Even though his future is in question there was a rumoe(have no link) that Walsh is talking to PHX right now about aquring Robin Lopez and shipping out Toney Douglas PHX would send back Dudley along with Lopez only if the Knicks decline Billups option creating some cap room or Turiaf could decline his player option and the Knicks could sign him for like 2.5per because he is very like by the whole staff, Walsh and Dolan. Walsh is also in talks with Memphis to aquire OJ Mayo and the deal is centered around Landry Fields and Reynaldo Balkman and of course a future 1st

So with Anthony, Stoudemire, Mayo, Dudley, Lopez, Turiaf and Rautins and Harper not yet signed under contract they have 13mil approx. in cap room. Signing guys like Billups(5mil), Dalembert(4mil), Ford(1mil) and Cook(3mil) also bringing over Jerome Jordan and Anthony Carter on a minimum deal

    Roster

Carmelo Anthony F, Amar’e Stoudemire F-C. Chauncey Billups PG, OJ Mayo G, Robin Lopez C, Samuel Dalembert C, Ronnie Turiaf C-F, Justin Harper F, Daequan Cook SG, Jared Dudley G-F, TJ Ford PG, Andy Rautins G, Jerome Jordan C and Anthony Carter PG

    BOLD– rotation guy

I like this team hope it happens

The way Sammy D played this year he’ll get more than 4mil. Expect him to be overpaid by a team in desperate need of a C like Atlanta or Toronto, heck even the Kings might shell out to keep him.

Fields and Battier on the same time? That would be awesome. Im not quite sure Mayo’s best NBA role is on a team like NY but it definitely is an "attractive" acquisition. They maybe better off with Fields in his sophmore year. This is Douglas’s first year seeing real important minutes consistantly. Second if you count the end of last year. Anyways what Im saying is he is a bit of a jacker, and does not run offenses well at times but he is young and skilled and with the amount of question marks Robin has it may not be worth the risk. Dudley however would be a great role player for the Knicks and quite similar to how Fields plays now.

I think Memphis will go for that Fields is cheap and a glue guy and could play 2 or 3 and Balkman is a nice defensive role guy…..Mayo could be the combo guard D’Antoni wants as he doesnt jack like Douglas and he plays the pick and roll very well. Dudley can play 2-3 and I’m high on Harper but Lopez ehh idk about him but who knows

Battier is a free agent I think after this season and I doubt he will be back with a healthy Gay returning.  Sam Young also is solid at the small forward position.

Why couldn’t Donnie Walsh have done something effective for the Pacers?  At least he traded JO instead of letting him drag the offense down to the bottom of the East.  But why is he all of a sudden taking a team like the Knicks to the playoffs and grabbing two of the biggest players in the league?  With the Pacers we never got more than Ron "Malice at the Palace" Artest and Mike Dunleavy.

The Knicks are a much more attractive FA location than the Pacers were after the brawl incident and Walsh can use that to entice FA’s. Also only this year the Pacers have cleared cap space so I guess their owners didn’t want to do a whole team makeover like Walsh was given the green light to do in NY.

NY do need to get a settled roster around STAT and Melo as keep chopping and changing will never take them that far forward each year. The key will probably be do they look to resign Billups or wait and try to get another big name FA next summer, if they decide to keep Billups then I feel they need to get in the likes of Battier and an experienced C to push the team forward. Thus they add more complimentary players around the big 2. Also they have a decent draft pick this year which Walsh can use or after drafting use the chosen player in a trade.

I wonder if they may look to buy into the draft again with their resources, I cannot really see any teams lower down in the first round wanting to sell picks especially to a Conference rival but there may be something on offer in early round 2. Would Cleveland be interested in the 32nd pick for a cash offer or Sacramento for the 35th pick perhaps?

I guess I was just venting my frustration at five straight relatively fruitless seasons for the blue and gold.

Sheltwon they love Battier in Memphis, he is undoubtedly the fans favourite player on that team overall. He is also a winner and cheap contract at that, I wouldnt let him go.

With Memphis having got Z-Bo resigned and looking to tie up Marc Gasol then I’d guess that Battier would be their 3rd main option to try and retain. Shane will get numerous offers from several play off teams/contenders around MLE I’d figure so he’ll have a difficult decision to make.
