Deron Williams and the future

It seems like Williams is pretty content on leaving after this season but if the Nets win the lottery and get Anthony Davis, wouldn't he stay? The Nets would have some opportunities to make their team better with Davis. They could keep Davis and pair him with Lopez and having a lineup of Lopez, Davis, Wallace, and Brooks isn't that bad, especially if Brooks and Lopez stay healthy and continue to develop. Add Deron Williams and thats an up and coming team. Or why not try to acquire D. Howard for a combination of Davis and Lopez and another asset (draft pick or young player) and then the Nets could resign Humphries (no one would be able to outrebound the Nets then). So in other words, I believe Deron stays with the Nets as long as they can win the lottery (and if Davis declares for the draft of course).

Maybe

Wasn't Paul Pierce suppose to be gone too in 07? (http://www.aolnews.com/2007/06/26/paul-pierce-bring-me-a-co-star-or-trad...) Then what happened, oh yeah the Celtics got him Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Things and situations can change.

The Nets tried to take short

The Nets tried to take short cuts by trying to aquire other team's superstars (Lebron = failed, DWill=Good as gone) and it has failed and now they will end up with nothing. Had they just rebuilt their team thru the draft and kept Derrick Favors, last year's #10 pick (Alec Burks) and kept their lottery pick this year to select (Gilchrist or Barnes) they would have had a solid young foundation. Now it's looking like they will come up empty and just having Brook Lopez as their main piece to build around.

In that case, why wouldn't he stay with the Jazz?

If he was willing to stay if the Nets can rebuild through the draft, then why wouldn't he stay with the Jazz? Face it, Dwill is too impatient, he is not willing to wait around, all the while hoping that the Nets will be good eventually He wants to win now. The writing has been on the wall ever since he was traded to the Nets. The Nets' only hope was trading for Dwight, which had a very slim chance of happening.

He's off to Dallas or LA Lakers

Technically

If the Nets win the lottery or get the 2nd or 3rd selection, they get to keep their pick (2012 top 3 protected).

The Lakers? They don't have

The Lakers? They don't have enough cap to sign Jason Terry to a 60% paycut, how in the world do you think they'd afford D-Will?

^^^^ you joking?? The reason

^^^^ you joking?? The reason the mavs didn't sighn chandler , barea, butler , and Stevenson(all key parts to there championship )was to have cap space for next year

Also if there is talks about signing Dwight and deron I think they will be able to sighn just deron

I don't think even Davis

I don't think even Davis would make Deron stay. He could be a franchise changer one day, but at 18, is at least 5 years away from fulfilling that. Deron wants to win now.

Davis might be the only way

Davis might be the only way Deron stays, and he'd be an excellent frontcourt complement to Brook.... but... that's unlikely and Deron either ends up in Dallas or LA for Pau.

WizardofOz: No, Dwill did not

WizardofOz: No, Dwill did not ask to leave the Jazz, but if they didn't trade him he was probably going to ask to do that anyways. Kevin O'conner did the trade because he felt that Dwill was not going to want to stay, and it was the best offer at the time. I was making that comment based on that assumption.

Cavairo7 made a good point.

Cavairo7 made a good point. If the Nets do keep their pick which would be in the top 3. Do you think they would use that as trade bait to still try and get Dwight? D-Will would definitely stay then. Dwight only singed through next year so if he really wanted to stay in Orlando, wouldn't he have signed longer? If anything the Magic will go through the same hoopla again next year. The Magic could acquire that pick along with other players and have a young player to build around. Maybe even have a chance at Andre Drummond or Anthony Davis to replace Dwight. Just hypothetically speaking

I feel so sorry for the Nets.

I feel so sorry for the Nets. If they end up with the 4th pick in the draft then that goes to the Blazers and Deron says his goodbyes and heads to Dallas then that means they would have traded youngersters Kanter, Favors, and maybe Beal/Barnes for nothing.
