It is because he is not a point guard.  He knows it and his coach knows it.  His playmaking ability is not on a point guard level.  He may learn under Billups though who also did not come in as a point guard.

^ good point….. billups came into the L viewed as a combo guard and not a true floor general, look at him now

Definately he’s not a passing PG, maybe he learns from Billups.

    Thankfully he can defend PG’s

Give alot of credit to chauncy billups he is a true leader, almost every point guard that played behind him ended up becoming a better point guard, we all know douglas can score now watch his game evolve

No offense to Douglas, but Chris Paul is just playing like crap right now. Jose Calderon destroyed him the other day as well and he’s one of, if not the worst, defensive starting pg’s in the league. I hope Douglas is improving and all that but last night’s game is no sign of his maturing or developing under Billups… more of a "what the hell is wrong with cp3 right now?" kind of thing.

I think the uncertainty surrounding last offseason when everyone thought Chris Paul had requested a trade or would be dealt changed things.  Once Paul found out he wasn’t going anywhere, it kind of killed his motivation.  I don’t think he’s in his best shape this season unless there’s a few nagging injuries I’m unaware of that would explain his decline in agressiveness and explosiveness.  Paul also appears to have modified his style of play to more of a Steve Nash style (without the shooting ability).  You know that style where Nash just walks around the defense drawing defenders to him and nobody can strip the ball off him… Then he looks for the bounce pass via a modified pick and roll… but without the pick.  Perhaps this is what the coaching staff has asked of him coming into this season.

I think Douglas is just as good as Arron Brooks right now (Douglas is a better on ball defender though).  I do believe he will he get real good real fast over the next season and a half under Billups at running an offense and being a true floor general.

Strange to think that Billups was considered a combo guard when he was drafted back n about 1999 although he has never been the most prolific past first PG who racks up big assist numbers. He has become a true on floor leader for all his teams since before Detroit’s rise a few years ago.

Has any consideration maybe been given to the Knicks looking to extend him as Kidd, Nash etc are still running the point at 39 and 37 years old. This might free up the Knicks to persue other FA’s in 2012, Dwight Howard springs to find.

Knicks may be wise to keep him or see if they can move him for Nash.  Paul is not 100 percent.  I think we may not see Paul at 100 until next year.

Also Douglas is better than Brooks.  A better shooter, better defender.  Brooks may be Quicker though but that is about it. Douglas is taller.  Douglas is stronger or appears to be stronger because he can take contact better on drives.

There was bad blood between the Knicks and the Suns when Coach D’Antoni moved on so any more for Steve Nash may have to be as a FA in 2012 when Nash would be 38 years old. If the Knicks did decide to go with a veteran PG and maybe look for a top FA C then Nash could be an option as he was a double MVP under D’Antoni.

If the Knicks did move Billups for Nash then it would have to be this summer as Phoenix would probably want to buyout Billups as they would not sacrifice Nash and take on extra salary even for Billups and Phoenix may demand a sweetner if they considered releasing Nash.
