I havent seen any talk about him on this site at all. He deserves more recognition hes 6’8 with great length hes a strong good athlete with a good jump shot. Where do you guys see him going? I dont see him in any of these mocks and im kind of confused why.

He’s probably going to go back for next year unless Ohio State wins the NC. Next year the team will be his, with Sullinger most likely entering the draft. He reminds me of Corey Maggette, in his game style, close to the same size as well since Deshaun is closer to 6’6" than 6’8" He’s going to be a small forward in the league. I think he needs to improve his handle a little but he’ll be a good player most likely a lottery pick, not a top 10 pick but a lottery pick. He was also a 5 star recruit and a top 25 player Nationally 2 years ago.

The only reason why Deshaun Thomas reminds you of Corey Maggette is because he looks just like him.

i personally see no maggette in him as a player. he’s very not smooth and has no shot off the dribble or any handles… he scores by spotting up for 3 or on the block… not using any finnesse game or post moves either, but by throwing ugly shots up that go in after bumping his man a couple times. his hustle gets him off. rebs which help him score on the weak side…

    i might be wrong

Corey Maggette has never been a player that gets point off of the dribble. He’s a rugged, fast break run and gun athlete. He produces best when he gets a lot of touches. He fights on the boards and he’s an okay 3 point shooter. He fights on the boards. Corey Maggette also uses his body to beat his man, not some crazy quickness or just rising over them to shoot. Sounds exactly like Deshaun Thomas, who is actually an 36% 3 point shooter, that’s college three but it’s till 36%. Corey Maggette is only a 32% 3 point shooter fot his career. Not a great number.

And I never paid attention but they actually do favor in the looks department.

in the post than Maggette. Maggette’s only real NBA skill is driving for a foul. It’s gotten him a nice carreer. DThomas has a chance to be Maggette+. Plus rebounding and plus post game.

Haha yes finally a thread on this guy. One of my personal fav players to watch in college ball. He can score with the best of them but outside of himself he creates zero offense!!!! He averages like .9 assists a game on a team with sullinger and good three pt shooters. He def needs to come back another year to prove he isnt just a one trick pony and show that he can carry a team but also show he knows when to pass instead of force up a terrible shot

as much as that stat proves that he is not a willing passer…still i saw him taking many passes at the free throw line tonight and making good decisions. he would drive and throw a lefty floater ( his dominate hand obviously) or hed dump it down to the big fella and occasionally kick it out to the 3 ( he missed a few open shooters) but overall he played a high IQ game from being a zone buster. He was a HUGE part in keeping them tied before half when sullinger went out with the 2 fouls

He’s somewhat of a tweener. He reminds of me of Thaddeus Young.

He needs to work on his handle and he can’t go right if his life depended on it. He’s a good athlete, shooter and can really put the ball in the basket though. Solid rebounder.

He needs another year in college to close up some of the holes in his game if he wants to be a legit first round pick.

Not Maggette at all. His offense reminds me of a skinny Luol Deng. One dribble, jumpshot is deadly and is just as affective spotting up to go along with a little of ability to score inside. Occasionally can take a bigger defender off the dribble.. Not sure if he’ll be as serviceable defensively..

I’ve been watching DT since he became a buckeye. And the nba player he reminds me of is Rashard Lewis. He may be shorter but his ability to rebound and score in the post with back to basket. And able to hit the three reminds me of Lewis.
