Lets make sense of this FA period before the GM’s go crazy and start handing out 4-5yr bloated contracts to sub-par//unproven older or injured players. Who do you guys think will get paid heavily & not live up to the contract demands. Conversly, who will get paid & live up to the standard of their contract

DJordan C Clippers + A big who shows promise avg 7&7 but his per 36min for  career is a double double with avgs of 10ppg/11rbds. He is young and could grow into a defensive force for years to come.

    – Is he a sure thing after having a decent Year, albeit a Contract year.

$$$ being talked about i saw somewhere that a 4-5yr 50mill contract is what he is looking for.

i’m unsure about his future what kind of growth is expected out of Jordan. Or is this it, a player with extended minutes that could give you 10ppg/11rbds/2blks. If so, I think 10mill a yr is well worth it for a young C.

Thoughts Please about this guy or other big deals, that could help or hamper a team now & in the Future.

I think more than 12M for chandler is insane if you think long term. He has always been an inconstant player, alternating great years (with the bulls run, NO, and now dallas) with bad ones (chicago, NO, charlotte). Therefore he is injury prone….

I love what he can bring to your team (defensive, agressive, leadership) but he will be overpaid and in a new team (and a new system, a new coach…). So I feel he will be a cap killer in the next years (playing with paul could partially help avoiding that).

Looks like Denver will offer the MAX. This will be a franchise -crippling mistake to offer him 16-17mill. His #’s project to a guy that should be a 3rd banana C who has Never avg more than 8rbds per game. I think @ best he should get a 4yr 44mill dollar contract & put up respectable #’s of 12-14ppg/7rbds. However, here’s an article about the Nuggets offer to Nene…

Horford and Noah got 12mil/year, so comparing them to Nene I would value him at 10-11. 15mil is Randolph/Boozer money. They got that from being 20/10 big men. Nene isn’t that. I’d let this guy go to NJ if I was Denver. With or without him they are going to be a lottery team. With him they get Thomas Robinson in the draft, and without him they get Davis. I feel like re-signing him they enter into Bobcats territory when they re-signed Okafor. Giving frachise money to a big who is only going to give you enough wins so that you can’t rebuild properly. They’ve got some great young pieces and cap space in place, they can be back in the playoffs in 2 years with a payroll under the cap if they play it smart.

31yr SF who in the last 3yrs has played 47/27/29 games. How does this portend to a Healthy future when you are a GM & CButler has only played 103 games out 246 in the last 3 years? Can you expect him to stay healthy now that he is on the wrong side of 30?  Career projections say’s when healthy he can give you 15-17ppg/5-7rbds/ & solid Wing defense, with great Chemistry teammate building type of intangibles.

With that being said here is my offer to CButler

    2yr 12mill dollar deal/With a team option for a 3rd year.

Expectation= I think if he is given decent Minutes (25-30) he could produce similiar careers #’s for a Chip team (Bulls) or a Rising team (clippers).

jjonz, his last 3 year game count is 29/74/67…he was traded in 09-10 and I believe you counted his time in Dallas and Washington as seperate seasons. Regardless, Butler is well past his prime, and is still riding the hype from the seasons where he dominated the ball for the Wiz when Gilbert was broken and put up great numbers. He’s a bit of ball stopper, not especially efficient and injury prone at this point in his career. I think the Clips will regret signing him, if they choose to do so. Whoever starts as their 3 next year will barely touch the ball with Gordon, Griffen, and Williams taking turns running the offense, so having a SF who can knockdown open shots, and defend should be their 2 priorities in a player. Butler is 31.5% career 3 point shooter, and has lost a lot of his defensive abilities with age slowing him down.

Centers will continue to be the most overpaid players in the league.  Finding near 7 foot players capable of competing physically in the NBA is a rarity.  These guys come at a supreme price.  It’s why Darko got a relatively large deal despite his lack of a great deal of success.  It’s why you still see guys like Jermaine O’neal and Shaq able to stick around for a while and still get paid a handsome salary.  It’s why Hasheem Thabeet went 2nd overall despite any inkling of an offensive skillset.
