TRC1991ParticipantThis team will never win a thing if Raymond Felton is their starting PG

XYRYXParticipantI agree to some extend but I heard before Dirk will never win a ring the way his game is modeled and now every team wants a stretch 4 on their team oh and then there was Chandler not to mention Dirk had one of the best individual finals performances I’ve ever seen in person.
Don’t count out the Mavs. They clearly missed out on Deron and Howard in free agency but seeing both now I wouldn’t exactly cry about that. Maybe they can land Lance or Parsons/Deng and are back in the top 4 in the west.
They are a big market team with one of the best front offices in the league, maybe the best owner in the league and willing to spend if it’s worth the price.

HitsterParticipantGood to see Dirk taking a fair bit less than he could have done, he could easily have taken $15 million a year and said he’d taken a big pay cut.
I could well see Dirk actually playing past 40 if he really wanted to. Last season he was virtually back to his best and his per 36 minutes stats were the 7th best of his 16 season career.
This could well be the launchpad which will take Dirk past 30,000 career points in the next couple of years. He is already number 10 on the all time list and could go much higher in the next few years into the top 6 at least.

r377ParticipantIts funny you hardly hear anything about Dirk and FA. He just quietly signs for cheap.
I hope Chandler Parsons goes to Dallas.

GrandmamaParticipantProbably b/c it was a foregone conclusion he would resign with Dallas. I do think Dallas lands Parsons.

DolanCareParticipant$10 million a year lowww. Good for him for taking one for the team, there are a lot of players less talented than he who wouldn’t be so selfless.
I wish they would make a play for Rondo. I think he’d be a better fit than Melo for this team.

XYRYXParticipantNice to see him back now with the Mavs on a teamfriendly contact. To be honest I expected only a 2 year deal but I’m more than happy to see he wants to make it another 3 years.
If I’m not mistaken he already moved up to the 10th spot on the all time scoring list and if he stays healthy and scores around 15ppg he could be top 6 or 5 when it’s all said and done. People need to realise how much of a new era he create with his floor spreading beeing a 7 footer. The stretch 4 is basically named after him and how many MVP caliber players (KD and other) try to duplicate another ones signature move?
The last time I’ve seen a superstar copying the go to move of another one was when Kobe adapted MJs fadeaway jumper from the elbow/baseline.
Dirk is one of the geratest ever and a game changer, he really had such a big impact to the game imo and for sure he is one of the funniest, most honest and by far the most grounded superstar I’ve ever witnessed. I’m really proud of Dirkules and what he became after all those years putting so much work and sweat into his game.

HitsterParticipantDirk’s shooting range for a legit big man is probably one of the best ever and as a finesse player could well prolong his career for longer than most big men if his minutes are managed correctly.
Dirk is certainly the best European NBA player ever and possibly the finest European player ever, Sabonis immediately sprang to mind as well.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt is a great deal. Dallas is not done, but they have Dirk at $10 million and Monta at $8 million for the same price as Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton. The NBA is a crazy place, but it is possible to look at that as a good thing. Let’s see if they come away with Melo, Deng, Parsons, or some other SF of that or near that tier. If they go into next year with a starting five of Harris/Felton, Monta, Deng (who would seemingly be the most likely), Dirk, and Tyson, they can fill out a solid bench (which has been one of their strengths at building their teams) and be a dangerous team in the West.
