lalailaParticipantFirst of all i love early Sunday games because it’s still evening in Lithuania and i can watch it.
offcourse big 3 dominates but this games is still very interesting..
this young man Derrick is looking for every rebound 9rebounds already with i think 7offensive..
he really shows potential which made him #3pick and i see no bust..guy has nice attitude work ethic and he will be in Wall,DMC,Turner range in a few years

mgreener_34ParticipantHe’s way ahead of what everyone thought he was going to be at this point. He was supposed to be a project, but from ive seen so far the guy has a good basketball IQ, good work ethic and drive. Very impressive. Lopez and Favors should make for a scary front court over the years

TheWizardParticipantOne ok game from Favors and you guys are already acting like he has proved himself?
I love Favors drive to get rebounds, but it seems like it is all he is cared about out there. He has left open Haslem and Bosh several times because he is getting greedy down low.

gregoden08ParticipantI have probably been the biggest supporter of Favors on this site. I have always felt like he is going to be a star. I really like what I’ve seen from him so far. He’s rebounding the ball at a very high clip and he is getting to the line quite a bit as well which is impressive considering he is playing limited minutes. I always liked Favors more than Cousins because Favors is a much better athlete, has more defensive potential and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective. Not to mention the fact that there are no real character concerns. If Favors continues to work on his post game and his mid range jumper, he will be scary in 2 years.

TheWizardParticipantWas that not Favors that shoved Ilgauskas in the 3rd quarter? On the replay Favors intentionally elbowed ilgauskas in the stomach.

HitsterParticipantFavours has been getting decent minutes from the bench probably more than anticipated since Troy Murphy is injured but starting with a veteran like Joe Smith was a wise move as Favours can be eased into the game. We all know he isa a great athlete but his progress already has impressed me and whilst I think if Cousins does fulfil his potential he may have more upside than Favours, I always felt that Favours was a better fit alongside Lopez longer term.
The Nets already look much more competitive this season and will not rush Favours but will give extra minutes if he earns them in due course. Getting Murphy back will also be crucial as Lopez doesn’t want to play excessive minutes like last year and Favours will have to adjust to an 82 game regular season as the year goes on.

JNixonParticipantIt’s always funny to me when you say something about someone that another person likes, and they call you a hater. I have no reason to hate on him at all. None

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI’m just saying this now: Favors needs to put 15lbs on. He looks like a SF from what I saw.
I think he will be a solid player, remember he’s next to a superstar in Lopez so his numbers won’t be fantastic. I see like 14 and 8

HitsterParticipantLopez isn’t a superstar coming off a 12-70 season, sure he put up great stats but the finished product isn’t there yet. Alongside Favours it gives the Nets a nice balance and they should compliment each other nicely. If the Nets get 30 plus wins this year and Lopez puts up similar stats then he could be an All Star contender maybe in 2012.

gregoden08ParticipantHaha yeah I guess hater isn’t the right word lol. Idk…I just feel like Wilcox is a bad comparison.
Knick-What are you talking about? Favors is very strong. He’s a legit 250 with a strong lower body. I can see Favors averaging about 13.5 ppg and about 8.9 rpg by the middle-end of season. He appears to be way more active and has a much better motor than I gave him credit for when he played at GT.

JoeWolf1His numbers will cool off as the season progresses, but I think that even after 3 games he has proved he can at the very least be an effective rebounder at an NBA level. I too think Lopez compliments him right now, he doesn’t need to score any more in the post except garbage buckets and dunks and layups.
I think he’ll have a Taj Gibson like rookie year statisitc wise 9 or 10 points and 7 or 8 boards a game with a block + change.

slats habilkParticipantI don’t see how Favors couldnt average 10 boards a game this year. If he keeps playing at this level, Avery will play him about 26-29 mins and since B.Lopez is totally allergic to rebounds, there will be heaps for Favors to grab

stanford hoopsHe should be able to pass wilcoxs rookie year of 3pts 2reb
He actually is showing more of a motor then he has before. I still think cousins will be better because he’s more skilled

Mr. 19134ParticipantHis offense is very reminiscent of Wilcox’ but Wilcox is a bad defender and not as great of a rebounder as he should of been. Thats why Wilcox didn’t get minutes. He didn’t rebound and block as many shots and teams thought he would be able too with his strength and leaping ability.
