OhCanada-ParticipantIm assuming the trade was Derrick Favors, at least 2 1st round draft picks, Devin Harris and what ever players needed to be added for financial reasons for Deron Williams. Will this open a door for Sloan to return.

BKKnicksfanParticipantSloan’s not coming back. Not his style to leave then return.

magmo68ParticipantI think Sloan left because D Will was forcing his way out of Utah

flyboyParticipantI don’t see that happening. I don’t think Deron was the sole reason for his retirement.

OhCanada-ParticipantHe may have retired because he knew this was happening. Perhaps when he realized the window had closed he decided he was finished coaching. Deron Williams asking for a trade may have pushed him to retre.

RickyRubio9ParticipantThat can’t be right; I keep reading it’s a 3 – Team Trade.

torontoraptors10ParticipantThe official trade:
Utah trades: Deron Williams
New Jersey trades: Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, two 1st round picks and cash
IMO, Utah got the best of this trade. A solid PG in Harris and Favors has the potential to be a good PF in the league. Also, the two first round picks could be around the 18-24 pick range because I feel this trade will not benefit Nets as much. I mean you got Deron Williams but, you only have Brook Lopez as your other best player. IF the Nets can get some free agents this summer, then this trade will have paid off and could be a potential deep lottery team. In addition, those two first round picks will be mid 20 picks.
I don’t think Sloan will return, he is too classy for that. He doesn’t want to seem like a pu**y for leaving when Deron was there and when he is gone, then Sloan comes back.

flyboyParticipantBecause, while I like Harris, he’s not the type of player whose going to lead a team to consistent victories. Also, now they have to make the determination of what they do with Jefferson and/or Millsap. Because you don’t want to block Favors. They need to make the decision to either fully rebuild or fully reload. If they go the rebuild route, Jefferson has a big contract and hasn’t quite been the same since his injury, and Millsap was great in October and November, and until late had tailed off of that level, so does a team take on his contract? The best part of this deal for the Jazz are the draft picks and Favors’ potential, and even more importantly, to get rid of the distraction that D-Will had become and to move on.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantThe Jazz have to do something about their big men. Jefferson, Millsap, Favors AND Okur? I’d think one of them has to go, especially when they now only have one semi decent shooter on the team.

BlueLacesParticipantNew Jersey has also agreed to send Troy Murphy to Golden State for Wright and Gadzuric in a seperate trade. I don’t know why they are reporting it as a three team deal.

SwatLakeCityParticipantThe picks are from the Golden state trade that New jersey recently did when they dealt Murphy for Wright and Gadzuric, as well as New Jersey’s own pick. Correct me if I’m wrong but one of those picks is lottery picks. Jersey’s pick will probably be from 10-14 range and then the other one will probably be 14-18 range.
Question is now who do the Jazz go for with that lottery pick. They might even get two lottery picks with their own pick!

butidonthavemoneyThis is just the best thing I’ve ever read.
"I have no reaction to what the Jazz are doing. We wish him well," Sloan said of Williams. "We wish the Jazz well. Good luck to Deron."
Sloan then said he had to "go rake some leaves right now."

Counting StarsParticipantThat quote is Jerry Sloan through and through. I don’t even need a source.
It’s not really a 3 – team deal. One of the picks the Jazz got from the Nets is the Warriors 2012 pick which the Nets got in the Troy Murphy/Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright deal.
And I think Sloan is done. As it’s been pointed out, D-Will is not the only reason Sloan left. Part of it seems to be how the upper management handled the situation. God and Jerry Sloan know what else went into that decision.
