Did The Wizards just trade McGee and Young to Denver for Nene???

That's what Ric Bucher just said on ESPN and I am really interested in seeing if this is true

The Nuggets and Coach Karl could be perfect for Nick Young(who isn't nearly the headcase JR Smith was)

McGee would have a no nonsense coach for the 1st time in his life...The Nuggets have a ton of Youth and Depth on their roster...

Lawson, Affalo, Gallinari, Faried, MgGee, Young, Brewer, Hamilton, Mosgov...all they need to do is get rid of Miller and Harrington and they'll be set...That's not including Chandler...who know's maybe Chandler becomes expendible, I mean they have a lot of Depth at Sg and Sf...They could sign and Trade Wilson Chandler for a Pf...Does Chandler for Millsap make any sense next year...

The trades changed a bit.

Brian Cook is actually going to Washington, along with a Clippers second rounder.

Denver gets both avale McGee & Ronny Turiaf, and the Clippers get Nick Young.

How do you feel about it WizKid...Nene's deal is HUGE

you are clearing up space when Lewis's deal expires...But Damm, Nene is going to have to paly a big role In The Future...Maybe the Wizards are going to draft a Sg like Rivers or Lamb to hit the open shots...they could also try to sign Mayo and Draft the Best Available Sf/Pf...

This is great news for John

This is great news for John Wall. I think Nene will help him get more assists and cut down on the turnovers. McGee and Young seem like horrible team mates.

Its good to see the Wizards

Its good to see the Wizards learning from their mistake with Blatche, and parting ways with some of their knuckleheads. Nene will bring some energy and effort to the team. They needed some effort players and some veterans who could produce reliably.

I think this can help improve

I think this can help improve Wall with a vet big man. Washington has a lot of young talent in Wall, Booker, Singleton, Vesley, Crawford, and a few others. Crawford has shown he deserves to start so I am looking forward to seeing NENE, Wall, Crawford, Singleton, and Booker line up. Lewis can continue to come off the bench. Also if Blatche can't act right he can come off the bench as well.

Crawford is starting by default. He's just a chucker. Some nights they go in and others they don't. Lewis can't even get off the bench because of his bum knee. Rule #1 never bet on Blatche making a turn around.

this deal is OK for the Wizards...

i dont really like to see them ADD salary, but Nene is an established big man in this league...and i think they were going to lose McGee and Young anyway, unless they signed them (both of their salaries probably wouldve added up to the same amount as Nene's contract)...i wouldve liked to see them somehow get rid of Blatche in all this, and i dont really think McGee was the problem here...and i also wouldve liked to see them get some picks, not just a stupid 2nd rounder...

all in all, im glad Nick Young is gone, i hate watching him play...good luck with that L.A.

Did anyone else hear this about McGee?

In addition to his on-court struggles, it appears that Wizards center JaVale McGee is a bit delusional. Sources say he has informed the Wizards that he will be looking for a contract averaging around $14 million when he becomes a free agent after next season.

-Chris Broussard, ESPN (who I don't like, but, still)

14 million? For JaVale McGee? Seriously? Plus, Nick Young, I am sorry to say, is a chucker. He is a chuck-grade (meaning an upgrade of a chucker) for the Clippers, but the Wizards were not going to pay him what he wanted as a UFA. I think this is a great trade for the Wizards.

All in all, they get one of the better centers in the league and a guy who is much more versatile than McGee. Despite JaVale blocking shots, Nene is a better defender, passer and definitely more of a scoring option. Only a handful of guys in the league can compete with him physically.

I think the Wizards and Clippers got better, but I don't know about the Nuggets. Would be surprising to me if they signed McGee for anything close to what he is apparently asking, I will tell you that. Who would the Wizards have traded for or signed who was better than Nene? I can't think of anyone, honestly. They just got much better, John Wall should be happy as hell, barring Nene remains healthy (which he has been for the most part). He is still only 29 and I honestly believe he fills a tremendous hole for the Wizards with a guy down low who won't get pushed around.

I like this deal for Denver.

I like this deal for Denver. Nene is solid but 4 more years at $13M/yr for a 13 & 7 guy? Turiaf will be off the books after the year and you can let Mcgee walk if they choose to. Karl is one of the best coaches in the league and maybe he can teach Javale to not be such a stupid basketball player. Theyre close to a one year deal with Wilson Chandler so he should help too for this year. They still have the option to amnesty Birdman or Harrington. They could be definite players in free agency for some nice second tier players since guys like DWill and Dwight wont be going there.

Don't like this deal at all

Don't like this deal at all for my Wizards. What is the plan? What is Ernie Grunfeld trying to build here? This move just seems really desperate with idea of keeping his job #1 priority. Why do this trade? JaVale isn’t great or anything, but he gave solid production, and was still improving. Nene is reached his ceiling, and while being healthy the last few years (excluding this year), I bet he has a bunch of wear-&-tear due to past injuries. And while he’s been a good player the last 3 years, he’s having a down year this year playing w/ injuries. And this move hamstrings our cap flexiblity for the next 4 years, and I don’t think Nene is worth his contract.

If we were going to abandon this rebuilding plan, I would’ve traded for a player like Dwight Howard (even though is wasn’t possible), or someone who’s worth all their contract. We traded young for old, and we’re far from ready to compete.

Wasn't Andray Blatche

Wasn't Andray Blatche supposed to be included in any deal with JaVale McGee? I guess no one wanted that trash bag...just like Raymond Felton

Nick Young is an LA kid, and

Nick Young is an LA kid, and he gives the Clippers a true SG with size. Him and Mo Williams is a good scoring punch, I think Young will be a bench scorer for them and it fits him very good.

GREAT deal for the Wizards

GREAT deal for the Wizards because neither McGee or Young would have resigned with them in the offseason. McGee is going to demand the money Nene is already making anyways, and since Nene is better than McGee, this deal really helps the Wizards. The Wizards get the franchise center they wanted (though I heard they wanted Bogut more) and lose all the BS that McGee and Young provided.

Didn't Nene just sign in the off-season. He was a highly wanted big man who many teams were after. He decided to stay loyal to Denver and sign with them. Now less than 8 months later Denver trade him.........
