Denver Nuggets Expectations Thread
Now that Melo is gone I would like to know what are your expectations for the Nuggets?
- I would like to see the TRUE LOYAL Nuggets fans on .net speak out to let me know how you feel about Melo & your new roster
- I would like to see Ray Felton be a mentor & come off the bench behind fellow UNC PG Ty Lawson if he is their "future"
- J.R. Smith start at the 2 & rip the NBA apart
- George Karl get a more fast paced up & down team incorporated like D'Antoni since he has very quick PG's to make it work
- Keep Gallo unless you deal him to Jersey
- Chandler & Afflalo to come off the bench for instant offense
- Starting 5 of Lawson, Smith, Gallinari, Martin, Nene
I have a feeling Gallinari and Nene are going to be traded. Nene to the Rockets and Gallinari to the Nets. I would prefer if Ray Felton starts over Lawson, he's been having a great year, unless they trade him aswell, which I doubt they would.
Not a denver fan, but ive been waiting to see what Smith could do as a starter. And now i think he's gonna finally get his chance. I doubt Chandler comes off the bench, or for that matter Felton either.
Rumours indicate the Nets are no longer in the hunt for Mosgov and Galinari says David Aldridge. Dont ruin the Raptors only chance of decent improvement!
Clippers will most likely get Galinari, with Minnesotas 2012 pick.
Denver seems to like Nene. I heard they want to extend his contract. He might even retire a Nugget. As for Gallo, he won't be there for long. He's either going to New Jersey or Toronto but I'm thinking more New Jersey. The nets will probably trade Favors for Gallo. Also JR Smith will probably leave soon. Him and Martin might be dealt together but who knows to whom. I also that the Knicks are looking to unload Al Harrington, not quite sure who will receive him but I hope Utah will after him, he would be a nice backup to Millsap and would also give Utah more bench scoring when CJ starts.
At the end the Nuggets starting lineup will look something like this Felton, Afflalo, Chandler, Favors, Nene.
They wont trade Favors for Gallo...
This is going to be very rough life after Melo ordeal, because they are going to be in a rebuilding stage for a hot minute. Other than Gallo J.R. Smith has the most trade value but mark my words he is not going anywhere, can you say "franchise tag" yearly.
Come on Nugget fans where are you, I'm not talking bout Melo fans, I'm talking DIE-HARD Nuggets here is your chance to let us know if you're "loyal"
I have no clue who you're calling out, I haven't seen a Nuggets fan on these forums. Even in '09 when they made it to the conf finals.
I'm not calling anyone out to bash, I just wanted to know if there were any loyal fans, that's all.
Thanks though, I was not aware there were 0 out of 1mil .net users
Nene's situation is up in the air. Does Denver extend him, do they trade him so they don't lose him for nothing, do they sign and trade during the summer? What they do with Nene is going to really be an indicator. From what I've seen, it doesn't look like they are going to trade him. He loves Denver and he's still effective and pretty young, but he could net the Nuggets a very nice deal, given the lack of great big men around.
Felton most likely won't be a Nugget by the start of next year, at least. Gallinari supposedly is unlikely to remain a Nugget, and Mozgov's tenure likely hinges on what they decide to do with Nene. If they trade Nene, I think they keep Mozgov as the future C. Gallinari supposedly is looking like he could be a Clipper, and they would gain an unprotected 2012 Minnesota draft pick from the Clippers. The Nuggets are looking to SHED salary, not gain any. So, any moves they make, look for them to also attempt to trade Harrington and Andersen. Martin's expiring contract is still there and he's a valuable piece for them. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to pair one of their overpaid contracts with a sweetner and try going that route.
The only guys I think are safe are Lawson and Afflalo. Chandler is also a FA at the end of the year and is trade bait for that reason. Their overall grade is incomplete, and will be until all the dust is settled and they've made all of their moves.
If I was Toronto I would take on Birdman's contract (Im a big birdman fan lol) to go with Gallo for Barbosa or Evans and their later draft pick from Miami.. I think that would work out good for both sides.
Where did the Favors for Gallo come from? I saw it mentioned up there
What about Jeff green and mo Pete for Nene and a pick I guess. Let Chandler walk move green to sf idk just a idea
I think that Coach Karl needs to look at all his new roster and decide with the GM and the Kroenkes on who should stay and who should go etc. I'd assume that Felton is likely to be moved on unless they are not sure Lawson is ready yet and taking Felton on saves them money on having to take up Billups's option for next season.
Lots of trade offers involving Denver will fly about in the next 48 hours and we can guess them all we like. My take is do Denver look to rebuild with what they have got or do they look to make trades and maybe generate future picks to rebuild with. I think they are at about $67 million on the cap at the moment so should be under luxury tax level this season which Stan Kroenke will have wanted. Also Wilson Chandler is a restricted FA this summer and Nene can opt out etc so there are many possibilities to unfold.
Gallinari won't be traded and they see him as a building block for the future. Which, to me, is the correct decision. I think he has great potential. It's looking like the Nuggets may sit on their roster, make some minor moves, and see what they can do these next few months and if they can make the playoffs. And also then they can assess the draft positions of certain teams who are willing to trade picks for their players.
The roster they have now I don't see making the playoffs but maybe if they come out energetic and connect with each other early, they can do damage. George Karl is the right coach to be at the helm of this type of situation.
Guess this means no more Nugget games on t.v.
