blah blah".

Philly needs to stop over-thinking and just take Towns, Okafor or Russell.

As for New York, someone will drop to 4. Most likely Porzingas or Mudiay. If they dont like either of them at 4 then trade back and collect some more assets.
