Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI knew Dirk would opt out but it’s more likely I believe that he could leave Dallas. I’m sure Dirk will look at all options. What do you think? If Dirk were too leave where could you see him end up?

Leftovers16ParticipantThat would put him in the conversation with all the lebron talk but who knows I’m starting to get sick over where lebron will go just way too over exagerrated but most def throw him in with a deal that can pair him up with couple good players any team that can’t land lebron or wade should go after him

ilmagoParticipantI am not a mavs fan, and I am not a Dirk fan either….but I can’t see any team being “that” interested in Dirk. Let me explain.
1. Cuban loves him and he is ready to break the bank to keep the guy. Remember when he cried after Dirk won the MVP?
2. Dirk is 32. Amazing player, but….I do not see another team giving him a 5 years deal for the numbers he wants. The Mavs will.
3. They tried year after year to improve the team. They got close to win, but there are few presidents that do what Cuban does for the team and Dirk knows it.
4. Ppl love him. Ppl hate traitors, no matter how great they have been. Ask Vince CarterNowitzki will not move. I can see someone joining him though, that Dampier contract is gold for the Mavs

PlatypusParticipantDirk would be a great kick out player from Rose and would be a really athletic team
but i agree with the post above

sacphil_08ParticipantThis is a really tough call… I could maybe see him in new jersey with his old teammate devin harris and his old coach. He’d have a stud young center in brook lopez and a solid core. That way you can bring favors in off the bench and use him as a tyrus thomas type energy guy off the bench. Here’s the lineup
PG: Devin harris, (they need a backup point)
SG: Courtney lee, terrence williams
SF: Damion jones, quentin ross, jarvis hayes
PF: Dirk, Favors
C: Brook Lopez, josh booneYou add some shooters, a backup point and it could be good Really though i think that either lebron would have to go there this summer or carmelo next summer to convince dirk that he should play for an underachieving team because i’m sure he wants to take another stab at a championship before he goes out and he deserves one at least

IndianaBasketballParticipantI doubt Dirk leaves Dallas. He’s just opting out to sign a long term deal.
It’s a move that’ll also give Dallas a little more flexibility regarding their cap. The first year of his new contract will be $3-5 million cheaper than the last year of his old contract.
Dampier has a huge non guaranteed contract, which they’ll be able to use to their benefit. Eduardo Najera’s contract is a lot less, but is also non guaranteed. They should be able to add a couple of more pieces and remain contenders.

meisi4Participanti don´t really see dirk leaving but i see him as possibly the best compliment to lebron….
of course bosh would be also great with bron but i don´t really know if bosh is willing to ride shotgun because i remember going into the season bosh said he wanted to be “the man” and not the sidekick… and that not only once…but i still see a very high chance for dirk staying in dallas

GrandmamaParticipantDirk will probably resign with Dallas.

NYK2010ParticipantProbably resigns but if he leaves for anywhere maybe its Phoenix
What about a sign n trade to the Suns for Amare Stoudemire, he’ll get to play with his good friend Steve Nash.Suns
PG Nash/Dragic
SG Richardon/Barbosa
SF Hill/Dudley/Collina
PF Dirk/Collins/Lawal
C Lopez/Amundson
Also they still have a few exceptionsHow’s this Mavs lineup
PG Kidd/Beaubois/Barea
SG Terry/Stevenson/Jones
SF Butler/Marion/Carroll
PF Amare/Gooden/Najera
C Shaq/Dampier0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 12:08pm #343794
juves4783Participanthe’s going to stay in dallas. this was tactical move by dirk. first of all, with the nba over 36 year old rule, dirk will be eligible to get a 4 year – max contract. secondly, since he opted out, he can add a no-trade clause to his new deal. smart move by the crafty german.

arc1212Participantthe suns idea is incredibly interesting…him and nash are the best of buds too
chicago is a possible destination but i don’t see it happening
it just looks like dallas…i would be shocked if he goes somewhere else0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 2:13pm #343874
Da1potParticipantThere is of course a possiblilty Dirk is just opting out to see how this whole free agent situtation pans out. He does want to win a championship after all, and the best way would be going to the same team as Lebron or Wade.
