Honest assesment, what do you all think of him as a prospect? I’m looking for believers & non-believers if possible.

I like his size, his ability to create his own shot, his athletic gifts, quickness & strength, talent to get to the rim, and his ability to get buckets in both the half & full-court.

I don’t like his defensive intensity, or his awareness/effort consistently, his tendency to pre-commit to a play regardless of what the defense gives him, middling catch and shoot percentages, and fairly loose handle.

Weighing his pro’s and con’s, I would have to say that I come away a big fan of his game. He just has an aura of potential. I believe he instantly becomes one of the top 5-6 most athletic PG’s in the league when he takes the court. His weaknesses will be exposed early, but put him on a team like the 76’ers or the Heat where he can play pick n roll with Whiteside/Embiid.. create offense when they’re double teamed, or drive and kick to perimeter threats is exciting to think about long term. He will need a bit of a leash & minutes to play through his mistakes IMO.

God I love this PG class. Any team in the top 7-8 range of the lottery could legitimately land a franchise point if they play their development cards right.

Yea, I’;ve always been fond of Dennis Smith Jr. When he tore his ACL, I thought he lost a bit of explosiveness, but overall he’s gonna be a good talent with the right situation.Coming out of High School, his style reminded me a bit of Marcus Smart. But in College he’s played well and I think he can thrive with the right development team.

Sixers would be happy to land Smith for sure.  I would look for him to become a better piece than Reggie Jackson or Eric Bledsoe.

       Absolutely,

He seems to have a better "floor general" mentality than Jackson and Bledsoe.

I think he’ll thrive in the big league : more space, pick n rolls, better coaching and talent around him.

Sacramento doesn’t have a first round pick so…that’s a good thing for those young guys.

I’m not a Kings fan but they just drove me insane these past years.

As of right now the Kings do have the 9th pick so Fox’s career might not be safe lol

He’s a freakish athlete, a guy who makes other top level athletes look average in comparison. He has that alpha dog mentality, but still shows a knack for creating for others at least some what, and seems to genuinely being apart of this NC State team, always the first guy to jump off the bench and cheer, to dap guys as they come off the court. I like him for one in a million physicals, but I love him for his mentality.

He’s got a really good first step and his bounce is unbelievable. He plays above the rim as easily as a 6’6" wing. Dunking is second nature to him. He’s incredibly strong. Shoots the three ball pretty well. Seems to have at least adequate court vision. Shoots terribly on jumpers inside the arc. I thought of him like an Eric Bledsoe before this season, but he might end up a bit better. Still, i don’t see he’s got great skills. He’s definitely got All Star potential.

Point guards don’t have to play great defense in the NBA to be sucessful (See Westbrook, Curry, Kyrie, and Lillard). What concerns me is that 6’3 wingspan of his. Would be interesting to see how he fairs against long, skilled athletes in the NBA than scrubs in college.

He is like Lowry with hops. Dribbles like him, passes like him. Just need that bulldog defense.

I wasn’t too high on Smith early in the season but he is probably surpassing Lonzo ball as of late in my eyes as the 2nd best PG in the draft. He just took it to the Blue Devils which always gets a few bonus points for me.

He is starting to knock down 3s at a decent rate which was one of my criticisms of him early. He also appears to be finding a better balance of getting his while running the team. His quickness makes him impossible to keep out of the paint where Ball seems a step slower getting inside in the half court.

I wish he would have picked a better team to play on much like Ben Simmons last year but I wouldn’t mind him on the Sixers with Simmons at this point.

Its different than Simmons last year. NC State has had relative success. They made the tournament 4 of the last 5 years I think. Gottfried is a good coach and a very likable person. Smith is invested in this team emotionally and personally and you can tell he loves his coach and teammates. Not saying Simmons was a bad teammate but he didnt eat sleep and breathe LSU basketball like Smith does NC State basketball.

Career high 32-points against Duke today. Beat them down the stretch in so many ways. Some people on this site said he cant run a team and that is dead wrong he is a great team player and he makes everyone around him better. Coach told him attack the rim and he went hard in the paint and took this game from Duke it was a dpecial thing to watch him and Mark Gottfrieds bond. Intense fompetitor a bit of Lowry, a bit of Paul, a bit of Westbrook. A said it before and Ill say it again he is my favourite player in this draft.
