Future_Scoutmonster dunk^ he truly is an athlete.
i think dru’s situation will be similar, he’ll be labeled bust his first year and then he’ll end up developing into a nice big

PulseGlazerParticipantHe’s why judging guys like Biyombo now is dumb. He’s an absolute stud and seems likely to become one of the top defensive bigs in the game.

bloodshyParticipantFavors is a project. He has few (if any) go-to moves on O. And on D he gets into foul trouble, though he’s improving in this area. But he is already Utah’s best defender when he’s not in foul trouble and it seems impossible for him to not get a double-double if given 30 minutes a game.
The Jazz rotation now starts w/Al at the 5, Sap at the 4, and Hayward at the 3, but it transitions to Hayward at the 2, Sap at the 3, and Favors at the 4 in the second quarter. And having watched almost all of their games this year, Harris, Hayward, Sap, Favors, Al is the Jazz’ best lineup with significant minutes by far.
I agree that Favors is a future superstar.

Bmore_DCParticipantI am really high on Favors but he is not better than George, Cousins, Monroe, or Wall yet…
Not saying he wont be, but until he gets some starter minutes, it will be hard to really get a feel for him. The one thing he has going for him is that, besides George, his team is actually pretty good…Monroe, Cousins, and Wall have to play with lesser talent which (esp as a PG) really hurts your game…
That being said, i really think Favors will be an all-star eventually…

patty-millsI just dont see the the Dwight Howard Comparisons, Dwights a much better rebounder, and just makes much more impact defensively (although Favors is good defensibly).
And dont forget Howard was 14, and 10 coming out of high school.
Favors its his second year and hes shown flashes but hasnt been that good yet.
I see his upside as more of a prime Jermaine o Neal to be honest, it took Oneal awhile too, Favors has potential but im not sold yet.

Pick-and-nothingParticipantKeep in mind that Dwight came into a situation where he was given full control. Derrick came into New Jersey ripe with trade turmoil directly concerning him. He finally is traded, then he is smack right behind Big Al and Paul Millsap. Those guys are almost All-Stars, better than a 14/10 player. Better than Dwight was when he was a rookie.
Mark my words Derrick Favors will anchor a championship level defense.
I’m not sure yet, but it seems he has a better shooting touch. His mechanics on free throws is good. He can occasionally hit the 10-15 footer and the 3-7 footer. He needs to learn how to finish like Dwight, but that will come with strength (wich lends to better balance).
I truly think D Favors in his prime will be a #1 guy on a contender.

festar35ParticipantI’m excited to see what Hayward and Favors can do going forward. Personally I hope they trade Jefferson as Millsap has shown he can play with a number one option which Favors may become, where as Jeferson is very low-post dominant and likes to be the center of the offence.

SwatLakeCityParticipantNot only is Favors impressive but so is Hayward. The past like 20 games or so this guy has done nothing but impress me. He started out the season struggling, and really looked questionable in the starting lineup. He had his few outbursts here and there, but nothing to big until he went to the bench for a few games in favor of Josh Howard. Those few games he went off, no I don’t mean he went ballistic, I mean he became quite a bench player. Then all of a sudden, Howard had a season ending injury and Hayward was rushed back into the starting lineup. Ever since then he has been a completely different player. He’s confident, playing great defense, making shots, passing the ball, and becoming quite a player. Just look at his stats over the last 20 games or something compared to the rest of the season and you’ll see what I mean. After those few games coming off the bench, he went off.
When the Jazz drafted him in 2010, several people questioned the pick (me included), but now I am eating my disagreements with the pick. I am now one of the believers, this guy can play as can Favors. I can’t wait to see the Jazz next year with Favors, Sap, Hayward and possibly Burks in the starting lineup next year. (That last part made my mouth water)
Hayward was definitely a steal of the lottery, that no one saw coming except for the Jazz of course.

TruettParticipantWith Milsap at the 3 was scary last night.. Orlando was shooting lights out too and they couldn’t stop it. Favors gets most of his points off of rebounds and finishing of a p’n’r so while his offense has gotten a lot better, i dunno if you can call him a two way player yet…. future is real bright tho!

PulseGlazerParticipantI don’t get a lot of Utah anymore… how does Milsap look as a 3 regularly? If he can be consistent there, he can essentially play with Favors, Kanter or both down the line, getting huge minutes and this team is suddenly a lot closer to real contention. Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burke, Point Guard X (Dragic or Lowry, I’d hope) and Millsap as a sixth man? Wow.

Favors has been impressing a lot of people (me included) as of late.
“Due to the situation he’s in, he’s been forced to create too much of his offense by himself this year, which is not something he’s comfortable doing at this point in time…
Whoever drafts him must be patient though, as it’s unlikely that he’ll be ready to compete for Rookie of the Year honors, and he surely isn’t ready to play a major offensive role right away. Players with his natural tools are incredibly hard to come by, though, which is exactly why he won’t have to wait very long before hearing his name called on draft night.”
–NCAA Weekly Performers, 2/16/10
"Favors doesn’t have the offensive game that DeMarcus Cousins has," another GM told me. "But he’s a better athlete, a better defender and when the two of them met head-to-head in high school, Favors kicked Cousins’ butt. Had he got going earlier at Georgia Tech, he could’ve been, probably should’ve been, the No. 1 pick." -NBA GM (Via Chad Ford ESPN)
His measurements out of Chicago are virtually identical to Dwight Howard’s — which means he should be just fine playing center. All of this can change once players undergo individual workouts and interviews, but from what I can gather, Favors has the lead if the Sixers decide to keep the pick.
-Chad Ford ESPN.
The bottom line is this. If Derrick Favors develops as it appears he is doing, he will be a Superstar in this league. I can’t believe people wrote him off when he came as a project and now down the road he is showing major growth and promise.
