Favors is going to be a monster, for many years to come!
Although we got D-Will in return I was very upset that we had to ship Favors. A lot of people were writing him off while he was with us in Jersey, but I always seen the potential in him even while he played at Georgia Tech. Favors is a package, very well rounded player who can shoot the mid range shot rebound and block shots. He may not be as athletic as he once was but he is very skilled.
I bet the Sixers wish they could draft over again and take Derrick Favors rather than the inconsistent Evan Turner.
It should be good to see what Favors does with consistent starter minutes. He looks like he'll be a future all star.
Why is everyone so obsessed with this kid? He has a good game and suddenly he is a monster who, with like 10 more mpg, will be an allstar for years to come. Favors is an ok player who plays good D and rebounds well but struggles with most other aspects of the game. Sure he has the potential to become an all star but so do many other players who are young and athletic.
On a side note, if the Sixers had known what they know now before that draft. They would be daft to take Favors, even if he manages to outplay Turner there is no way they would pass on Cousins.
The reason people are high on him is because when he gets minutes and touches he produces. Yes he shows good potential, but he also shows production as well, when a guy produces and you know there is still potential there you can't help but get excited.
I understand excited, but maybe people are getting a little carried away here. He is not producing at some incredible rate, simply the same rate he has produced at for the past few years. Some of his stats are up a little like his PER and his pts and blks but some are down like his usage rate and his TS%. Overall his production has stayed fairly even since joining the Jazz in his rookie year. I am not denying he has made some improvments since then as he has had time in the nba to mature and learn, but it might be just a bit early to predict how many allstar games he will play in.
That's what Larry Sanders does in 20 minutes lol
Haw many monents a game that people flip out aned say how unbelevable this 20 year old kid did.Eventually those 3 -4 moments a game. will blossom into 9-10 moments a game. 22 ppg and 15 rpg is ot to far off. 3 blocks 1 stael a game loks like a perennial allstar in a year -2
Favors isva great prospect and he's rounding out his game little by little, but Turner has progressed into a very good 2 way player too, he can play 1 through 4 and will only get better in time with an added jump shot and more confidence in his ball handling and passing ability, Turner is also an elite rebounder from the Sg/Sf position, he and Favors are about as inconsistent as the average 23 year old in the NBA...Cousins is still a headcase, Wes Johnson was the bust of the top 5 and nobody thought Greg Monroe was worth the 2nd pick at that time, Favors was and is still very Raw and wasn't the right fit at the time.
