The German stud has shot up into the lottery of the mock, after being a relative unknown as little as 3 months ago. He is quick and an above average athlete. He has the physical tools(solid wingspan, laterally quick, good hands) to be a good defender at his position. He’s ghastly thin and really needs to get on a meat diet and hit the weights to be able to absorb the more physical game of the NBA. His jumper is suspect at the moment, it is far from terrible, but it is inconsistent and needs refining. Right now he reminds me of Darren Collison. I think he can be a solid starter, or a great back up in the league. Stat line something like 15 points 7 assists 3 boards 1.5 steals in his prime. I think he will struggle scoring effectively/shooting at a good percentage, due to his slight frame which will affect his ability to finish, and his suspect outside shot. He has little to no inbetween game, all his scores come off 3’s or layups. I think he will be a perennial 40-45 % shooter

He said in an interview that he only started playing when he was 11 and he also said he keeps in touch with his mother and siblings everyday. That’s not a whole lot to go off of, but I think he must have at least an average motor since he only started playing eight years ago and I’m thinking he has a level head on his shoulders, but this is just me basing it off of one interview so you can’t know for sure until he’s made it in the league and gets a fat paycheck.

He comes from my city and people around here say that he is pretty cocky and arrogant.

In the last game of the Season the Coach didn’t start him because he missed 2 weeks of practice due to the Hoop Summit.
The game wasn’t important because it was the last game of the Season and the result wouldn’t matter so the coach didn’t play him until the 4th quarter and when he wanted to bring him in Schröder refused to go on the court because he was seriously pissed that he didn’t play until that point.

While Roddy’s shot is incredibly underrated, he’s a very solid outside shooter, and I’m not sure Shroeder will be anything more then an average outside shooter. And considering that most of his points come off 3’s and layups that spells poor percentages all over the place. I hope I’m and he develops a consistent outside stroke and inbetween game, but at this point, I dont see him being much better then Collison, a solid starter, and a good energy back up.

I don’t see the need to compare players to established players to get a grasp on who they are.

    They are who they are.

For example, the comparison to Roddy Beaubois is not a good one. Shroeder is a PG, Beubois has clearly demonstrated he is not.

So in that case, who cares if Schroeder’s shot is not as good? Beaubois is a 6’2″, skinny SG with poor PG skills.

Schroeder is a skinny 6’2″ PG with great PG skills, and a developing stroke with his jump shot. If you simply watch him shoot the ball, his mechanics are pretty good if not exceptional.

We get carried away with the comparison fetish to the point it’s ridiculous. Because these two guys are about the same height, wingspan and weight, they’re the same player. NOT. Beaubois is fragile, gets hurt all the time, Schroeder has played two seasons of pro ball in Deutchland with no injuries and seems durable. Schroeder is also an exceptional man defender, Beaubois is not. They both have blazing speed and look alike, so they’re the same player.

    I don’t think so.

Just curious, where do you guys see Schroeder getting drafted? Aran has him at #12, I think that’s a little high for someone who just burst on the scene.

Scouts and GM’s are more likely to trust the guys they’ve been looking at the last year or so, I see Schroeder falling in the mid-teens, not a lot of difference, but a little.

As much as I have been thinking Schroder would be a good fit with the Jazz , I may be wrong if he is a player with an attitude, peZt93 ‘s story of him refusing to go into a game could be a problem with an organization like the Jazz.
