Don't look now...

....but the Utah Jazz losing to the Knicks tonight ties them up with the Lakers for the 8th seed in the West. What a terrible time to lose four straight on the road. Anyway, I expect the Lakers to take full advantage, for this is the closest they have been to reaching a seed the entire season. Kobe's been playing out of this world and Dwight is playing better. Me being a Spurs fan, I can't help but be a bit worried about the Lakers if we are to have the #1 seed. They're not as deep as the Spurs, but they can make some serious noise, especially if Tony Parker is out of rhythm when he returns.

It's going to be interesting

It's going to be interesting to see how the Lakers come out vs the Bulls tomorrow knowing they can take over the 8th seed from the Jazz.

The best thing for the lakers

The best thing for the lakers would definitely be facing the spurs in the first round and hoping that somehow the thunder lose in the second round which is very possible. i think the lakers have a shot against every team in the west except for the thunder. as well, loving conspiracy theories and all, im going to throw something out there for idiots to carry on...david stern has paid the utah jazz to lose for the rest of the season and will promise them a good draft pick for the next three years to have the lakers make the playoffs.

Utah just has awful guard

Utah just has awful guard play. I am surprised they were even in the playoff race to begin with. They are stacked up front but they have needed to make a trade for a PG since Williams left for the Nets.

The Spurs are certainly a better matchup for the Lakers. They aren't nearly as young and athletic as OKC. The Spurs will still be a heavy favorite over LA in my mind because of the cohesion they have. The Lakers are playing well together finally but they are just getting into a groove where San Antonio has been together for years and operating at a higher level than this Lakers team appears capable of reaching...that being said they still have Kobe but I think Leonard can do enough to slow him down and make the other guys beat them.

If I was a Spurs fan I

If I was a Spurs fan I wouldn't be worried in the slightest. The Lakers are just not good defensively they have players who are slow laterally and players who are just lazy defensively, I mean Meeks was getting exposed by Alan Anderson, no disrespect to him but it's Alan Anderson what about when it's TP or Westbrook Iso'd against Nash. If you mix that with a team as offensively potent who can stretch you out all game long and expose their lazy defense it will be like the Mavs/Lakers series from two years ago...bombs away. Not to mention the Lakers are using every damn last bit of energy EVERY single night to squeak out wins to lowly teams. This is a LONG season Nash was playing near 40 coming right off of injury, Kobe is probably nursing a few injuries WHILE playing around 40 MPG but I'm not worried about him, and Dwight's injuries are well accounted for as well. I just can't help but feel they'll squeeze into the Playoffs and just get absolutely destroyed in the first round, it's like using all your stamina to run up a steep hill then you get to the top and there are four hills even steeper...
